Amerigas sucks - customer side
2023.05.27 18:59 itsthedurf Amerigas sucks - customer side
Amerigas is the worst company I've ever dealt with when it comes to utilities. While every call with their godforsaken call center assures me I'm a "valued customer," I haven't had propane since May 12. Every time someone has come to repair or refill, it takes 3-4 days, and I still don't have working gas.
When our hot water and gas stove stopped working, I paid for expedited service for them to refill the tank, which I didn't get. When I finally got them to show up, on May 16, I was told to schedule a repair. It was scheduled for May 22. They didn't show up. They "fixed" the tank on May 24, but couldn't refill it until today, May 27. Today, the deliveryman couldn't get the gas to work, despite trying for an hour. He put in a service request and I called. Soonest they can come is June 1.
Every time I call they "escalate" my request and "expedite" what they can, and they still come at the very last moment. My gas delivery could have come 3 days ago if it had actually been expedited, and this problem would have been found sooner, but nope, that's not the way they operate. I didn't even know a temporary tank was a possibility until I started calling around for new service, and another company suggested it. I asked Amerigas customer service if they could bring one, and from what I can tell, even if they could, they still wouldn't be able to do it before my next appointment. Why? No idea.
At this point I'm trying to saturate the Internet with as many bad reviews as I can. I have small kids and don't have any hot water, can't do dishes or laundry, and we're heating water in the microwave to bathe. I can't wait to switch companies. I won't be happy until there's either a class action lawsuit or they go out of business. Absolutely the worst company I've ever worked with.

2023.05.17 14:51 Zstruzi How long until AmeriGas has to pick up my propane tanks?
Hey everyone I called and cancelled my Amerigas service on March 26th 2023 and they still have not picked up my tanks. Now I am being charged a tank rental fee and they said they will prorate it to however long until they pick the tanks up. I read through the terms and conditions and I cannot find how long they have to pick up the tanks and I was wondering if anyone knew and any action I can take to help get them to finally pick it up after a month and a half?
Update 1: I sent the letter to them on the 17th and they called me 2 days later saying why I wanted the propane tanks picked up. Weird right? I stated I cancelled service on March 26th 2023 and she said that they only have a call logged in the system on may 12th and asked me again why I wanted the tanks picked up. So I stated I am no longer using their service and she said she will escalate it. So we will see how long that takes them before itâs considered abandoned and I can make a quick buck.
Update 2: They came today to pick up the tanks, now I have to call them to see if they ever closed out my accounts and any bills I may still owe although they should all be paid âşď¸

2023.04.18 17:34 Lonewolf1298_ Local propane company called and claimed that the propane tank on my property belonged to them and was leased by them when I've already confirmed with my realtor and amerigas that my tank is owned by amerigas who I used to fill my tank.
Sorry for long title. Pretty much says it all though, a company called Blossman Gas here in VA claims that the propane tank on my property is owned by them and is being leased by then when I was told the opposite by my realtor and amerigas when I first purchased the property almost a year ago. What do I do? Should I just ignore them?

2023.04.15 06:37 PlayfulLatios Amerigas Delivery Problems
Any other stores running into issues of Amerigas or whoever your stores propane vendor is not delivering? I have called not once, not twice, but three times in the past week and a half and still no propane. The best the rep could tell me today is now on Monday that we *should* have a delivery. I don't fully trust them because the other times I have called I was told it should be there in 1-2 days.
Corporate if you are reading this, please get on Amerigas's butt and light them up.

2023.04.10 20:19 satanismymaster Does anyone have any experience fixing billing issues with AmeriGas?
I'm an AmeriGas customer. I received a bill for $742.58 for a service call, tank swap, and propane fill that was done in February. The issue is not one single person from AmeriGas came to my property in February, nobody from my home requested those services in February, and they just weren't done. I don't know who that invoice should've gone to, but it shouldn't have gone to mine.
I called AmeriGas in March to get this cleared up. The customer service agent I spoke with told me that they didn't have the power to fix the issue , but would forward it to their billing department who would fix it in 24-48. The issue was not resolved in 48 hours. So, I waited a week before calling back.
When I called back, the new customer service agent told me they couldn't explain why the issue wasn't fixed, but would escalate the issue to ensure that it got fixed. They told me to wait 24-48 hours. It was not resolved after 48 hours.
I repeated this process another two times, and each time I was told that it'd be fixed in 24-48 hours, and the charges still haven't left my account.
The fifth customer service told me the same thing, but they also told me that wouldn't let customers speak directly to the team responsible for resolving issues like mine, and there's nobody at AmeriGas I can talk to with more authority than them. In other words, the only people I can speak to at AmeriGas to fix this are the people who can't fix it.
If it were a smaller bill, I'd just pay it to be done with the hassle, but it's a chunk of money and I loathe the idea of paying for a service that nobody asked for and wasn't performed.
Has anybody dealt with something similar from AmeriGas or another propane company? I spoke to the Maine Public Utilities Commission but since they don't regulate propane distributors they can't really do anything with my complaint. I'm just out of ideas, and my weekly calls to AmeriGas are getting old.

2023.04.08 17:26 sub-ox Local propane costs
I live in Albemarle County (just outside Charlottesville), and for the past few months my monthly propane bills have been extremely high. Almost double what they were for the previous five years.
My propane supplier, Amerigas, claims via their customer service line that this is due to to âmarket fluctuationsâ. However, looking at propane prices on the internet I canât see anything to merit increases like this.
Has anyone else been seeing astronomical propane bills in albemarle county? Any thoughts on whether I should switch suppliers?

Just wanted to confirm that I got my 5% on filling up my homeâs propane. I have a 1,000 tank that was near empty so not an insignificant purchase. Also, I signed up with AmeriGas and they gave me a first time customer $2.04/gal where my local company and going rate was $2.80/gal.

2023.03.18 20:45 mofuda What do you think could be the problem?
I have an older Weber Q grill, possibly 10-15 years old. Iâve been using it reliably for the last 3 years with the green Coleman propane canisters.
A few months ago I decided to buy a 15 lb Amerigas propane tank, and used it once and it worked great. However, the next time I tried to use it, it wouldnât work.
The problem Iâm having is that the flame burns bright for about 5 seconds after turning the grill on, then the flame peters out to just a very low flame height. The grill doesnât get much hotter than 200 degrees F.
Weber says that there is âbypassâ mode which will be triggered if the grill is lit improperly. So I follow their instructions to fix it, but Iâm still running in the same issue.
I contacted Weber support, and they ran me through the same process. They had me buy some more Coleman green canisters, which I did and they work great, no issues whatsoever with temperature or flames. So I think thereâs no issue with the regulator.
I live in a warm climate, so I donât think the cold messing with propane pressure is the issue. The tank is still full of gas.
What do you think I should do/try next?

2023.03.14 04:35 LeadDispensary Suggestions for a new propane supplier?
My preferred dealer of propane and propane accessories (Tru Gas on 192) has long since been absorbed into the corporate giant that is Suburban propane. I've not been impressed with their service OR their price.
Who do y'all use for propane here and why do you like them? I have a 120 gallon residential tank and I'm not a big user, but I don't want to pay $9 a gallon plus delivery charges if I don't have to. I don't own the tank and would be either renting a tank, renting to own or buying a new tank and regulator.
I've heard good things about Amerigas and Como
Thanks!

2023.03.13 18:05 zillatortilla Local Amerigas contact
Hello fellow buried friends. Does anyone have a phone numbe contact for our local Amerigas office? We keep getting notified that they are coming to fill our tank, we dig it out, and they never show up. We have called them multiple times to get a confirmation on when they will arrive and the generic phone line always says by end of day. Itâs just extremely frustrating and we will definitely switch to eastern Sierra propane after this! Thanks

2023.03.08 22:42 b4g3405 TOML: BE PREPARED FOR PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW AND POTENTIAL FLOODING IN MAMMOTH LAKES
View this in your browser The Town of Mammoth Lakes is notifying all residents and visitors to be prepared for a significant Atmospheric River event bringing high elevation snow, heavy rain and strong winds to Mammoth Lakes beginning
Thursday evening, March 9, through Sunday morning, March 12, 2023. Travelers are advised to visit the Caltrans
QuickMap site for updated road conditions and chain restrictions.
Winter Storm Watch National Weather Service Reno has issued a
Winter Storm Watch for Mono County and the Town of Mammoth Lakes through
Sunday, March 12, 2023. The forecast is for 2 to 5 feet of snow above 8,500 feet, and 1 to 2 feet between 7,500 and 8,500 feet including Mammoth Lakes and June Lake. On Thursday, snow levels will start at all valley floors, but are forecast to rapidly rise early Friday morning to around the 7,500-8,000 plus foot level during the heaviest precipitation. Winds could gust as high as 120 mph along the Sierra Crest.
A
Flood Watch is also in effect for the same time period in Mammoth Lakes. Heavy rain with higher snow levels is expected to bring the risk of flooding between Thursday night and Friday. Flooding concerns are high with giant snowbanks throughout Town blocking normal drainage channels that may cause water to flow into unusual areas.
Be prepared by identifying and removing snow and ice from your closest storm drain to facilitate runoff. Sandbags Sandbags will be available from the
Town Yard (299 Commerce Drive) between 8am â 8pm on Thursday (3/9) and Friday (3/10). Follow the signs to the âCinder Shopâ from Commerce Blvd. The Town asks that you only take what you need (max. 20) and be respectful of others. Please do not place the sandbags in the roadway, place the sandbags at least 3 feet from the edge of the road so they do not get damaged by snow removal operators. Review the
map for directions.
Important Life Safety Message The Town of Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Lakes Fire Department would like to remind residents of several life safety issues.
These include the accumulation of large amounts of snow/ice on roofs, the blockage of vents for heating and hot water appliances, and the maintenance needed to safely use propane. Heavy Snow Load on Roofs The Town of Mammoth Lakes
Building Division is notifying all property owners to be aware of, understand and manage the signs of
structural damage resulting from heavy snow. Structural roof problems will be further compounded this weekend with the additional weight of rainwater absorbing into the existing snow adding considerable stress on your home.
Now is the time to clear your roof or at least remove the top third or of half of the snow from the structure. Small cracks in drywall and doors not closing fully can be common symptoms of snow-load-induced stress on buildings. While this may at first appear to be alarming, these signs are normal, even in average snow years, and your building is likely to be structurally sound. However, should you see broken or fractured structural members, such as roof rafters and beams, or deformed roof or wall surfaces, please report that damage right away to the
Mammoth Lakes Building Division at (760) 937-5939 or (760) 965-3632. The Town has posted important and potentially lifesaving information on the Town of Mammoth Lakes
website, under âQuick Linksâ and as a printable PDF to help property owners understand the signs of structural damage from heavy snow and to help mitigate these impacts with local resources. Helpful and critical resources include contacts for local snow removal contractors as well as other general contractors, engineers, and building supply stores.
For additional information, please contact the Town of Mammoth Lakes Building Division at (760) 965-3632. Propane Tanks and Vents For those homeowners that use propane, several responsibilities come with its use. The top of the tank needs to be routinely dug out and cleared to allow access to the shutoff valve and regulator venting. In addition, make sure that unprotected sections of all exterior gas pipes are cleared of snow/ice and protected from shedding snow and ice from your roof. Downward snow pressure from snow settlement and falling snow/ice from roofs has caused many pipe sections to crack resulting in leaks. Unfortunately, if the leak occurs under the snow, the snow traps the gas, and it may be some time before the leak is detected. Homeowners, landlords and tenants need to make sure that vents for appliances are cleared of snow and inspected so that a build-up of carbon monoxide inside does not occur. It is highly recommended that carbon monoxide detectors be installed inside structures in order to alert occupants to the build-up of carbon monoxide gas.
Call the MLFD at (760) 934-2300 for additional information. Temporary Overnight Parking The Town of Mammoth Lakes has designated the
Mammoth Ice Rink parking lot (416 Sierra Park Rd.) as a temporary overnight parking site for lodging guests and visitors in need of parking this weekend.
Visitors are requested to NOT park in front of the Mammoth Lakes Library or the upper ice rink parking lot, but directly adjacent to the Mammoth Ice Rink. Visitors will not be ticketed during their stay but are asked to vacate the temporary overnight parking site by Sunday, March 12 at 6:00pm to allow for snow removal operations. Snow removal will be on-going during the evening and daylight hours. Review the
map for directions.
The Mammoth Lakes Police Department is reminding citizens that there is no street parking from November 1 through April 30. Vehicles found parked in violation of these ordinances are subject to receiving a parking citation and/or may be impounded at the ownerâs expense. Please park all vehicles as far off the roadway as possible behind the orange snow stakes. Identify your vehicleâs location with poles to keep it visible for snow removal operators.
Public Information The Town advises residents and visitors to be prepared by listening to KMMT 106.5 Sierra Wave 92.5 or KIBS 100.7 for current chain restrictions, road closures or shelter openings.
In the event of any emergency, please call 911 for assistance. Important Contact Numbers

2023.02.22 15:00 siaidistogwe Buy 500 gallon Underground Tank from Amerigas
I bought a house that came with a 500 gallon Amerigas owned propane tank. I'd like to switch my propane provider to my local small town provider but I can't since Amerigas owns the tank.
Amerigas is very difficult to deal with since they've outsourced all of their offices to the Philippines. It's very difficult to ask questions off script as their answers are inconsistent from agent to agent and they are difficult to understand. This thread sums a lot of the frustrations up:
https://www.consumeraffairs.com/utilities/amerigas.html I can't get a hold of anyone that can give me an answer of what it would cost to buy my tank from Amerigas. Has anyone had any luck with this and if so, how did you get in contact with someone to do this? Has anyone had any luck with Amerigas tank removal?
The worst part is, I have so many propane accessories (propane timer for the fireplace, remote propane monitor) I want to buy form my small town provider. I asked Amerigas and they said they no longer provide propane accessories. Just propane
EDIT: I realize this might be a duplicate of (
https://www.reddit.com/propane/comments/ym2pvv/amerigas_tank_removal/). I'm interested in how to get through to someone at Amerigas that has the authority to sell the tank to me instead of a tank removal. It sounds like based on this thread that the best option might be to buy a new tank at $4300 and leave the amerigas tank buried and hope they forget about it.
