I own a small business repairing a niche piece of plant equipment. I turnover £170k a year of that about £110k is profit. I am the only employee. I deal with invoicing, accounts, meeting new clients, service schedule, inspection schedule and im also in the van going to sites and repairing the equipment it’s a 70 hour week job.
I have been approached by a very big firm in the industry who manufacture parts for the equipment I repair (i know them well, I buy my parts from them). They approached me as they want to set up a service department and would like to partner up. They’ve proposed that they will handle all accounts, customers parts, service schedule and I do the work and we start bringing other mechanics on board that I will train so I can then run the department. They have access to hundreds of clients they could bring on board that I wouldn’t have access to without. They also have the infrastructure and are willing to invest in scaling the business up. They want to open 3 service departments for 3 diffident pieces of equipment (of which I will head 1) all of this will be put under a new umbrella company they want me to be a 16% shareholder of with the 2 other department heads and the Main company (parts manufacturer) having 52%

The offer they have made is, 60k a year salary, 12.5% share of all work my department invoices to the customer goes to me as a bonus monthly (rest goes on insurance, van rent, fuel, unit rent and any profit goes into umbrella company.. and a 16% share in umbrella company with dividends paying out annually.
Am I being screwed? I feel like it’s a very good offer and they’re only offering it because they need me. But giving up my own company will be heartbreaking and im not sure if I might regret this decision if I go ahead with it.

I have a line on my parent's account, and recently signed up for T-Mobile home internet in my own name. I've called t mobile several times about this, but everytime I login to pay my bill, it takes my to my parent's bill.
I believe this is because they signed me up at the t mobile store with my current phone number (which is the line on my parent's account). I've tried paying my bill as "guess" using the subscriber number affiliated with my unit, but just get an error message.

I am wondering if any of you would feel comfortable sharing how much you were quoted or you paid to have your CoolFit piping installed. Any additional information is helpful including the size of the system and how much of the hanging prep and final plumbing and insulation to the tanks they did.
We did our own system last year. Header is 6" OD and 4" ID with 1" PEX drops to 9FVs, 3VC tanks, and 4 brites, as well as two cooler fan units. We did everything from connecting to the chiller, running the loop, and plumbing/insulating all tank drops including motorized Bellimo ball valves.

I am a documented high performer at work - I got the highest rating on my last performance review and my clients have shared with leadership that they love working with me. Yet two major issues have come up in the past year that made the volume of work intolerable. One, I was given work of a coworker who switched to part-time; this was done with no training or even basic communication about the transition. Two, I was asked to coordinate 40+ events in a 9-month period with no additional resources (above the events I was already responsible for).
My manager encouraged me to do an exit interview with our unit-level HR rep. I was skeptical, but my manager told me that my input was valid and “I would be heard.” The conversation took place yesterday and it did not go well. It was worse than talking to a brick wall; it was like talking to rubber. Everything I mentioned had a response that frankly did not justify the issues that forced me to find another role.
-I mentioned how when my colleague went part time, there was no training, no communication about success metrics, and no help. She was a receptionist and so any time she was gone, people came to me (since I sit by her). HR simply said that the person who went part time said she “didn’t have enough work,” and if I had spoken up sooner then this might not have been an issue. But in my performance review completed last May, I specifically called out how difficult it was when I covered my colleague’s work for a monthlong period. And that doesn’t justify the lack of communication given to me. They said my coworker was getting a part time schedule and then the work started coming my way as a result and that was it. (It was not work my manager could supervise either because she doesn’t work in front office operations or facilities.)
-I mentioned how the events were an added burden. HR mentioned that now that events are back in person, it’s like it was before I was hired, and if only I had been hired before COVID I would understand! The thing is, we did not have this many events in our unit before COVID. This was made clear to me by 1. My manager, and 2. By the people who I supported with the events. And also the events were not catered in the past. This was new this year. So the idea that the extra events means now the job is “back to normal” does not hold weight.
-I mentioned how resistant people seem to be to documented processes. Why am I communicating financial processes and IT processes and facilities processes when we have teams dedicated to doing this? When I mentioned this, HR said “maybe the new website will fix this.” But the web designers can’t write processes themselves… Someone has to do it before you can publish it.
-I greatly appreciate my direct supervisor, who I know has flagged these issues with senior management for basically the past year. But my HR rep said she wished I reached out to her directly to talk about this stuff. Why would I do that? My boss was already advocating for me. She knew the issues I was facing. It’s not like my boss kept secrets from leadership - the exit interview confirmed that. If they didn’t listen to a director-level employee, why would they listen to me? They basically admitted that they don’t trust the feedback my boss shares, which is ridiculous for more reasons than I have time to share. And again, all of this already came up a year ago.
I know well that “HR is not your friend” but I did not imagine how badly the conversation would go.
I provided a SWOT analysis and a 2-page summary of how the role has changed and is unsustainable. Maybe I’ll share it with the new department leader. He started yesterday.
My new job has a better title, a better commute, and better pay. But I wish I could have stayed longer. I wish it could have worked out.

In the civilian sector I work in the fire service. A big thing that is starting to take off is the peer support programs. Of course most departments have EAP programs and resources for employees to access but they are still proving these peer support teams to be beneficial in providing a stepping stone for employees to reach those resources.
It got me thinking. Could the guard benefit from something similar or along these lines? Sure, we have the resources and we can require our units to sit thru mandatory briefings and then throw some phone numbers at them at the end of the briefings.
This is something that hits close to home and is something that I’m passionate about. I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the help I received thru the guard. There was SO much stigma surrounding reaching out to the state’s BH team, it actually kept me from doing that. It wasn’t until I had another trusted soldier walk beside me and assist me in reaching out for help, that I actually got the help I needed.
So I guess this is just a rough draft idea that I’m throwing around and want to get some thoughts on. It could potentially look like having a few designated soldiers in each unit that have additional training in the mental health realm and have the ability to access and provide resources.
Or maybe some sort of program that provides an anonymous way for a SM to get paired up another SM that has training and the ability to just text or talk with the individual and aid in getting them help. Because I think that often times, the only people that can come close to understanding are the ones who have very similar experiences.

Hello, All. I recently picked up a Denon AVR E400 . Unit appears to work other than I get a Login Failed message when trying to update firmware. I bought it to use classic consoles and act as a passthrough for my laptop.
Anyone know where to download bios updates?Denon's site is basically garbage for software on older models. I was using a much older, nonHDMI having receiver before and wanted to have something that would allow pass through.
Without update, this unit makes my passthrough content look terrible. Scaling, clarity, and color are all way off. I have used the same laptop and a pc to pass through my Sony STR-DH770 without issue.including true surround.

What prescriptions are covered?: You can see what prescriptions are covered by searching the BC Pharmacare Formulary. You can ask your doctor to prescribe something that is covered. Click on the hyperlinked DIN number for actual information. Some medications require special authority or are only covered under certain plans (eg. Plan G for patients receiving psychiatric care - don't ask me about this because I know nothing). Here is a general list of the supplies that Fair Pharmacare covers.
What is Special Authority?: Special Authority is full or partial coverage that requires a special circumstance. Your doctor needs to fill out a Special Authority Form to get coverage. For some drugs, all that is required is a diagnosis (eg. a diagnosis of Acne for Retin-A) or it requires you having tried one of the drugs that are already covered and it didn't work for you (eg. trying Dexadrine before getting Vyvanse covered for ADHD).
How long does it take Special Authority to be processed?: It can take up to business days for a Special Authority request to be processed. Some are done faster. You can login to BC Health Gatweway and filter by Special Authority to see if it is approved. I think that you need to register for the BC Services Card App to login to the health gateway.
How many days can be dispensed at a time on Fair Pharmacare?: This varies and you should be very mindful of this. Always ask your pharmacist about this because I have been out of pocket $200 when I wanted 90 days for convenience but one prescription would only be covered for 30 days at a time.
My prescription is not covered through Fair Pharmacare. What can I do about this?: BC has a drug review process%20or%20a%20non%2Dbenefit). Check to see if it has been approved by Health Canada and reviewed by CADTH. Take a look at what their reports said about the drug. If your drug was recommended for approval but BC still does not cover it, [e-mail the Ministry of Health](mailto:[email protected]). Maybe even the Minister of Health and your local MLA. Some years ago, I noticed that BC covered a drug for people under the age of 18, but no longer for those 18+. I e-mailed the government pointing out the reports, stating that it didn't make sense because the condition doesn't magically go away when the person turns 18, and guess what - they changed the policy a couple of months later.
The BC Government does regularly solicit feedback on drug coverage. I get an e-mail periodically with a list of medications that they will be soliciting feedback for, but I can't even remember how or where I signed up for it. You can subscribe for updates to this public page which I imagine does the same thing as the e-mail I receive does.
What else can I do to make a difference?: I am not sure which is the correct body (BC Pharmacy Association, BC College of Pharmacists, BC Government), but personally I would like a campaign that has a sticker, cards, or something at every pharmacy in BC that shares information about Fair Pharmacare. If someone is being rung up and Pharmacare isn't listed on their receipt, the cashier is required to tell them about it. Perhaps government employees or Pharmacists can comment and let us know which body would be in charge of making this happen.
Hopefully this information helps. We are very lucky in BC that we have this program that applies to all British Columbians instead of just seniors and children. This can save you a huge amount of money. I often hear people complaining about the cost of Vyvanse and they have no clue that they can get it covered through Fair Pharmacare's Special Authority program. If you really want to give back to your community, stop making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and handing them out at Main/Hastings. Consider visiting a senior or hosting something in your condo's amenity room that walks people through the registration process. This will make a difference in a meaningful way.
