2023.03.24 07:00 Dongerated 1/6 Of Vietnam’s Population Own Cryptocurrency

Vietnam has seen a significant increase in the adoption of cryptocurrencies over the past few years. This can be attributed to several factors, including the growing popularity of digital currencies worldwide and the need for an efficient and secure payment system in Vietnam. With one of the highest crypto adoption rate in the world, Vietnam is experiencing rapid growth in blockchain apps and games. Vietnamese culture has always had a strong affinity towards gold, and other precious metals. The younger generation can utilize this digital space to reap the benefits of a fledgling industry. Vietnamese citizens have been collecting gold as a hedge against inflation. At one point, the Vietnamese held 400 tons of gold. In Vietnam, where locals do not have access to traditional banks, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin allow them to participate in the global economy. Another reason for the adoption of cryptocurrencies is the lack of trust in traditional banking systems. Many Vietnamese citizens do not have access to banks due to various reasons such as high fees or lack of documentation, making it difficult for them to participate in the traditional financial system. Cryptocurrencies offer an alternative form of financial inclusion, allowing individuals to send and receive money without the need for a bank account. Convenience is also a factor for the growing popularity of cryptocurrencies in Vietnam is the ease with which they can be used for online transactions. With the rise of e-commerce in Vietnam, many merchants are now accepting digital currencies as a form of payment. This has made it easier for consumers to purchase goods and services online, without the need for a credit card or bank account.
There is also many restaurants and coffee shops named after Binance and Bitcoin such as Binancian Coffee in Hue City or Bitcoin Coffee and Tea in multiple locations located in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

2023.03.24 06:50 Brandenwadeart M29/F22 - I think my 9 month relationship needs to end…

Wow, looking at the title of this post is fucking terrifying. But no one starts a long-term relationship expecting to feel this way. My girlfriend and I met on Facebook Dating, the same as my previous, very short relationship which will have its relevance in this post.
I am 29 and my girlfriend is 22. I’m a metal-head, an aspiring tattoo artist, a horror movie fanatic and a fantasy and science fiction nerd. My girlfriend loves Hello Kitty, the color pink, TikTok, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles. I smoke weed and my girlfriend quit smoking and wishes I didn’t. Besides the truly traumatic fights we’ve had (which because I’m a red-flag artist, they’ve mostly been due to some destructive habitual bad habits and erratic behavior of mine), I don’t think we have anything in common and I don’t think we understand each other.
Besides my girlfriend playing in my Dungeons & Dragons campaign (which was really the only activity we spent hours doing together, sometimes she’ll watch me play video games which is sweet), it’s confirmed that my girlfriend doesn’t like any of music, doesn’t like my artwork outside of appreciating it because I’m her boyfriend (it’s very horror-esque) and has no interest in talking about history, philosophy, science, or really any of my interests at all. I also am getting exhausted of watching Dance Moms and The Office but I don’t know what else we can watch together and enjoy. We also have sex like once a month.
This evening, I showed my girlfriend some album art (Feeding the Wolves, 10 Years) that I really want to get tattooed on my right shoulder and she looked at it blankly and said “I personally don’t like it but I think it’s cool that you do.” It was just a paint and ink drawing of a wolf’s head. I don’t want to paint my girlfriend in a bad light in any way which is what makes this so truly terrifying. She is a huge advocate for mental health and has been a really supportive partner. I just can’t help but think of what would happen if I ran into someone who enjoyed history or science or horror art or even black and white movies because my girlfriend refuses to watch those as well. It’s just hard.
OK, so we don’t enjoy to do the same activities together but there are plenty of couples who don’t share the same interests and have a (successful?) relationship. I don’t know, I don’t think I agree with that and I don’t know if I should or if that standard is republican traditionalist bullshit. A lot of hesitation has come from not knowing if what I want is not OK because of relationship norms. Unfortunately, there’s more issues than just us being people who would never get together if we spent time as friends first. So, here goes.
My girlfriend has severe OCD and will cry if I misplace something or put something in the wrong place or knock something over. I’m a scatterbrained neurodivergent with ADHD and that’s probably not going to change. I think it’s ridiculous and it’s making home life incredibly stressful, not to mention having no privacy because if I don’t go to bed at the same time as her, she has a tantrum. I hate to sound apathetic but I’m almost 30. I don’t want to babysit my girlfriend. I feel like an asshole but I think that’s well in my rights to feel that way. I just have felt like I can’t breathe lately.
So about the previous relationship and how it’s affecting my current one. I dated a Wiccan who listens to Tool and Alternative Rock and Metal. We took walks in the graveyard, we played video games, we played board games, we smoked and talked about philosophy. We fell asleep listening to my favorite band Antimatter… which my girlfriend has flat-out told me she can’t stand. My previous girlfriend was incredibly verbally abusive but I can’t help but think about her all the fucking time. She nourished a part of me that is incredibly suppressed-feeling now.
The absolute worst part is that I moved for her. I first moved into her trailer where all the nightmare fights took place (crying, screaming etc.) and now I’m living in the house she bought. I work and help with fixing the place up and every responsibility a good boyfriend should do but fuck, how do I get out of this if I need to? My friends are an hour and a half from here and I have no one but my girlfriend and her family. I feel incredibly trapped.
And now at the end of this, I’ll share my plan. I have an individual therapist and we also have a couples therapist. I want to ask my therapist for help on how to do it and share how I feel in a place where we both feel safe - couples therapy. I don’t know if I should live here and help her with the house use she doesn’t feel alone or if I should make plans for getting a studio apartment. I still can’t believe I’m even considering these options.
If anyone could provide me with some thoughts or advice or insight, I’d really, really appreciate it.

2023.03.24 06:49 ClearSightM FUCK YOU KRATOM

I used Kratom from 2020-2022. Originally tried it to help my ability to focus as I was finishing up college. It didn't work the best for focus but I did like it to boost my mood quickly and make me more enthused about different tasks. Definitely eased anxiety and depression. And as a result, I got to where I depended on it almost DAILY at 10-15 GPD as I embarked on a highly stressful full time job doing marketing for several fortune 500 companies fresh out of college. And it got to where I had to quit the job to be able to quit kratom since I relied on it so heavily day-to-day and could not keep doing that job without some assistance from kratom. So I quit the job in late June '22, quit kratom cold turkey the day after, and my health never recovered. I expected to get back to the same normal life had Pre-kratom, not relying on a substance to feel normal, but instead my health has been in a steady decline ever since I quit. I went from kinda mild stuff like vision issues, jumping joint and muscle pain, headaches, and feeling like crap constantly, then when October hit I started having neuromuscular problems. Lost muscle all over my entire body. My shoulders and knees are now super boney, my butt feels boney when I sit, and my clothes fit baggier immediately until I gained fat to offset the weight loss in the form of muscle My neck, arms, face, and hands also had super scary rapid muscle loss. I have a harder time walking now as my feet kinda flop around more and I just have less muscle than I did. My vision issues come and go as well and I have way less energy than I used to. Before June I was far more productive. Had never had any legit health issues. Doctors aren't suspecting MS or ALS at the moment as I've undergone MRIs and terribly unpleasant EMGs, but my muscles and nerves are so screwed up now. I'm only 24, never had any health issues before, and then this shit hits me right when I try to get off kratom. Haven't felt quite right since that last dose in June The heavy metals in it and the addictive nature of it def screwed me long term. Can't tell me I'd be having these same issues if I never did kratom. The timing lines up so close as I had absolutely flawless health before I quit. I can only hope I'm eventually one of those stories of people who get their lives back after quitting, but I've been in this hell for so long now and never really gained jack shit from doing kratom. Doctors still haven't figured out what's wrong with me but I'm too damn damn young for my health to be falling off a cliff. No way this shit just came out of nowhere, something in the kratom I took almost daily is to blame. Maybe my body couldn't handle the withdrawals, idk, but a life without kratom would've turned out so much smoother. Nobody ever told me this is how shitty life would turn out. Please assure me I'll have my life back at some point.

2023.03.24 06:40 Guilty-Plane3614 How to get rid of metallic sound?

I don't really know how to put what I'm thinking into words; but I'm gonna try anyway. When I play on a good reed or when I'm just starting a session, my tone is nice, warm, and round. But if the reed is mediocre, or I've been practicing for a while, this faint metallic sound will start to seep through into my sound no matter how I try to adjust my embouchure. It doesn't destroy my sound or anything, but the sound becomes less smooth and my tone quality takes a slight hit. It will be perfectly smooth but as I play this slightly metallic sound will start to come out, especially in the higher register. I've been playing for around 7 years, so I wouldn't assume it's some "beginner issue" like improper embouchure. I'm also playing on a Yamaha custom EX alto that I've had maintenance done on recently, so it shouldn't be a horn issue either. I don't know if anyone knows what I'm referring to or if I just sound crazy, but if any of you can provide insight I would appreciate it, thanks!

2023.03.24 06:37 Neat-Wave-5114 PTFE Lined Sight Flow Indicators: Understanding their Functionality and Applications

In many industrial processes, it is important to monitor the flow of liquids or gases through a pipeline or system. This is where sight flow indicators come in, providing a visual way to monitor the flow of fluids. Sight flow indicators can come in a range of materials and designs, but in this blog, we will focus on PTFE lined sight flow indicators manufacturers in India and their functionality and applications.
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a highly non-reactive and versatile material that is resistant to many corrosive chemicals and has a high temperature tolerance. When PTFE is lined on the inside of a sight flow indicator, it provides excellent corrosion resistance and makes it suitable for use in highly corrosive environments.
Functionality of PTFE Lined Sight Flow Indicators:
PTFE Lined Sight Flow Indicators are used to visually monitor the flow of liquids or gases through a pipeline. They consist of a transparent window, usually made of glass or acrylic, and a PTFE lined body that allows the fluid to flow through. The window is typically circular in shape and allows operators to see the flow of the fluid.
The PTFE lining helps protect the sight flow indicator from corrosive substances and ensures the fluid does not come into contact with any metal parts. This lining also helps to reduce friction between the fluid and the sight flow indicator, making it easier for the fluid to flow through.
Applications of PTFE Lined Sight Flow Indicators:
PTFE Lined Sight Flow Indicators have a wide range of applications across various industries due to their excellent resistance to corrosive substances. Some common applications Include:
Chemical Processing: PTFE Lined Sight Flow Indicators in Vadodara are used in the chemical industry to monitor the flow of corrosive chemicals such as acids, alkalis, and Solvents.

2023.03.24 06:35 CryoChamber10 Growing Shrooms in Cali vs Colorado

Hi guys, I current live in California, I enjoy the weather here and have a cheap apartment in San Diego (Less than $900 a month for a studio, all utilities included) in a great location ;))

Anyway, I love growing shrooms here, the natural temprature, and humidity is just right, I never have to use an AC, heater, etc, and the ambiental humidity is great.

My big concern is getting caught by the apartment staff. I plan on transitioning to a stealth grow chamber, so even if a staff or person walks into my room, they can stare right at my grow chamber and will think its something else.

For example, I've been growing in a locking metal box, but it looks conspicuous/suspiscious, it's a metal box with a lock on it, and grow light beaming light out of it, with extension cords going into the back :
It works great, but it isnt stealthy and is suspiscious.

So, I'm thinking of stealth grow-chambers, such as growing shrooms inside an old TV (the big old TVs from like 2000 with 1+ foot of total size). I can mount a light inside it and the air holes would provide ventalation. This would be a good-ish stealth grow chamber.

The hardest engineering problem with a stealth grow-chamber is containing the light, while still allowing for air exchange. I've thought about using some plants that filter air really well, the plants would take the waste-gas from the shrooms/mycelium and convert it into oxygen. THen I could have a completely sealed grow chamber with no light leakage (as there wouldn't be any air holes.)
This may work, but the issue is plants love Trich,, and may have Trich spores in the soil, or actual trich growing in the soil. So if I introduce a plant into my mushroom chamber, it will almost certainly lead to possible contamination due to soil fungus's, gnats, etc.

I've thought of growing inside various large electronic devices, such as a locking mini fridge, but again, the issue is air flow and light leakage, to allow air flow, I need holes or similar, but then light leaks out!

I haven't found a perfect answer for this problem yet

My best idea is to use a Sealed electronic device, like a fake Desktop computer case, or a fake Air filter, or a fake mini fridge, and use a air filter+pump (like used in cannabis grows) to filter air in and out of the grow chamber. Due to the pump and air filter, the air circulating into and out of the chamber would not need air holes and would thus not have any light leakage. However, then the pump and its noise become suspiscious except for maybe a mini-fridge this could work. I could install the airpump along next to the fridges engine, and the noise of the airpump could be belived to be the fridge operating.

what do u guys think, thanks.

2023.03.24 06:34 LibrarianBarbarian1 Suggest me a Fantasy or SF novel that captures the feel of late-70s-early-80s "Adult Animation" movies, like Bakshi's Wizards or the Heavy Metal movie.

I'm looking for exotic settings where the author doesn't get carried away with pointless realistic "world building" but focuses instead on creating a vivid and colorful original world.
I'm not looking for Medieval European style settings, or any setting based on any real kind of Earth culture. It has to be weirder and more imaginative like the Bakshi movie and Heavy Metal and Mike Ploog's comic book "Weird World".
Here is the hard part. I have read most of the older SF & F, so I would really prefer more modern books written in this style.

2023.03.24 06:29 Shootoshot What I have learned so far

Tips from a noob (only 75+ hrs in) - you can store your resources at the recycling site (blue workbench). This will greatly increase your storage space - picking off components will greatly increase the speed to take down opponents - Rivals both level 1, 2, 3 or 4 can drop experimental weapons as long as you’re level 25+ - the max level with skill points awarded is 31 - orange sparks means you’re hitting armor and blue sparks means you’re hitting a weakened spot and doing increased damage (if blue sparks stop then move onto different part) - you can filter by parts that are specifically used by a certain weapon in the attachments section of your storage - you can recycle unwanted ammo to craft the ammo you do use - if you’re being swarmed by hunters/dogs use the lure toy to group them and then blow them all up with explosive - there are varying levels of attachments which give enhanced qualities - the bow no longer has a charge animation - you can escape combat by crouching or laying down as long as you’re out of the line of sight - field radios are good to bring when exploring new area or taking a base down so you can fast travel if you die - different ammo versions of the same type are good for different scenarios (full metal vs armor piercing) - you can use the environment to your advantage by exploding cars near robots
Any other noob friendly tips?

2023.03.24 06:28 ScubaLooser In an attempted home invasion/burglary at night, if a home is “smart”, are lights on or off more advantageous when fighting back?

Say you got some BGs kicking in your front door and you’re in your room kitted up. Is it better to have the lights on or off when you engage them? A basement bud suggested that lights off because you would have the advantage of the shadows and knowing the layout of the home. I’m torn because my thought process is a majority of burglaries are smash and grabs, and if all the lights came on and heavy metal started blaring out of the home audio system, that would probably spook them giving you the upper hand. What’s your thoughts on this scenario ??

2023.03.24 06:27 Comfy-Parrot AI introduction on Randonautica by Chat GPT

"Hi! I'd like to go on an adventure with my brother using the app Randonautica. can you write a summary on how it works and simplify the terms of service?"
Sure, I'd be happy to help!
Randonautica is a smartphone app that generates random coordinates for you to explore in your local area. The app uses a quantum random number generator to produce these coordinates, which are intended to lead you on an adventure and help you discover new and interesting things in your surroundings.
To use the app, you simply select your desired location radius and generate a point. You can then follow the directions to the generated location and explore the area. Some users report finding interesting things like hidden sculptures, abandoned buildings, and other unexpected discoveries.
As for the terms of service, here's a simplified summary:
You must be at least 18 years old to use the app.

"What are some random examples of events that gained attention with the public?"
  1. In August 2020, a group of teenagers in Seattle used Randonautica to generate coordinates and ended up finding a suitcase containing human remains on a beach. The case gained national attention and is still under investigation.
  2. Another user reported finding a strange metal box in the woods while using Randonautica, which contained a handwritten note that appeared to be a list of names and dates. The user said they felt uneasy and quickly left the area.
  3. Some users have reported feeling as though they are being watched or followed while exploring coordinates generated by the app. In some cases, they have seen strange figures or heard unexplained noises.
  4. A user in the UK reported finding a set of stairs leading to nowhere in the middle of a field, which they said felt eerie and out of place.
It's worth noting that some of these experiences may be explained by natural phenomena or coincidence, and that the app itself does not necessarily cause strange or paranormal events. However, the stories of unusual encounters associated with Randonautica have certainly added to the app's mystique and popularity.
"Can you tell me about positive experiences with Randonautica?"
Yes, there have been many positive experiences reported by users of the Randonautica app. Here are some examples:
  1. Self-discovery: Many users have reported using the app to explore new areas of their city or town, and in the process, they have discovered new things about themselves. This could be anything from realizing that they enjoy nature more than they thought, to discovering an interest in art or architecture.
  2. Bonding with friends: Randonautica is often used as a fun activity to do with friends, and many users have reported feeling closer to their friends after a successful randonauting adventure. It can be a great way to bond and create new memories together.
  3. Finding hidden gems: Users have also reported finding interesting and beautiful places they would have never discovered otherwise, such as hidden parks, beautiful murals, or scenic views.
  4. Overcoming fears: Some users have used the app as a way to confront their fears or challenge themselves. For example, a user with a fear of heights may generate a location that requires them to climb to a high point, and successfully doing so can give them a sense of accomplishment and help them overcome their fear.
  5. Serendipitous experiences: Finally, many users have reported serendipitous experiences while using the app, such as meeting new people, finding lost items, or experiencing moments of synchronicity that feel like they were meant to happen. These experiences can be very positive and affirming.
Of course, as with any app that involves exploring unfamiliar places, it's important to take necessary safety precautions and use common sense while using Randonautica. But for many users, it has been a fun and positive way to explore the world around them.
Thanks for asking Chat GPT!

2023.03.24 06:21 DK27x1 Let's consider what this genre really is- all the discarded people

So, there's so much defining every other genre, so much exclusion and splitting of hairs- it gets obnoxious. I understand the human impulse to categorize. Fine. But truly, I fucking adore numetal because it defies all of that. Literally, it was defined out of snubbery that didn't fit a metal labeling, yet didn't belong anywhere else. As a result, it made its own space and drew in influences from every other genre. It defined itself only by a connection to a harsh and heavy feeling sound that was willing to involve anyone that what to experiment with new sounds. And it didn't stop there! Nu metal embraced the heavy lyrics, heavy topics, heavy emotions, the heavy hearts of all of us, regardless of our sound of origin. It was and is a place of sonic belonging for everyone who was told they didn't belong somewhere else. And yet, it still had the self awareness to poke fun at itself, to joke, and take itselfess a little less seriously. Honestly, there is no other genre creates that has the versatility, acceptance, introspection, and personal growth (serious and lighthearted) that nu metal has. Nu Metal is a genre for everything to meld, when other sounds strip away the false, fabricated messages and "music" that they merely perform. Numetal is where artists unleash their inner self, the raw expression of this human existence, a space of unburdening. As listeners, do you sit and criticize what it or what isn't within the rulebook nu-sound? Or do you seek to delve into the mind of the creator? To feel connected, to feel that there are others who see this insane world in the way you might? I say all this to say, let's please stop finding ways to disclude others. We are not a sealed off group. We'll never benefit or grow that way. Let's embrace those we may have not before, and make the definition of Numetal our own. Not something defined by others as a disparaging remark, but as a badge of pride in that all are accepted as long as they are true and bring their own brand of intensity. Fuck damn shit I'm high. I still love you all.

2023.03.24 06:15 trevortrees My Journey with Pulsatile Tinnitus

Hey all,
I figured it was time to stop lurking share my tinnitus story. Not sure what to expect. I've not written or shared anything on the internet this personal before.
It will be a year in just over a month that I've lived with pretty intense pulsatile tinnitus mainly focused on the left side of my head. I was recovering from a relatively mild case of influenza A and was also fairly congested when I woke up one night and it was there.
It sounds as if I can hear the inside of my sinus when its empty or some other internal structure. It sounds like a metallic/tin-like, almost ethereal resonance that pulsates with my heart rate. Its incredibly dynamic in both tonal changes and intensity. It runs the gamut of being incredibly loud, about as loud as a lawnmower 10 yards away, to being almost unnoticeable many times throughout the day, Its drastically altered my life. I loved music and that is now incredibly challenging to listen to. It distracted from my recently found love for meditation and its made depth nearly impossible. It torpedoed my concentration and patience.
I have been to ENTs, chiropractors, dentists, and TMJ evaluations ("no pain, cant be TMJ"). I've tried antihistamines, tapping on various parts of the skull, and vagal tone exercises. I most recently visited the Pulsatile Tinnitus Clinic at Northwestern University Hospital in Chicago. There they were able to diagnosed me with a variant of Eagle Syndrome after MRI w/contrast and CTA w/contrast which were otherwise unremarkable. This is a condition in which a bony structure called the styloid process grows too long from the base of the skull and begins to interfere with other internal structures around the neck. In my case the left styloid process was about 2 cm longer than it should have been and was compressing my dominant jugular vein against my C1 vertebrae. The diagnosis was that compression was the cause of the tinnitus.
Fortunately this was curable by surgical procedure called a styloidectomy. So it was off to the otolaryngologist for surgery. I was a bit scared. Its not major surgery but its not minor either. However the primary emotion I had was elation. To know silence again... the thought was almost unimaginable. The neurosurgeon that diagnosed me had mentioned that it was "almost clear as day" to what was causing the tinnitus after seeing the CTA scan, so I had a lot of hope.
I had that procedure done in November and the surgeon who did it was fantastic. I have a gnarly scar on my neck that looks pretty cool. But when I work up from the surgery and the tinnitus was still there. I was pretty down because not only was it still there, it was stuck on a spike, likely do to the trauma to that area during the surgery. I waited about a month for the scar to heal to see the surgeon again.
She walked in and asked how the surgery went and I said "It went great!" And it really had, The recovery was incredibly easy. I had almost no pain and the only negative side effect was that I was a bit numb on the bottom on the left side on my chin. That numbness extended about an inch or down the left side of my neck. She replied "That's great!." I asked "So when should I expect to see a reduction in the tinnitus symptoms?" The smile immediately dropped off her face and she said "Well I hoped it would have just miraculously gone away..." I got the final word recently that it was not Eagle Syndrome causing the tinnitus since the compression of the jugular vein was resolved. I return to the Pulsatile Tinnitus Clinic in April to see if they have any other ideas. I expect they wont, but we will see.
Tinnitus been an incredibly difficult, yet educational and enlightening journey for me thus far. I started at seriously considering the worst, to slowly uncovering ways to deal with it. Its still a nasty distraction and can spike at any time and take me down. I feel very lucky because I have found a tinnitus masker on youtube that will actually knock down a spike after about 3 min of listing to it. Without finding that, I don't know where I would be. With the aid of that track I have nearly achieved the depth of mediation I had previously and am finally starting to reclaim parts of my old self. I am able to play that track during zoom calls at work and focus on what people are saying.
Its still very tough and I am typing this through a spike that has been resistant to the neuromodulation track that I listen to. In uncontrollable moments like this, I look to what this experience has taught me to find comfort. It has given me such empathy for anyone with a chronic condition which before tinnitus I had not experienced. A loud, metallic wooshing sound is one thing, I can't even imagine what some folks deal with day to day. My heart goes out to all that have it worse than I do. I find new inspiration from those that have passed in my life that had chronic pain, cancer etc.. and still lived their life with such kindness and grace. I draw my strength from thinking of those people.
I have hope in the Lenire device that just got FDA approval. Its a tuned neuromodulation that one listens to over headphone along with electrical tongue stimulation. It has been effective at eliminating or reducing tinnitus in 80+% of patients who tired it in the UK. One uses the device for an hour a day for a prescribed period of time and apparently gets lasting relief. Heres to hope that it works for a great majority of folks on this forum and we can get access to it soon.
Thanks for reading if you made it this far. I hope we all have more quite than loud days ahead.

The History And Cultural Significance Of Ear Gauges And Plugs

Ear gauges and plugs have a long and fascinating history dating back thousands of years. From ancient tribes and cultures to modern-day fashion statements, ear stretching has played a significant role in the world of body modification. In this article, we'll explore the history and cultural significance of ear gauges and plugs.
Ear stretching has been practiced by numerous cultures throughout history, including the Egyptians, Mayans, and Aztecs. In ancient times, ear stretching was a sign of status and rank within a tribe or community. The larger the gauge, the more revered the individual was considered to be. Ear stretching was often reserved for male members of a community, as it was believed to increase their strength and virility.
In ancient Egypt, ear stretching was also a sign of wealth and status. The pharaohs and members of the royal court would often wear intricate and ornate plugs made of gold, silver, or precious stones. The larger the plugs, the higher the status of the wearer.
The Mayans and Aztecs also practiced ear stretching, using materials such as bone, jade, and obsidian for their plugs. The larger the gauge, the more significant the individual's standing within the community. Ear stretching was often reserved for religious or spiritual leaders, as well as warriors and members of the ruling class.
Moving forward in history, ear stretching became popular in other cultures, including the Polynesians, who developed their own unique methods of stretching their ears. The Polynesians used a technique called "tapa," which involved using a piece of woven cloth to stretch the earlobes gradually. The larger the earlobes, the more respected and revered the individual was considered to be.
In some African cultures, ear stretching was a sign of coming of age. Young men and women would stretch their ears as a rite of passage, signifying their transition into adulthood. In other cultures, such as the Mursi tribe in Ethiopia, women would stretch their earlobes to accommodate large, decorative clay discs.
Ear stretching has also played a significant role in modern-day fashion and subculture. In the 1970s, the punk movement popularized ear stretching as a form of rebellion against societal norms. The practice became more mainstream in the 1990s, with the rise of grunge and alternative fashion.
Today, ear gauges and plugs are a common form of body modification, with many people using them as a form of self-expression and personal style. Ear plugs and tunnels come in a variety of materials, including wood, bone, horn, glass, silicone, and metal. Some people choose to stretch their ears to larger sizes, while others prefer smaller gauges or even faux plugs that give the illusion of stretched lobes.
Despite its widespread popularity, ear stretching is not without its risks and potential complications. Improper stretching techniques or inadequate aftercare can lead to infection, scarring, or permanent damage to the earlobes. It's essential to research proper stretching techniques and care for your ear gauges and plugs to minimize these risks.
In conclusion, ear gauges and plugs have a rich and diverse history, dating back thousands of years. From ancient tribes and cultures to modern-day fashion and subculture, ear stretching has been used as a form of status, spirituality, and self-expression. While the practice is not without its risks, it continues to be a popular form of body modification for many people today.

2023.03.24 06:02 Superfrancis1233 Why are server racks/cabinets so expensive compared to standard cases?

I've been thinking about building a home server for media streaming, file storage, that type of thing sometime in the future, but while doing part research I noticed a lot of server racks and cabinets are crazy expensive, at least here in Canada. For the whole cabinets, I can totally understand a 32u locked cage on wheels to be pretty pricey, but even simple 6u wall mount racks made of like, 8 bars of metal seem to cost over $100.
Is there something special I'm missing about these racks that makes them worth that price, and is there anywhere I can find afforable racks? Or, is it just a matter of competition in the space being pretty low, and companies get to raise prices like mad because of it? I'm almost tempted to just buy a regular PC case or build my own rack at this rate. Apologies if this is a strange question, I just ain't seing what justifies a few metal bars with hole's in 'em being more expensive compared to a well machined PC case from NZXT or Cougar or something.
