I didn't know what to put as a title, but don't worry it's not as dramatic as it sounds. I'm just very physically and mentally tired, and I need to vent here before accidentally taking it out on someone else and verbally abuse them.
I'm a uni student in their last week rush of exams and assignments. The remaining exams are quite hard, but I also have several assignments due in the same week, all group projects. Everyone does their part and everything should be fine. But what pisses me off here is how my friend, whom i'm working with, just.... I want to hit them.
For the first project (due yesterday), we were behind in the planning, and we had to rush through it during the weekend. And this guy just says:
"I won't be able to help this weekend, I have to study for the upcoming exams."
LIKE DUDE of course, we ALL have to study. But I couldn't bring myself to say it, because I can understand a subject like physics quicker than he does, when he'll get a worse grade while studying more. (I'm not saying i'm smarter, but he needs more time to understand the subject.) So I said nothing, and pulled through the group project, burning several nights of sleep in order to have an acceptable result. (my sleep schedule is now a mess) Oh, and i forgot to mention that they fainted due to fatigue and stress, i guess. I can't ask them to do more work at this point.
Now, my physics exam is in 13 hours, and yet i'm still completing another project i'm doing with the same friend. I'm completely underprepared for this exam, and yet i can't even start to study because said friend goes on vacation right after the exams, so I have to finish everything before. And i have to sleep too.
What i'm doing on the project is my part, and I don't mind (ok no i do mind, he did the pages of a website and I have to do all the visuals and content of said pages, it's not balanced i want to scream) I promised i would finish this part by the end of the day, and I get it, I'M the one behind schedule, but can't you let me study my exams too?? I'm no genius, i'm even pretty average. I still need to study, and i can't even criticize them because they'll take it as if i insulted their whole family...

 I’ve been heavily drinking since college in 2016. Back then I would black out two times a semester. Summer of 2017, I woke up in a hospital during a weekend visit to my college town. That experience taught me how to not blackout, but how to get really fucking close. Since then my black outs have been less frequent, but more severe. The worst was December of 2021 when I had two pain medication pills (probably hydrocodin), a liter of wine, at least five beers, and a good deal of whiskey. Woke up the next morning with black bile in my bed, on the walls, and proceeded to vomit black the rest of the day. That was the worst day of my life, I thought I was going to die. I started therapy after that. I stopped drinking for a month, then went back to drinking, the cycle repeats. I made excuses that it’s harder for me to cut it out completely because I’m in law school and need to network, and I’m more charismatic when I’m drunk and so on and so on. I’ve always told myself that alcohol hasn’t directly impacted my professional life so I must be keeping it in control. I’ve argued every which way to myself why I can’t be sober. Not cause I’m thirsty, or love the taste, or the social aspect, or even the way it feels when you hit “just the right spot” of intoxication. I loved escaping my anxiety’s and reality. That one drink too many was the perfect spot because then I could forget. I’m studying for the bar exam now and promised myself that I’d quit drinking for this study time because that seemed like a sensible thing. But that was a decision based on what seems right, not what I felt. Today I got blood results back from my Dr. appointment, my first one on three years. Blood results showed my alt (SGPT) at 46, and my Bilirubin at 1.8. I know that means liver problems and I know it’s the result of my drinking. I’m so angry with myself for letting it get to the point, but I also really hope and believe that it’s not too late to get better. I wanna thank anybody whose reading this and thank this group for existing. What I’m most worried about in the upcoming weeks, months, and years is that I can’t truly visualize my life without alcohol. I can’t picture celebrations, social events, or even family get together without drinking. So I’m gonna be leaning on this community for the time being. Thank you all so much for existing and doing this with me.

I know this is the shroom group but it is the only group that will let me ask this. Im hoping some ppl who love shrooms love or loved weed. My dab hits are usually good, my brother experienced this hit last night and today AGAIN, had me try it and now I completely understand what he's saying now. My rig has been going strong and I am on my 3rd banger. Recently (as of yesterday) my brother complained that he heated/reheated his dab and it had turned milky, I thought he was talking about the rig and I was like okay so hit it??? wrong answer. he meant the dab he had reheated turned into almost a watery milky liquid. I've been smoking this dab for more that a week and OFTEN. this has never happened. It happened to my brother again and he had me hit it, it tasted horrible, almost like glass itself but nothing at the same time. I've never gagged from a hit so fast, I gagged as soon as it entered my mouth. I'm scared to use the banger now. Genuinely terrified. Any ideas what caused this? How do I prevent it? Is the banger a goner?

So this is just a jumble of thoughts I’ve had since finishing the game last night but I don’t have any friends that play these games to gush with so I’m just gonna put it here.
I was astounded by this game. After the first sky island and getting to hyrule I was very disappointed with this game, it didn’t feel like the enemies were scaled at all to my strength and abilities, I debated about putting it down I was having so many issues. But I kept pushing and found my groove. And the missions were a perfect combo of open ended but also playing into each other, and while they weren’t always required I loved how one story line recommended doing another one to naturally find the clues to solve the original mission.
And the characters seemed so much more alive and personable, and having the sages follow you around at all times as a little troupe of fighters was a good feeling and felt very natural in gameplay. And having a real Ganondorf as the villain in a Zelda game was great, and what a great villain he was. Very scary and threatening and you can feel that he was a true threat, never knowing if he would be able to come back from whatever until the very end.
And that ending! Following the story of Zelda and the light dragon and then the last fight, such an amazing example of a game being able to touch you emotionally. The final mission complete of Find Zelda, or whatever made me let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding.
My only critical points to this game were the Zonai machines, which were amazing fun but for someone like me were frustrating at times wondering why this machine I made didn’t work. The weapon durability seemed more annoying than BotW. The fuse mechanic was cool but needing to have two weapons to make one reasonable weapon seemed too much. And my final point is replayability, there’s so much in this game it’s amazing but the idea of going through that all again without the same exploration of the world seems like a little too much.
Overall this game is amazing with only a few critiques. Love it.

I was laid off January of 2023. First time not working since I was 14. I'm 37.
I decided to finish my master's degree. I have one year left and it requires an in person internship for 14 hours a week. I previously took a year leave of absence from school because I had my second son with complications.
I graduate Spring of 2024.
Meanwhile, my household and living expenses are covered but I can't pay for my credit cards. I figured I would have to settle all cards out and pay them once I graduate and start working again.
Does anyone have advice on this particular situation? Previously I was always paying them on time and working to pay them off. I have nothing in collections now and my credit score only had some negatives because of my credit cards being close to the limit.
Is there a difference in paying them off once they go to collections?
I can't afford to work and complete my degree at the same time because I have two children my mom is willing to watch each week until I graduate.

I met my best friend (Lucy) and her brother (Carter) the same night. Me and him ended up talking the whole night, took a row of pictures in a photo booth, he gave me his coat, took me for a walk, and kissed me.
I didn’t know that Lucy was Carter’s sister. After that he messaged me a couple of times. 15 days after that I quitted and started a new job at a school. It was their school, the moment he knew i was there we started talking and getting closer, he shared really personal things with me and he says that he trusted me a lot during that time.
Things we’re going okay, everyone knew me in the school as his girlfriend and he would never correct that, he even argued with a colleague who asked my cousin if she couldn’t help him out with me. He immediately told him to not even think about it. He talked about me to his family, to his friends at school, and actually considered a relationship.
One day i went to church and it happened to be their church, I didn’t know that. But i followed through with it and I’m catholic for 8 months now, I promised to come back since Lucy invited me. we had marked our first dinner, 2 days before that he sent me a message, asking me if i could talk.
He broke things up, told me he couldn’t start telling me how sorry he was for doing that. Said he didn’t want to get away from me but couldn’t ask me to stay close either cause it wasn’t fair. Said he had got into a situation that was completely out of his hand at the beginning, but he knew if he didn’t tell me he would blew everything up without having a chance to do something about it if he could in the future.
Told me that it wasn’t an ultimatum, said it just wasn’t the right time cause he wouldn’t do this to me. He told me not get away from his sister and his family cause he couldn’t take it if he was the reason they lost contact with someone they loved so much, i had this instant connection with his mother, she confessed once she felt like the whole time she was just waiting for me to show up, like i had always been in her heart but she was waiting to meet me. And once she did it felt like everything came together.
It ends up a girl kissed him when he was drunk on a birthday party, let’s call her Nora, I know him and his family and they’re very weak for alcohol, if they drink they become helpless, but she started messaging him after that. That girl was someone he used to know, he was her friend for a while till she got things in the wrong way and thought they were flirting, he said no when she asked, and she made him believe he was despicable for “giving her hopes”. That was almost half year before we met, he cut her off and then decided not to talk to anyone for a while, cause he didn’t want to hurt anyone else and he wasn’t sure that it could never happen again, but that only lasted till he met me.
I didn’t want to fool myself believing he was really sorry. I’m very skeptical, but he was beat up for weeks, some people would ask me if I had broke up with him, he was emotional, sleeping in class, didn’t let anyone mention me, and would defend me from anyone behind my back.
His sister stopped talking to him, my cousin asked me to talk lucy out of that, I told her she shouldn’t be against him. She was mad for what he had done but i asked her to at least try and see that he was a wreck, it took a tool on him. 2 days later she told me that for the first time in his life he regretted something, his bet friend told me he said he didn’t though through his choices, and believed he had made a mistake he could never fix, said he had no chance of reconciliation with me and once he realized that he couldn’t stop worrying about it. His mom went into his room and my photo with him in the photo-both was on his side table and it stayed there for a while so i think he really thought about it. It reapers there from time to time, his mother sometimes tells me, sometimes he posts something and i can see the corner of it there.
I tried to get away from his family but shortly after we broke up our situationship a friend of mine passed away, they took care of me during that time and I was a wreck, not even a month after that their grandma passed and Lucy and his mom just wanted to be around me. His mother baptized me, she’s my godmother now.
Nora and him are dating for 3 months now, i really believe he likes her even though the relationship is kind of messy, they fight a lot, break up a lot, he even told a friend we share like 1,5 months ago that he’s been getting tired and if next time she doesn’t ask him to get back he’s not going back to her.
We had a final talk about what happened between us a couple of months ago, he had bought the ring for Nora already but I didn’t know that, i said i wouldn’t be stepping on egg shells around him, clarifying I wasn’t hitting on him like some people thought. He said he wanted me around, wanted to work on a friendship between us. But if later down the road things took a turn and we realized any of us both still felt something for the other we could solve it accordingly. I think that’s such a strange thing, he can’t be considering someone else if he has a girlfriend. He also said he would always be there for me, to hear me and support me.
Point is: we kept a secure distance for months, right? But then one day he snapped and came all the way close to me again, doing things like jokes about me being short, shares what he’s drinking with me, started calling me by a nickname no one else uses.
I’m attending university out of the country in 3 months, i graduated a year before him, and took a gap year, now i’m going away. When i told Lucy she reacted well, even her mom who now has me as a part of the family. But when I told him he looked like i had punched him in the face, hugged me, took my hand a couple of times that night, kept assuring me i would be fine, i cried because i was thinking about missing my church, and he touched his forehead with mine. After that he came very closer very fast.
A few of his friends are starting to tell me i’m going to wreck his relationship. I’m not doing anything he’s acting out all alone, but i’m scared he might do something crazy, maybe he’s impulsive.
I don’t think i’m wrong, but people are spotting problems in the things he does, to be fair he’s having a few weird behaviors using my coat, giving me his coat, taking my keys and putting them on his pocket, his reaction when i told him i was leaving was very strange too.
I’m really confused and don’t know what to do, I don’t mind being his friend, but I’m not comfortable with the idea of having to push him away, i’m not trying to wreck anyone up. I think he deserves to be happy with Nora, and he seems to be! So what do i do here?

F(21) and M(21). For context we've been partners since high school. I graduated with an associates this semester but have been unemployed for 4 months. My partner on the other hand never completed college and has been working a minimum wage "dead end" job for 2 years. He tried college in high school but didn't enjoy it.
We both live with our parents but are very unfortunate such as living in section 8, food stamps and just withstanding horrid conditions. We are hardly privileged. Recently I've been staying over at his house more often because we don't like being alone.
The other day I wanted to use his restroom in the middle of the night. There's one bathroom in his family of 5 and it's only accessible through his siblings room. It was locked and when he couldn't open it he started breaking down crying.
When I asked him what's wrong he just said he's felt stuck at his home and that he's hasn't accomplished anything such as getting his drivers license or finishing college. He says whenever an opportunity sparks up he loses it. For example he has a huge passion for graphic design and would do free work for his job just to put himself out there, only to never set off.
I didn't give any unsolicited advice or solutions because when I asked he didn't want it. I knew I just needed to listen to him. He tends to shut off and not communicate when he feels upset.
Our support systems (family) is very poor, his especially. Our parents were very neglectful growing up. I don't know how to better improve our situation or give him confidence, it tends to backfire whenever I try (him shutting down).
The only possible solution I could think of is moving us out but at the moment I'm very undecided on whether to get my bachelors (would require me to be unemployed) or work full time. The idea of moving out for me is very new and if I happen to become independent a lot of government help I get would dissipate. I'm trying to take advantage of every service I have so there's a better outcome in my future, but it pains me to see my partner struggling.

Starting on July 1st, Reddit has decided to impose exorbitant charges on third-party app developers (Relay, Reddit is Fun, Apollo, Baconreader, Narwhal, etc.) for utilizing their API. This decision has far-reaching consequences that not only hinder app developers but also affect the experience of moderators and users alike, including impacting accessibility. The lack of function in Reddit's official app has made far from a complete solution for moderators, and left many users dissatisfied with their experience with it as well.
​In response to this situation, operndirectories has joined with other subreddits in a coordinated effort. We believe that unity is essential in driving change and advocating for the rights of app developers and the overall user experience. To amplify our message and demonstrate the strength of our concerns, barring any significant positive changes in Reddit's plan, operndirectories will be participating in a blackout starting on June 12th, lasting at least 48 hours.

Critical thinking and logic can be used to see through ridiculous claims. One of the reasons children aren’t able to enter into legal contracts or be held to the same standards as adults, is because these parts of the brain develop over time. The following quotes about the importance of teaching our kids how to think from a young age are from a website called “reboot-foundation.org” If you’d like a crash course in logic and critical thinking, I’ll put the link below.
“At the age of 13 and older, children can begin to learn the rules of formal logic and further hone their critical thinking skills. Whether or not their children are learning these skills in school, parents can help by discussing how to analyze concepts and arguments”.
It goes on to say:
“From ages 11 to 12, there gradually develops what Piaget called the formal operational stage. New capabilities at this stage, like deductive (if-then) reasoning and establishing abstract relationships, are generally mastered around ages 15 to 16.
As we saw, by the end of this stage, teenagers, like adults, can use both formal and abstract logic—but only if they have learned the language of logic (“if,” “then,” “therefore,” etc.) and have repeatedly put it to use. Under these circumstances, children learn to extrapolate and make generalizations based on real-life situations.”
Now let’s look at the cartoon propaganda videos, made for children by the WT. Do they teach these skills? Does anything watchtower produces? Do they encourage children to train their brains from a young age? Or do they use a number of dirty tricks to scare young kids in to getting baptized as young as possible, swearing an oath to an organization (their’s of course) under the ultimate penalty of death, at any moment, and a lifetime of lonely separation from family and friends if any change of mind or heart takes place? Consider the following examples:
Strict obedience at meetings. No, sleeping, no day dreaming, no playing with toys, young children must sit still, eyes forward, listening to the speakers, for 1.5 hours twice per week, about topics impossible for children that age to understand. They are also forced to accompany their parents in field service for many hours per month as well as have “family worship night” and read books designed for kids from the moment they can read. This is obviously incredibly boring for children, yet they are instructed repeatedly not only to never complain, but told how to feel about it. They are to call this loving, and are physically punished for not doing as they are told. This installs their earliest examples of religious cause, effect and cognitive dissonance. Even though they feel bored, they must act interested. Do this and get rewarded, don’t do this and get punished. They experience it now, so god will do the same to them as taught by their parents and the organization.
Their parents, along with everyone they are allowed to associate with tells them that doing more for God AND his organization is what makes God and everyone else happy. Everyone outside of this circle of influence, all non JWs, is called evil, dangerous, mentally disturbed, satanic and so on, regardless of the visible qualities that person or group of people display. Acts of charity are meaningless and must be avoided if provided outside the circle. Disagreeing with the circle instantly places you outside of the circle, proving something is wrong with you. It’s safer to not ask questions, or study the Bible on your own, and encouraged instead to study publications the organization distributes which tells them how to act, think, dress, talk, love, play, spend their time, educate themselves, spend their money and how to feel about doing these things. This extremely high control, “B.I.T.E” model that all but forbids being exposed to anything that would introduce critical thinking.
That’s why 2 year trade schools, or high labor, low skill, part time jobs are heavily encouraged, yet all other forms of higher education or career paths are demonized.
Thinking differently about anything the WT says, proves that person has an evil heart condition. God would have drawn someone into the JW circle if they had a good heart, it’s why you’re in the circle.
On one hand, god loves children, on the other, they must prove to god they want to serve him since they are born an enemy of god. This would instantly jump out as impossible if the basic fundamentals of logic were learned.
Sadly, the answer given to being born as “god’s enemy” is to become a “publisher” at a single digit age and become “baptized” no later than 12 or 13 to avoid certain death. In doing so, along with forbidding education that could lead to critical thinking, has the following devastating effect, quoted from the same article as above:
“In adolescence, the individuation process heralds the initial stages that a child takes toward becoming a unique individual, something more than just your parents’ offspring, is a psychological necessity.
Part of differentiating yourself from the world around you is developing a self-image. It is the only way to avoid fading completely into your surroundings—and ending up in utter conformity, or worse”.
By administering this mental puberty blocker during this critical developmental stage in life, they have the highest chance of fully indoctrinating the child, condemning them to a life of servitude, slaving away in a futile attempt to do more and more for an organization they honestly believe is the key to life for them and everyone they know. An unverifiable reward that will never have to be paid and impossible to prove after death. The ultimate long con, from cradle to grave is being and has been perpetuated for over 140 years. One man’s “special secret knowledge” has tricked millions of good people out of billions of hard earned dollars, by telling them they don’t have to die. All of those original “believers” are long dead and the new “overlapped” generation making the same claim today is getting older and older. When they are all gone too and the next in line to hold the “special secret knowledge” worthy of yet another generations lifetime of time and money, they will just explain it away as “new special secret knowledge”.
Learn to use logic and critical thinking skills, teach them to your children and break the cycle of manipulation, lies and abuse.

AITH FOR CUTTING CONTACT WITH MY SONS DADS SIDE OF THE FAMILY?
My son has recently started living back with me last year. He used to live with his dad's side of the family (not his dad) I gave birth at a young of 15 and suffered really badly with mental health and trying to unalive myself. And I wanted a stable mind for my sweet sweet baby, I looked after him for 9 and half months and my mental health declined massively. This was years ago, so fast forward to now. My son got into an accident when he was staying the night at his grandma's house (on my side of the family) which resulted in stitches. My son is completely fine, he's 6 years old and autistic. Anyway since the accident his dad's side of the family are making out I can't look after him? Making comments saying he's lost weight (he's had a growth spurt and eats like a horse, he's also gained weight and is in all his criteria for his age). Demanding to have him and not asking if they can for example I had planned to go away on the Monday with my son for a few days, and they kicked off saying it was the only day they had to see him. Yet they haven't bothered about seeing him or anything since I've had him nor have they bithered with him till the accident, they are sending snotty messages and having ago at me if I say I have plans with him. They wanted to come and see him and take him out as soon as he was out of the hospital, my son is autistic and he refused to go out when he had the accident due to the stitches on his face. When I explained this I got loads of hate? But never said they couldn't see him, i said it would just be at my house. Not once has his dad been to see him, pay for him, ask him how he's doing or ask for photos? Hes was always been like this even when my son was born, i used to get spamed calls and texts everyday with death threats, abuse and him saying he will take my baby away even now the only thing I got off his dad was him saying he was going to unalive me when things didn't go his way (we was supposed to vist them but my son got an ear infection this was months before the accident).It's all giving me anxiety especially when they never wanted my son placed with me. Even after social said that there are 0 concerns and are happy for me to have him again and placed him into my care full time. Social are out of the picture but I still have someone who comes round and checks on him and the house and they see how much he is thriving and how happy he is? He's even doing really well at school and got star of the week twice in a row! So would I be the arsehole for cutting them out his life? Even when they never bothered with him before the accident only until after the accident?

Hey guys, I'm not sure if anyone cares really but i need somewhere i can share where people will understand.
As the title states I'm six weeks away from finally getting fully out. My childhood was complicated, my actual parents were heavily abusive so at 11 i was placed with my aunt and uncle (who had recently suffered a TBI, this plays a big part later on). At first this seemed like a godsent. I went to bed for the first time the night after that not having to blockade my door out of fear of someone busting in drunk to take the days anger out on me.
I knew when i moved in that they were JWs but being a kid i had no idea what that actually meant. Boy did I find out fast. I really wasn't into it at first but was terrified I'd be sent back if i didn't do what was asked (to be clear this was never threatened, just A personal fear) so i went to meetings, went out in service ect ect. By 12 i was an unbaptized publisher, at 13 i was baptized. I got really into it for the next 7 years. Fully on the ministry school and everything. At 18 things turned at home and i ended up being a caretaker for my uncle as my aunt couldn't handle it on her own anymore. That was fine, i really didn't mind helping out. But it soon became much more then that and by 19 i was handling his care 24/7.
This whole time i was being assured this is what Jehovah wanted and i was doing exactly what he wanted me to. That was until I started missing meetings and my service time fell off a cliff. I had made many friends over the years but as i missed more and more i noticed they distanced themselves from me to the point of ignoring my texts calls ect completely. I was left alone caring for an uncle (and at this point my aunt as well). At this point i felt completely abandoned. I was doing what i was told over and over was the right thing only to be punished for it.
As you can imagine around this time i started questioning things. I read the bible for the first time without having the watchtower to tell me how to feel about things, and very quickly i realized i didn't agree with it. Not only did it contradict historical evidence, i realized the God i had been worshiping was cruel. The "god of love" id been sold was a lie. The one I was reading about was a rageful vengeful god who murders children with bears, condones slavery and plans on killing BILLIONS of innocent people because they don't live exactly the way he wants.
At first i wanted to be wrong. I went to the elders with questions just to be told it's not our place to question him, hes righteous and i shouldn't dwell on it.
Around this time i had started making friends over xbox live. I truly believe they're the only reason I'm still here. One of them became the best friend I've ever had, I'll call him Tom here.
Tom had an extremely similar childhood to mine with a few differences, only he was raised JW and had an abusive mom.
We found each other as we were both going PIMO, and have stuck together ever sense. I know you're probably all sick of hearing things like this your whole life, but Tom really is my brother. I love him more then anyone else on this planet and would do anything for him and know that he would do the same.
We'll fast forward a bit here because my life was basically set on pause from 20-25. Taking Care of my uncle every day and spending what i have left on Xbox. Covid also hit during this time which definitely did not help things.
This brings us to about a year ago now. Tom brings up the possibility of me moving in with him in july of this year and helping him run his business. I was so happy i almost cried. There was A lot to do, there still is but the date is finally set in stone. In six weeks ill be free from this cult for good. I have no idea where to go from here. It feels like my entire life has been a waste until now (ill be 27 a month after i leave and feel like i haven't gotten to experience anything). But I can't wait for all the new experiences. Like my first Christmas and other holidays ect.
Im not really sure how to end this, but i just want to say to all those who are PIMO and feel stuck don't lose hope. And I hope you f find a way out soon.

TLDR: neither my manager, nor the HR rep are answering my direct question if it’s mandatory I complete this, 5 hour, in person, two day training. How do I politely refuse?
It’s on the opposite schedule to my work shift. One day after working 8 hours night shift, and one day in the morning of my weekend.
This started because I reported my boss for workplace harassment and hostility. Which was confirmed and they shared they’d have her complete this specific training as a countermeasure. I was not mentioned in requiring this same training, only it was recommended to do others.
Now later my manager shares she was emailed by HR if “I completed the training yet”. And my manager emailed me to have this completed as it’s mandatory.
I then followed up to the exact email sent by my HR rep, quoting what was told to me, and if there was some sort of miscommunication between them and my manager.
Now my HR rep completely ignored my single question in my email and is going at it with: “maybe we can make some schedule changes? Your leadership must be recommending this because it’ll do well for you, we don’t get these face to face trainings often, I’m excited for anyone willing to participate. Id hate for you to miss it.”
Then again completely ignores my question and voluntells me, asking the HR manager to please reach out to my manager and have this arrangement done.
How do I politely tell them I won’t bend backwards for something completely unnecessary to me?
