2023.03.24 07:03 Jackfruit-Brave Does anyone remember this story?
It's been about 9 years since I've heard this story and I am in not a very skilled story writer so bear with me. I also may not get all of the details exactly right.
I honestly don't even know if this story actually existed and was just made up by the kids I went to school with, but a lot of my classmates used to recite this story an awful lot so I figure it may have come from the internet. All I know is that it used to creep me out. Keep in mind there were a few alternate versions of this story but I'm going to stick to the one I heard the most.
So anyway, it went something along the lines of this:
There is this family of three, a mother, father and daughter. The daughters name was Sally and I don't think the parents were named originally but for the sake of this retelling I will call them Mary and John. I cannot for the life of me remember accurately the reason why, but there comes a point where Mary and John decide to get rid of their daughter. I may be wrong, but I believe it could have been because of her bad behavioral issues and the fact that she was just a really horrible kid. So anyway, by get rid of I mean they literally take sally to a random location in the middle of nowhere and just leave her there. Again, I'm a little foggy on the details but I'm pretty sure the parents decide to murder her and dump the body somewhere that it won't be found. a bit extreme but to each their own I suppose. So once the body is delt with John and Mary return home and go to bed.
fast forward about a couple of weeks and the parents are in bed trying to sleep when John is awoken by the faint sound of a voice. Concerned and scared, he gets up to go and check it out. He searches the house but finds nothing and assumes it was just a dream. The following night the same thing occurs but this time the voice is heard by both parents. John explains his experience from the night prior and both him and his wife become increasingly worried that someone may be in their house. Both sit quietly for a moment until they hear the voice again. They begin to realize that the voice is repeating itself every few seconds, though they can't seem to make out what it is saying as it is too quiet. Suddenly the voice stops. John hesitantly scouts the house once again but finds nothing.
The next night Mary is unable to sleep due to her paranoia about what had happened previously. In an attempt to ease her mind, she checks that all the doors and windows in the house are locked. After getting back into bed and hoping to fall asleep she suddenly hears the voice again. terrified, she quickly wakes her husband. Like before, the voice seems to repeat itself with an interval of a few seconds, though this time it's different. This time the voice has become slightly louder and clearer. John and Mary are petrified when they recognize the voice as none other than Sally's. They sit in fear as Sally's voice softly and repeatedly chants the words "Sally is 70 miles away". After speaking these lines for several minutes, the voice stops once again. John and Mary consider calling the police but ultimately come to the conclusion that this would be a risk as it could get them caught.
From that night onward John and Mary would try their best to ignore the horrifying voice of what seemed to be their own daughter chanting each night. Since the police were not an option, there was really nothing they could do but hope that it was some kind of prank or something. They really didn't know what to believe, there was no way that this could be possible, hearing their own deceased daughter's voice. They had noticed that a family with seemingly troublesome children had moved in next door not long after Sally's death. Mary had witnessed these kids messing around with other people's property before, like damaging mailbox's and such. With this in mind Mary and John hoped that they were just being messed with; however, as time went by and the chanting continued, things only got more unsettling. Each night the voice would get louder and seem closer and would say the same thing but with one small difference every time; it would claim to be closer each night. When the voice first became audible to John and Mary it spoke the words "Sally is 70 miles away" and the night after that "Sally is 60 miles away", and then 50, 40, 30 and so on. By this point both parents would refuse to sleep, staying up all night scared and disturbed as to what they were hearing until one night, it stopped.
Finally, after a week of listening in horror and being deprived of sleep, Mary and John were able to get some sleep. Things returned to normal and though their experience had left them terrified, the couple tried their best to forget both what had happened and what they had done to their daughter. They had moved on and were living their lives normally.
This was until one night, after several weeks, they heard the voice again. This time it was the loudest and closest it had ever been. John and Mary were in complete disbelief as to what they were hearing. Mary on the verge of tears, yelling out for the voice to stop while John sat silent, too scared to talk. Again, the voice would say it's chant but this time it was different, this time it began with "Sally is at your front door". A few moments later the voice would speak again and say, "Sally is in the kitchen". By this time John and Mary were the most scared they had ever been in their lives, with the covers pulled up to their mouths they sat unable to move looking straight ahead waiting and hoping it would go away. After almost a minute of waiting, the voice spoke again, "Sally is at your bedroom door".
A few weeks later the parents were found dead in their bed covered in blood.
well, that was longer than I thought it was going to be. As I said at the beginning there were a few different versions of this story going around and this one might be pretty modified from the original, but this is the one I was told. Whether this is the actual story or not, it followed the basic premise of this.

2023.03.24 07:02 Irritable_janja Neighbors dogs are vicious
Hi, I’m extremely frustrated right now. My parents neighbors have dogs, they let run loose. They’ve attacked multiple people historically, sending my immune compromised father and my older neighbor to the hospital. For some context, there’s a field in between two of the houses in my cul de sac. Growing up, the children in the neighborhood called it “the secret short-cut”. It’s kind of in between a cluster of houses, and has been used as a short cut to the main road by everyone in my cul de sac since I was a child. The neighbors with the dogs house borders the east most side of the field, and from what I know, the field itself legally belongs to all the neighbors to which it borders, there’s no specifics property lines. These dogs have run up, snarling and barking, intimidating people who walk through, since I was much younger. They bit my brother once when he was young, the police and neighbors were informed, nothing came of it. People walk the west most path of the field due to this, which border the yards of neighbors who have given verbal permission for us to do so. Last year, my father was walking to his work through the field, and the dogs attacked him. They bit him so hard that the pen in his pocket lodged into his leg and he was sent to the ER. Of course the police were once again notified, and nothing happened. Yesterday, my neighbor was walking through the field, and the dogs attacked her, causing her to fall to the ground. She covered her face and neck with her hands, resulting in her hand being torn to shreds, it’s gruesome. I believe had she have not covered her throat, she could have been close to killed. Many others including me have been attacked by the dogs, but lucky enough that the owners came out and yelled at their dogs to lay off. Never an apology though, and no action taken. My parents showed me the image and it looked like you could see bone. She needed 24 stitches. The police were notified again, nothing happened. Not only this, one of their dogs is neurotic, seemingly abused by the way he acts. This one isn’t violent, but they lock him out of the house, sometimes over night in freezing temperatures. He will stand in peoples yards and bark at their house ALL NIGHT. He’s too skittish to be approached, so I called animal control last winter, and I was informed there was multiple reports about the dog, yet he still runs free through the neighborhood barking constantly. These neighbors are pretty influential in my small town community, they own a restaurant which my boyfriend, and the son of the recently attacked neighbor work at. It seems the police favor them in some way as I’m shocked at the lack of lawful action taken in this situation. Recently attacked neighbor was encouraged to sue by my parents, but she doesn’t seem to want to. She’s in her late fifties and has plenty of life stresses as is, which I assume is the reason why not. My father is extremely ill, and my step mom is very overwhelmed taking care of him, so I doubt I can convince them to sue either. They do want something done about it though, and they’re about as frustrated as I am. I don’t know what I can do to see justice in this situation. There’s more details that make the situation intensely frustrating, but I don’t think they are necessary to the point. I feel helpless and infuriated. I love dogs but this seems like a situation where the dogs should be put down. It seems like an injustice and further evidence of neglect that the owners can’t care enough to keep their dogs contained, preventing them from situations where legally, they should be euthanized.

2023.03.24 07:02 abysmalrotoscoping How can I contribute more to my marriage?
I feel that my marriage is super imbalanced and I’d like to change that.
My husband is 20 years older than me and makes 10x as much money as I’ve ever made previously in my life. I have never contributed a dime financially to our marriage as I was recently unemployed due to Covid when we married. I’ve never worked since we’ve been together.
I also was not just poor but a poor single mom with a bunch of financial and legal issues. He covered everything without raising an eyebrow. My kids have opportunities I could never have dreamed of for them and my lifestyle went from destitute and miserably stressful to relaxing and luxurious. Like, taking the city bus to dumpy cockroach apartment, to traveling in first class to summer in Europe type of difference.
So on top of this massively imbalanced dynamic, here is what he contributes:
- spends as much spare time with our baby as possible, is a super hands on dad, practically races me to get her for nighttime wakeups because he loves to spend time with her, takes her out on errands multiple times a week so I can rest and sleep in
- completely handles all finances and planning. I have 2 credit cards and i use them and that’s it. I don’t have the bank logins or anything. Occasionally he’ll tell me we need to slow down spending this month, or that he wishes I’d consulted him about a large purchase, but otherwise he just handles everything. He also handles vacations and insurance and home and car expenses and bills and investments. He has said he wishes I were more involved as a partner in these areas but I honestly don’t even know where to begin since he currently covers it all and has his own systems that I don’t understand / aren’t how I work.
- handles all “man” type tasks around the house. fixing things, yard, trash, tree trimming, treating property for ticks, anything involving a ladder.
- handles most of the animal care including scheduling vet appts, hygiene etc
- thanks me and appreciates my efforts constantly
I contribute:
- 100% of cleaning and cooking. I don’t think he’s touched the dishwasher or washing machine or vacuum in like 9-12 months and he basically never uses the kitchen unless he wants a late night snack or something. I make him a nice dinner and either a nice breakfast or lunch which I bring to him in bed or in his office, along with his vitamins and green juices. I keep his home office fridge stocked and always have icy infused water always available. He just leaves his dishes wherever (table, nightstand, desk) and clothes on the floor and I gather them. The house is not pristine because I just can’t do that much pregnant with an infant, but at least I do enough that he doesn’t have to do anything
- large majority of childcare, monitoring health and development, stocking baby care items, planning activities and appointments, etc
- i give him a massage every single night, am always sexually available, try to run him nice baths and other pampery things
- Make sure he gets more downtime than me. He plays 2 hours of video games per night in the massage chair or hot tub while I’m cleaning up
I already feel stretched thin but I am hyper aware of the imbalance every day. He wanted to hire a housekeeper and nanny but that would take away the few things I actually contribute so I’ve resisted even while overwhelmed. I tell myself I’ll be taking care of him when he’s old so I can finally like we’re more even, lol.
But in the meantime, what can I possibly do to be more of an equal partner?

2023.03.24 07:01 IYFS88 Really struggling with an anxiety episode for an upcoming event
I guess this is a vent, happy if anyone can commiserate for this kind of thing, any tips etc.
I’m currently having the week from hell with an anxiety spell (heart racing, hard to fall asleep, heavy ruminating), and it’s because of…get this…my 7 year old son’s upcoming birthday party!
There are some valid reasons to feel a little nervous about it: It’s at my house and we kind of ended up with too many people, some of the school friends & parents are strangers, it might rain so the kids can’t go outside, one bathroom etc.
But instead of feeling minor fleeting nervousness, I wake up each day lately feeling like I’m being chased by wolves! I know this level of dread is irrational. My husband has dealt with anxiety before so he is being as supportive as he can, but this is not his kind of trigger so I still feel kind of alone in this.
One good thing is it’ll all be over in under 48 hours, so hopefully the anxiety episode will end. I just hope it doesn’t turn into another phase where I’m cringing heavily over little things that happened and wondering if everyone now hates me afterwards. Again, irrational - I’ve been to parties where little things went wrong and never changed my feelings about those involved.
Each day I’ve worked hard to talk myself down from the worrying, then I literally cannot stop the flood of anxiety the next morning. I have tried guided mediation, anxiety YouTube vids, gave up my little nighttime thc pen habit, added new exercise, journaling and none of it helps. I just hate that I can’t control it.
I used to have these home parties when my son was younger, but it was more of my friends and their kids, and I think Covid isolation did a number on my social confidence and skills. As for the future, I’m absolutely never doing a party like this again. Last year his park bday party stressed me out too, albeit in other ways. If my husband wants to plan something on his own that’s great, but I think we’ll switch over to maybe taking one good friend mini golfing or bowling. My son is easygoing about a different plan next year, and it kills me that maybe if I’d talked to him weeks ago I could’ve avoided this whole party in the first place.
TL/DR: I can’t stop stressing over what should be a minor event

| https://preview.redd.it/dx0yafg2mmpa1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2861de1549f559281e6f57669625da22f2ae0959 Dubai's booming economy is a significant draw for visitors. Expats, business travelers, and tourists all contribute to this migration. Othman el Ballouti explained that the city's robust housing market is another selling point for potential buyers. Many investors find real estate in Dubai appealing because of the city's high rental yields, favorable tax circumstances, and low crime rates. Dubai might become one of the most valuable real estate markets globally. Downtown Dubai is well-liked by sightseers for more than just its towering skyscrapers. The Burj Khalifa, a famous landmark, is a prime example of this. Even though property values have increased significantly, this neighborhood still offers attractive returns. Last year, the average yearly return on Downtown Dubai properties through SmartCrowd was 6.52 percent, making it a fantastic choice for long-term investors. JLT, located across from the Dubai marina, is a prime spot to buy an apartment in Dubai. These high-rise flats are close to three malls and the Dubai Metro, making them a great investment opportunity while providing residents with a high quality of life at a reasonable price. Investors love this established area because of its prime location and promising new construction. In this neighborhood, a one-bedroom apartment would run you around AED 1.15m, while a two-bedroom will go you around AED 1.9m. Affluent locals and visitors alike flock here because of the area's stellar reputation as a prime real estate hotspot. The site has a robust secondary market, attracting purchasers interested in high-end homes. The area's proximity to some of Dubai's most famous attractions makes it desirable for short- and long-term rentals. The proximity to the world-famous Burj Khalifa and the abundance of services make this high-rise community a top choice for Dubai property investors. It's a great buy due to its proximity to the airport, shopping centers, and various eateries. Damac Hills 2 is a good option for anyone investing in a high-end condo or villa in Dubai. It is a well-planned, eco-friendly neighborhood that is expected to grow further. Despite the recent downturn in the global economy, Dubai's real estate sector has held steady. Dubai's government provides transparent rules and policies, making it the best place to invest in real estate. submitted by othmanelballouti0 to u/othmanelballouti0 [link] [comments] |
2023.03.24 06:55 thelaxmigroup 5 steps to take if you want to buy a house in 2023
It is a dream of many to be a proud homeowner, to have a property in one’s name as a place to reside in or as an investment asset. But any aspiring home buyer must do their due diligence when it comes to arranging their finances and selecting the right neighbourhood, developer and apartment.
Buying a home is a big decision as it involves a considerable sum of money. Considering the conditions in the past two years given the pandemic, lockdowns and the challenges of one’s existing property of residence, the real estate market is now witnessing many people who want to upgrade to a comfortable home in a convenient neighbourhood.
If you are considering an upgrade in the form of a new purchase, you have to do your homework now so you can be a proud homeowner in 2023.
Here are 5 steps to take if you want to buy a house in the next year.
- Choose the right neighborhood
There is a reason why real estate is all about location. The neighbourhood you reside in will make or break your entire living experience. In a city like Mumbai, it is best to go for a location that is well connected
3 bhk in malad west, with conveniences and social infrastructures like schools, hospitals, malls, temples, and markets around. You can go for an established neighbourhood, an upcoming neighbourhood or upgrade in your existing neighbourhood if you are content and comfortable.
- Go for the right real estate developer
This is a crucial step. It is best to go with a
real estate developer with a proven track record of fulfilling commitments, RERA certified products and someone with good testimonials. Go for a developer with good experience, goodwill and customer service.
- Improve your credit score
Most homebuyers go for a housing loan when buying their house. But to get favourable terms on the loan, you will have to have a good credit score. There are many ways to do this but it will also require time. You can work backwards by setting a date when you intend to buy a home and then work backwards towards improving your credit score.
- Save for down payment and then some
Even if you have an excellent credit score, it is advisable to keep a certain amount ready for the down payment of your property and other expenses that may arise in the form of stamp duty and registration expenses. This will make the overall purchase comfortable for you and will not overload your other financial commitments.
- Shortlist the right loan partner
It is very important to shortlist and select the right loan partner because buying a home on loan is a long term financial commitment. You have to take into consideration various factors like the rate of interest, eligibility criteria, processing fee, repayment terms and so on when selecting a bank or loan partner.
Follow these steps and become a proud homeowner in 2023.

2023.03.24 06:50 online_int1208 Bats live with dozens of nasty viruses — can studying them help stop pandemics?
| https://preview.redd.it/74wg268klmpa1.jpg?width=1248&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=981134bda8766f7c80ccca539bed2a169db4f275 Randy Foo fills a pipette with orange juice from a bottle clearly labelled ‘For Bats ONLY’. He and his colleague Rommel Yroy are seated at a biological safety cabinet, wrapped in blue gowns and wearing face shields, gloves, scrub pants and shoe covers. Peeping out of Yroy’s clasped hands are two round, glossy black eyes, two slight, pointy ears and the furry snout of a young, male cave nectar bat (Eonycteris spelaea). It is wriggling and squealing, occasionally protruding its long, pink tongue to lick driblets of the sweet drink. This is a little treat for enduring a transfer in a blue cotton bag from its cage to the laboratory, followed by a quick weigh-in and inspection for injuries along its stretched-out wings and dense, fur coat. “The younger guys are generally a little bit more feisty,” says Foo. The bat in Yroy’s hand is one of some 140 cave nectar bats housed in a research breeding colony in Singapore — the first in Asia. Foo, who manages the colony and is affiliated with Duke–National University of Singapore (Duke–NUS) Medical School, and Yroy, a veterinary technician at Sing Health Experimental Medicine Centre, have nurtured the bats for years. The original 19 members of the colony were caught using butterfly nets under highways around Singapore in 2015 and 2016; the first pups arrived a couple of years later. The colony was set up by Lin-fa Wang, a virologist at Duke–NUS Medical School to create a controlled setting for studying bat biology, including the inner workings of their immune system. For Wang, who has spent decades studying bats and infectious diseases, the colony has been a research boon, allowing him to ask questions about, for example, the cells that make up bat immune systems and how they respond to an infection. Now that the bats are breeding productively, the team’s research can be replicated more easily. They have shared bat tissue with about a dozen teams around the world. “Bats have become a hot topic,” says Wang. Close-up of a researcher holding a cave nectar bat pup with gloved hands Researchers at a bat colony in Singapore perform a health check on a young cave nectar Randy Foo, Duke-NUS Medical School Wang’s research niche has become more crowded since the emergence of SARS-CoV-2. Attendance at talks and conferences about bats is rising — at one symposium hosted last year in the United States, there were 30% more participants compared with the same event organized before the pandemic — and funders are ploughing money into studies of bats and infectious diseases: in 2021, for instance, both China and the United States announced specific funding pots for research into bats and viruses. Of particular interest is the bat immune system, especially its ability to tolerate viruses that are deadly to people and other mammals — from Ebola to Nipah and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). Although bat immunity is poorly understood, its consequences are clear: bats are thought to be the source of various catastrophic viral outbreaks in humans. The field is now at an inflection point, fuelled partly by the pandemic. Researchers who have spent decades studying infections in bats, together with enthusiastic newcomers, are developing and applying new tools to the question of how bats can live with such dangerous pathogens. Some hope that those insights could one day lead to treatments for tackling infections in people and ways to prevent viruses spilling over from bats. “There are going to be some huge steps forward in the next two or three years in terms of bat virology and bat immunology,” says Tony Schountz, an immunologist at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Mangoes and melons The bats in Wang’s colony are a precious resource, and the researchers treat them accordingly. Over the years, they have tweaked the bats’ diet and environment to keep the animals healthy. The bats enjoy fresh chopped melon, papaya and mango, powdered milk and a sweet-smelling, nectar-like liquid. A burlap sack hangs from the top of each cage to give the bats — who live in groups of about 25 — some privacy and darkness. Foo plans to introduce further enrichments when the colony moves to a facility with larger cages later this year. “The colony has given us everything we wanted,” says Wang. His office is adorned with souvenirs collected over the years — a ‘batman’ keychain, a bat-printed mug, resin-encased bat specimens, framed drawings of bats. The researchers have studied the bats’ genomes and the diversity of viruses the animals host. They have also used bats’ cells to develop airway organoids — mini organs grown from stem cells. Their current experiments are focused on the bats’ response to infection, their ageing process and their very active metabolism during flight. The colony is a valuable research resource. submitted by online_int1208 to u/online_int1208 [link] [comments] |
2023.03.24 06:44 HarrisonGrey Moving a paper wasp nest to my new apartment?
I've got a Common Paper Wasp (polistes exclamans) nest being built on my apartment patio. As of right now, it's just the foundress queen, the cells aren't even fully constructed (she got slowed down by a coldfront), and I don't think any eggs have been laid yet, though I think she'll lay them soon. I should have 6 weeks, probably more, before there are any other adults hatched from the nest. The conundrum is that I'm moving to a new apartment in 5 weeks. This is a second generation nest; there was a nest on the patio all last year, and I'm all but certain that this is a baby from last year's nest all grown up and with a colony of her own. I don't want her to get killed by the new renters or the apartment employees, and I've grown emotionally attached, so I kind of want to move her to the new apartment. Anyone here done anything like this before? My plan, at the moment, is to build a wooden housing that I can attach the nest to, and then mount the housing at the new location. I was curious if anyone knew if she would be likely to stick with the nest in the event of a move that dramatic. There should be larva in the nest by that point, I assume she wouldn't abandon them.

2023.03.24 06:44 FennecAdmirer I got kicked out of a catholic church by the priest himself for doing what i was told to do.
So, a bit of context, i live in mexico and we practice Catholicism (for those who didn't know), we have these rituals called "la primera comunión" (first communion) and "la confirmación"(confirmation) which every catholic has to go through at some point of their lives after several semesters of "catesismo" (bible study), usually people have to first get the first communion before being able to do the confirmation, if everything goes well, the person would have completed their confirmation at somewhere around 10 years old, the only problem is, i was around 14 yo AND an atheist (at this age i was just coming out to my family, but it's been a while since my doubts), my family wanted me so badly to do the first communion and were even pressuring me a bit because i was already way behind(i hadn't had my confirmation due to a LOT of moving out and other shenanigans), but, i refused, they where rather surprised and started trying to convince me on doing it, after a few months of back and fort they told me that my uncle (the favourite of my uncles) have never been someone else's godfather (yes, we have a godfather and godmother in every event) and that he wished to be someone's godfather so much, so, i finally accepted, really just to please him, to be honest i now see that it was just a dirty trick because my uncle took it very lightly, like "cool" level lightly, anyway, i'm getting off track.
We started preparing everything that i needed for the ceremony, the suit, flowers, a bible, a place where to hold the event, between other things, one of those were to "confess", so we went to a big historical church on my town (we have lots of historical buildings from the spanish colonization and they are pretty impressive), my parents told me to go in and confess myself to the priest, so i did, i went in there, i met with the priest and he took me to a backroom with two chairs, he sat me down and asked me to confess my "sins", and i let it out, it went something like this(mind that this was about 8 years ago and my memory is a bit fuzzy). The priest, with a calm and cordial tone began "so, tell me, what's wrong? what have you done?", which i replied with " I haven't really don't anything, i am just here because my parents told me to", the priest looked a little confused and asked "So, why would they tell you to come here if you have done nothing? you must have done something?", i again talked and said "No, not really, you see, i am doing my first communion soon and i was told that i needed to come here", the priest, now even more confused asked "why are you getting your first communion this late?" (mind that i look way younger that my age, but it was still way too late for a kid to get the first communion, which was strange to see around these parts), i spoke, now a bit nervous "well, i don't really believe in god and" he cut me off with and somewhat angry shout "what? you don't believe?" i was allowed to continue as he stared me down with an angry stare "well, no, i've doubted for a while, and i don't really believe that there is a god" The priest at this point was RED, he looked like he wanted to rip my throat out and then he just went off "Do you think that this is a game? huh!? how dare you set foot in my church if you don't even believe" he raises his hand, at the moment i kind of felt that it was an incoming strike, but instead he aggressively pointed away "GET OUT, AND DON'T COME BACK UNTIL YOU TRULLY BELIEVE", then i got up and kind jogged/nervously walked outside the room, and closed the heavy old wooden door on my way out, then i just kinda chickened outside the church, i was both scared and... how do i put it... i know! "I cant believe i just did that that was crazy hs", yes, i felt those both things... and i also felt a little bit bad. Anyway, i came back to the car after i switched the look of fear on my face into a fake smile, my parents asked me "how was it" and i told them "oh, the priest kicked me out", both of my parents' jaws dropped, their faces went red (with both anger and embarrassment i believe) and they said "WHAT???", so i repeated "yea, he kicked me out during the confession", they asked with anger "what did you say to him?!", which i replied with "the truth", they knew exactly what i was talking about, we stayed parked while they figured what to do next while scolding me from time to time, after a while they took me to the house of a friend of theirs who was also a priest and told me to go "confess" again, but this time to leave that stuff untouched, so i went in there, he asked me what did i do, i told him nothing, and he was like "eh, good enough", we sat there for a few minutes talking about something, i think it was cars and sports (well, he was talking, i was nodding), then i went back and told my parents that i did it, after that i went to an even filled with 6 year olds, i got my first communion, a free suit, and the best of it all, the respect of my whole family, now nobody questions my believes and/or tries to force me into ceremonies of that nature, not even my grandmother, and she is an extreme believer, so, i'm pretty darn happy with how it went... though i still feel bad about the priest, i feel like he got caught in between the crossfire, he was just doing his job i guess.

PRESENTING PETITIONS Betty Nippi-Albright (NDP) 1:42:00 Presents a petition signed by residents of Saskatoon that calls for duty-to-consult legislation to be enacted. The petitioners are concerned that without this legislation in place, the government is responsible for recognizing when the duty-to-consult is triggered, which has resulted in a lack of engagement with Indigenous communities and lost court battles. The petitioners request that the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan call on the Government of Saskatchewan to immediately stop the sale of Crown lands and enact meaningful duty-to-consult legislation. 90% of crown land has already been sold.
Terry Dennis (SaskParty) 1:43:17 The federal government is infringing on their rights. Wants the Sask First policies.
*NOTE: This is the daily unfounded constitutional challenge that they bring.
Vicki Mowatt (NDP) 1:44:28 Ms. Mowat presents a petition signed by residents of Wilkie that calls for the Government of Saskatchewan to fix the rural health care staffing crisis. The petitioners are concerned about the recruitment and retention of health care professionals in Saskatchewan's rural health care facilities, which has led to disruptions in emergency room, acute, lab, and X-ray services. The petitioners request that the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan call on the Government of Saskatchewan to address the staffing crisis.
STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS Vicki Mowatt (NDP) 1:48:39 Bringing awareness to multiple myeloma.
Alana Ross (SaskParty) 1:46:59 Tribute to Himboldt Broncos and an intro to a local from her riding. He presented the team and and ems/first responders last year.
Nathaniel Teed (NDP) 1:48:26 Speaks about dedication and passion of the Ukrainian Museum of Canada and its staff, volunteers, and community members. He highlights the importance of the museum's artifacts and how they remain relevant today. Mr. Teed was invited to give remarks at the opening of a new exhibit at the museum, which remembers the discriminatory reality of Canada's detainment policies during World War I. He mentions that thousands of Ukrainians were among those held in internment camps across Canada and forced to work in a country they did not know. He also connects current events, such as Putin's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
Terry Jenson (SaskParty) 1:49:40 Talks about 5000 people in Warman joining for a cheerleading event.
Gary Grewal (SaskParty) 1:51:15 Talks about his visit to the Regina Trades and Skills last fall.
Fred Bradshaw (SaskParty) 1:52:47 Talks about some people joining the winter games this past winter.
Muhammad Fiaz (SaskParty) 1:54:01 Starts by saying “Members opposite won’t want to hear it, but we have good news from our economy”. He says that urban starts in Saskatchewan for Feb 2023 are up 76% from last year, and claims that the best in the country. He also says more people are choosing to move here because we are the most stable on the planet.
*NOTE: I didn’t bother fact checking this, but a year ago were pandemic measures, short supply of building materials etc. It’s a dishonest metric from the start. And to start out inflammatory… strange. His entire speech is ridiculous, especially when you consider our worst in country outmigration and migration retention rates.
QUESTION PERIOD Health Care Staffing and Provision of Emergency Care 1:55:30 Vicki Mowatt, Nathaniel Teed (NDP) vs Paul Merriman (SaskParty) Mowat accuses the government of failing on the economy and health care, citing the closure of the emergency room at Regina General Hospital in Regina. She questions whether the people of Regina should expect such failures when it comes to their emergency care.
Merriman’s excuse is there are always ebbs and flows within the health care system and that officials have told him the pressure at the Regina General has been alleviated. He also cites that Saskatoon emergency was shut down over the weekend as well.
He also mentions that the government is working on a human resource plan to ensure that people in Saskatchewan receive the health care they deserve. Mowat argues that health care workers are sounding the alarm and that the disaster at the Regina General should never have happened, and quotes the president of the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) as saying that there is not enough time, capability, or staff to provide safe patient care in most facilities in the province.
Mowat questions the Minister of Health's responsibility for the state of health care and demands that he take action to ensure that such incidents never happen again. The Minister responds by stating that he met with SUN and other stakeholders to discuss the government's four-point plan to address the issue. He also cites the government's efforts to hire more doctors and nurses and to expand the scope of health care providers in the system. Mowat insists that the government's HR plan is not enough and that it is not working. She criticises the government's 15-year record and accuses it of refusing to take responsibility for its failures.
She also questions why the Minister of Health is not listening to nurses and local voices in health care and demands that he work to find real solutions to the crisis in emergency rooms. She says that he shut down a request for a task force to address these issues. The Minister responds by stating that he meets with unions and other groups regularly to incorporate their ideas into the government's plan. He emphasises that the government is working to meet the needs of people in Saskatchewan and will never take their health care for granted.
Teed describes a retired nurse from his riding who had to lay on the floor having a medical emergency. She couldn’t get an ambulance and called family to say goodbye. Merriman responds by he has met with the ambulance providers and went for coffee with them. Teed fires back saying no one should wait an hour for an ambulance, and people are getting hurt.
\NOTE: The tomorrow measures Merriman cites have been deemed not enough by the provincial auditor. They use the same excuse week after week, but the results appears to get work, considering that ERs are closed in our largest cities. He mentions this 4 point plan, and cites the number of nurses and doctors that he’s bring in, but it’s all bandaids, and it’s fewer than we should have previously had. The plan is very late.*
Jennifer Bowes, Matt Love (NDP) vs Dustin Duncan (SaskParty) Access to childcare spaces Bowes expresses concern about the crisis in the healthcare system and the rushed announcement of a $10-a-day childcare policy, and didn’t take the time to get things right to get headlines. She argues that parents who rely on part-time care should not be collateral damage in the minister's desire to score a great headline. Bowes questions whether the Duncan will work with childcare workers to ensure that no one loses their space as a result of the announcement. Duncan responds by assuring that no spaces will be cut, and he emphasizes that he got this deal done 3 years early. Bowes continues to press for answers, stating that the government needs to listen to parents and childcare providers who stand to lose access to their spots. She argues that a one-size-fits-all approach does not work for working moms in Saskatoon and Whitewood. Duncan questions the opposition's inconsistent stance on the policy and its impact on the economy.
\NOTE Duncan’s comment about the NDP being inconsistent is nothing but absurd. He is still positioning this as his achievement, but reality is he accepted the $10 a day, he didn’t work for it at all. I also didn’t fact check school funding numbers.. It’s clearly underfunded regardless.*
Funding for education Matt Love (NDP) vs Dustin Duncan (SaskParty) Love chimes up that Prairie Valley School division has now started a charity to continue to keep their school running. Duncan insists that he has foundations in place to keep the schools going, and his side of the isle laughs out loud at Love, then he claims Saskatchewan is the highest spending on education in the country. Love returns back that he asked about this funding in 2020, and Duncan told him “We are not going to rely on bake sales to ensure that we have a continuation of a safe return to work” and asks how bottle drives compare as a funding method. Duncan again insists that they’re giving a lot of money to schools, and asks if Love doesn’t want people with a lot of money to help fund the schools, and cites the Brownlee family (may be spelled wrong, I don’t know who they are.)
Government Support for Harm Reduction 2:18:15 Vicki Mowatt (NDP) vs Everette Hindley (SaskParty) Latest overdose numbers, 103 deaths in two months this year, same as all of 2016. This conversation happens daily. Hindley says that they have a going forward plan of additional funding. Mowatt continues to press for immediate action, Hindley justifies the money that has been spent but doesn’t address the current record, but has a going forward plan.
ORDERS OF THE DAY Bill No. 109 — The Trespass to Property Amendment Act, 2022 2:22:00 Nicole Sarauer (NDP) Says that they have put very serious concerns on the record about the bill, how it would affect stakeholders. She brings up the premiers tweet about federal workers going on to private property and calls it a redundant bill since people already need to abide by these laws. Cites concerns from Saskel, SaskEnergy and highways workers who are concerns about the rhetoric and their safety.
Bill No. 116 — The Plant Health Act 2:25:06 Vicki Mowatt (NDP) Notes importance of pest control in agriculture. She is leaving more questions to their critic.
Bill No. 117 — The Saskatchewan Firearms Act 2:27:45 Betty Nippi-Albright (NDP) Cites her experience of her husband being shot by an illegal firearm, as well as being an indigenous person who relies on firearms for their way of life. She shares the concerns of FSIN regarding lack of consultation. She wants more consultation with impact communities.
Bill No. 118 — The Warrant Compliance Act 2:34:32 Vicki Mowatt (NDP) She agrees with powers to the police to help find violent reoffenders. Again raises concerns about who is a repeat violent offender, there are definitions missing, and she is concerned about unintended consequence for families, especially kids.
Bill No. 122 — The Saskatchewan Revenue Agency Act 2:37:56 Doyle Vermette (NDP) Asks why they are doing this, he’s been asking every reading but isn’t getting an answer. Says there was no consultation, and now business will need to file two taxes, one provincial one federal. No answers provided. He cites the cost of a new crown, and says that he has heard ministers in the Saskparty say that they can raise taxes, and they’ll still get voted in. And when the result is negative, they’ll say something about the liberal ndp federal government and put their hand out begging for federal dollars.
Bill No. 124 — The Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Amendment Act 2:45:38 Jennifer Bowes (NDP) Cites once again there are mixed responses from stakeholders, and wants the government to consult.
Bill No. 126 — The Summary Offences Procedure Amendment Act, 2022 2:52:58 Nathanial Teed (NDP) He’s happy about allowing first nations to enforce their own laws, bylaws, summar offense tickets, time limits. He’s in favour.

Hence we ensure to provide our customers with the best quality material and exceptional services following their budget. If talk about cement there are two types of cement used in house construction in India and that are: - Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC)
- Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC)
Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) OPC is generally known as grey cement and is widely used cement for the production of mortar, non-specialty grout, concrete, and plaster. It is the best cement for commercial, residential, industrial structures, and high-rise buildings, and due to its low compressive strength, it is also used in civil construction where high-grade cement is needed such as highways, bridges, runways, etc. OPC is suitable for all sorts of RCC structures, concrete blocks, and paver blocks. OPC is favorable for single-story residential construction and also caters to a variety of needs associated with plaster. For the best brand and excellent quality OPC cement buy from RODI DUST Marketing and Distributions Pvt. Ltd. Advantages of Ordinary Portland Cement - Cracking and shrinkage-resistant
- Its Initial setting is faster than PPC.
- The curing period of OPC is lesser than PPC and the curing charge reduces. Therefore suggested for the areas where curing costs more expensive.
Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) PPC has certainly become a significant option because it is made of Palaeozoic material which gives superior properties to cement. It is highly corrosion-resistant. Even though its strength is less at the initial setting time but it gains strength over time. To facilitate better performance, PPC uses in all-purpose construction while it is best for plaster, tiling, and brickwork. PPC is not only responsible for enhancing the excellence of the structure but also it saves costs. Advantages of PPC Cement: - Gains higher strength over time.
- extremely resistant to sulfate and chloride attacks.
- due to pore refinement, it enhances the density of concrete.
- Has low permeability and solidity.
- needs a less amount of water.
- Higher workability.
- superior resilience.
- Low heat of hydration.

2023.03.24 06:12 Anxious-Horror3102 Neighbor stole from me. Arizona.
I live in a home where the backyard meets another person’s backyard directly behind me. When I built the house, I had the parcel surveyed and built a block wall inside of my property line that runs the inside perimeter of my lot. The person behind me also has a block wall on or near their property line. There is a space of about 12 inches in between the two block walls.
Neighbor behind me has a dog that they do not care for and do not let inside. It barks for about ten hours per day for the last five years. I have contacted the city, the humane society, and a mediator with no changes. If the barking goes past 9pm I usually call or text the neighbor to ask them to let the dog inside. It is always met with hostility.
I bought an ultrasonic dog barking device and attached it to my block wall. It works! Last night, the neighbor removed the device from my wall and kept it. I have cameras in the back that recorded him using a ladder to climb over to my wall and take my ultrasonic device. I texted him to let him know I have him on video and he has an hour to return the device before I call the police for theft. He spoke unkindly to me and denied having it. Ten minutes later my camera recorded him replacing the ultrasonic device.
Since he returned it when I asked, can this still be considered theft?
May I still call the police for this kind of matter?
I feel unsafe that he thinks it is okay to take my things and climb around in my backyard. Can I pursue some kind of order of protection? Not sure if this is the right term for what I need.
Please no judgement for using a dog barking device. I am at my wit’s end. I feel it was the most humane of my remaining options.

2023.03.24 06:09 Theeaglestrikes We escaped from a haunted house, but the horror didn’t end there.
Part I -
Part II Whitewall House looked different this afternoon. Twelve hours had passed, and yet the property appeared ruinous — worse than two months prior when we first pulled onto the driveway.
My knees knocked together as I inched through the open front door. Silence greeted me, but that wasn’t a comfort. I thought of May’s comment when we’d first arrived.
It’s too still.
“May?” I called.
I crept up the creaking stairs, grateful for the sunlight that poured through the windows, though the house still terrified me. I finally saw what my wife and children had seen for weeks. The true malice hidden in those walls.
And then I heard crying from the room at the end of the upstairs landing —
our bedroom. I sprinted towards it, pushing the door open to find a sight that stilled my shaking body.
“May…” I whispered.
She was sitting on the edge of our bed, face drenched in tears, and she looked up at me.
“You came back,” She said, sniffling.
My weary wife rushed to her feet, and we embraced for a little while, bawling into each other’s shoulders. I felt a deep, unyielding guilt. I could’ve believe I’d left her there all night.
“I’m sorry,” I sobbed. “It tricked me. I thought it…”
“- Where are our children?” May anxiously interjected.
“They’re with Rachel. They’re safe. Come on, let’s get out of here,” I said, wrapping my arm around her.
My wife gently squeezed my hand and shook her head, looking up at me. She beamed, but it was a sad smile. Her sorrow filled me with a dreadful emptiness.
“I can’t,” May replied.
And before I could reply, the door to the guest room at the far end of the landing — the one which had revealed the long-necked lady the night before — swung open of its own accord. My wife stood still. She was shivering at the very sight of the guest room.
I sensed that she wanted me to go alone, so I motioned for her to stay in our bedroom as I walked across the landing. I trembled, fearing the thing with the slender, curved neck and lopsided head. I braced for whatever fate the entity would deal.
I didn’t find the sickly, shadowy demon in the guest room. I found something far more horrifying.
“I’m sorry,” May cried, standing behind me.
But she wasn’t standing behind me. She was lying on the carpet of the guest room, snapped into a twisted shape with a petrified look on her lifeless face. By the looks of it, she died hours before I arrived there. Alone.
“No…” I croaked, falling to my knees in tears.
“I… I didn’t know whether you’d believe me,” She sobbed. “Carl, I need you to-”
“- Did it happen whilst I was helping the children downstairs? I… I saw it in the doorway,” I murmured.
The spectral form of my wife placed her hands on my shoulders, consoling me as I mourned her. There’s something indescribably terrifying about having a conversation with someone whose corpse is lying before you.
“Carl,” May said softly. “I need you to listen to me. We have to protect our family. Where is the Lady?”
“At the hotel,” I replied. “But the kids are safe. They’re miles away.”
“She’s not at the hotel,” May whimpered.
“What?” I asked.
“She’s not at the hotel,” May repeated. “That
thing could only leave this place by latching onto someone.”
“You,” I said.
May shook her head tearily. “No, sweetheart.
You. Where you go, it goes.”
There was the sudden sound of a door slamming, and the light outside the windows dimmed — as if a cloud were hanging heavily over our house.
“She’s here,” May whispered, gripping my arm. “She took my necklace. The one you gave me. That’s how she assumed my form. You need to take it back so you can trap her here.”
A moan sounded from the lobby.
May gripped me tightly. “I can’t stay. She’s shutting me out.”
I turned to face my wife, but her spectral form had vanished. I was kneeling on the floor beside her cold, decaying corpse in the near-lightless Whitewall House. I rose to my feet and listened to the steps ascending the staircase.
Then I saw the thing that was pretending to be my wife.
It smiled at me and hissed. “What have you found, sweetheart?”
The necklace, sporting a pair of initials — M and C — swung tantalisingly on May’s soft skin. I had to remind myself that it wasn’t her. It was a trick — a demon’s deceit. And I also knew that it wouldn’t take long for the Lady, as May called her, to infer my intentions.
I lunged towards the abomination and grasped the necklace in my hand, curling my fingers around it. The smile on the Lady’s face faded, and she slowly shook her head at me.
“I wouldn’t do that,” She hissed.
But the thing didn’t raise a hand. It didn’t try to stop me. I wrenched the necklace from the frightful thing, and then I shoved it out of the way, rushing down the stairs to the lobby.
The front door slammed shut, enclosing me in the darkened space, and I spun around to find that my wife’s doppelgänger was gone. I was looking at the scarcely-visible form of the Lady. Long-necked, corpse-like, and inhuman. Its lopsided head bounced against its shoulder, and I shrieked.
I stared at the reaper’s unholy face as its janky body clomped downstairs. It reached the bottom of the stairs, and I pressed my back against the front door, fumbling with the lock that wouldn’t budge.
“Run!” A voice screamed.
May.
Her ghostly hand rose from the floorboards, clutching the Lady’s slender ankle and rooting it to the ground. The demon screeched, swiping a hand towards me as I slithered into the lounge. It continued to moan and shriek, realising I was about to slip away, as I picked up a dining chair and hurled it at the living room window.
The glass pane shattered, and I hauled my body through the window frame, landing on the driveway. I didn’t look back. I hopped into my car and drove away from Whitewall House for the last time.

2023.03.24 05:58 JitteryJuice I have a shotgun that's registered to my wife's exes name but it's been sitting here in our house for 3 years. He has not claimed it in those 3 years until now. Does that count as abandoned property? Do I have a right to sell it? He's a murderous psycho and I don't want to give him a gun

2023.03.24 05:48 TwiXXXie96 Am I getting scammed here?
I want to preface this by saying that I have no one I can really rely on or talk to about this situation.
My wife and I want to sell our house as the area that we live in isn’t that good, we have two small children. My wife has always been into “homesteading” and growing your own vegetables and I am the complete opposite.
While looking at some houses we found this property , a house on one acre of land. We cannot afford it by ourselves. My in laws are good people most of the time, they suggested to go in on this property together.
This is the “plan” and where it gets interesting, just trying to look out for myself and to avoid any headaches in the future:
We would be putting down 150k and my in laws would put around 50k, between my wife and I we would own 70% of the property and my in laws 30%. The plan is for us to pay most of the mortgage and live in that house and for my in laws to pay a part of the mortgage and get their own loan and build a house for themselves on this land. After the house is done they will continue to pay that smal portion of the mortgage while dealing with their own home building loan. The split is not physical, as in we won’t have limits on the land, we will just share it. I plan all of this to be in writing.
There’s still some convincing to do as I’m not really into this homestead / farmhouse lifestyle , just looking to see if I’m getting scammed here in the long run or not.
TLDR: buying a piece of land with my in laws, existing house would be mine, they build their own. I put most of the down payment, I pay most of the mortgage, I own 70% of the property
Thank you

TNT Champion Miro vs US Champion Austin Theory (Miro’s history as US Champion + Austin Theory may be the handpicked future but Miro is chosen by God)
Tag Champion matchup between The Acclaimed and Sami & KO (a pre match diss rap to Sami’s and KO’s history would be sick)
Triple Main Event
No DQ Jon Moxley vs Roman Reigns
The New Day vs The Elite (or my secret alternate match which is The New Day vs The House of Black but leaving the Elite out would be insane
WWE Universal World Heavyweight Champion Cody Rhodes vs AEW World Champion MJF

2023.03.24 05:37 AGoodFaceForRadio Deer Deterrence?
Recently moved into a new place, so I’m figuring out new kitchen gardens. We get deer on the property, which is new to me; the old place was overrun with rabbits, but no deer. Anyway, I don’t mind Bambi coming around; I just don’t want him eating all my veg.
We don’t have a fenced yard, nor do we really want one. I thought about fencing the garden off, but the House and Property Beautification Department (my wife) is unlikely to approve an eight foot fence in the middle of the yard.
The yard is really steep, so I’ll be building terraces. If anyone has ideas for how to make chicken-wire row covers work with a terraced garden, or any other ideas for keeping Bambi from eating all the veg, I’d love to hear it.
Thanks!
