I'm getting a complex, less than helpful error when trying to view an R Visualization after publishing to my workspace online. I have created two visuals using the "R Script Visual" with the same outline and dataset, one plot and one density map using very basic, PowerBI-approved packages (ggplot2, tidyverse, cowplot).
Both visuals show up and run perfectly in PowerBI desktop, but the density map feeds me a long and complex error message with the gist being:
"Error: Polygons with holes requires R 3.6 or above"
The R script runs perfectly in RStudio and the visualization works perfectly in the PowerBI Desktop app. I've gotten some long/confusing error codes in the previous steps of building it, most of them related to me not using PowerBI-approved packages, but I believe I've fixed all of those.

I'm not sure what's wrong at this point, or where to go from here.

2023.06.06 17:52 RetroVibe240 Specific help for Driver Timeout Issue?

Specific help for Driver Timeout Issue?
I have a Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT GPU with a Ryzen 7 5700G CPU.
For over a year, on and off, I've been getting these driver timeout errors, but lately they've been getting ridiculously frequent. I have nothing else open, and I just open some simple app with a picture (like a Reddit page of Discord) and it crashes and goes black screen for a couple of seconds, with this pop up error
I have a custom desktop with an ASRock B550 motherboard, mini ITX form factor.
All my drivers on the computer are up to date, including the Radeon one. I also installed the Adrenalin Software for what its worth, but I hear some people recommend removing it. Sometimes I do remove it and it seems to help for a bit, but then the issue returns or changes a bit or gets worse. Sometimes I roll back the driver and it seems to help a bit, but again eventually the problem catches up with me again. Then I reinstall the software, and again same story after a while.
It happens sometimes when starting games, like on Steam or Blizzard or EA or whatever, but I don't . It doesn't often happen in the middle of a game, but a few times has. Usually I can tell when it's going to be more stable ahead of time. A reboot often helps for a bit but now it hasn't been. Now it's happening left and right with almost every app, and once recently the whole screen got all screwy looking. Like certain Discord server pages that have images on them are causing it to insta-crash, for example, and it's crashing on Chrome randomly as well, even as I load Reddit up.
I've gone several weeks or a couple of months with no issues in the past few years, followed by times with intense issues all the time. Sometimes updating to the latest version makes it worse, and sometimes better.
I don't think its a problem with overheating, at least not most of the time, from what I can tell.
** I recently did a BIOS and chipset update for the first time in a year or so and it did seem to remove the problem for about two weeks, but then it came back with a vengeance. Now it's happening half the time I use the computer, and sometimes a reboot helps, sometimes it doesn't. Some of the games that worked fine before even while having the crashes, like Assassin's Creed, are now not progressing past the main menu screen and stuck at 1 FPS. Most other games are not even launching,
EDIT- i was temporarily able to fix this last part as it seemed Windows couldn't find or use the proper driver and I had to reinstall it. Was stable for the better part of a week but after a power outage ran into crashing issues once again.
Other things I've tried is making a registry edit to disable multi-plane overlay as per a guide, and setting the AMD program as high performance with Windows. Also set power plan to best performance, ran Windows updates, did sfc scans and DISM, created a TdrDelay regedit, and several other things, to no avail.
Does anyone know a good fix for this? Is it my card itself (which is about three years old)? Do I need to tweak the settings? I'm not a big hardware guy.

2023.06.06 17:50 fuyuhiko413 Looking for a good skyblock map with challenges

I’ve been trying to find a skyblock map to play with a friend but so far they haven’t been great. The closest to what we wanted was “Ultimate Skyblock” which was perfect in every way except the mobs were all way too powerful. I really enjoy maps with custom achievements or even just some sort of challenge to work towards to unlock islands. Neither of us are a fan of basic skyblock. Any ideas?

2023.06.06 17:33 Dense_Ad_5671 How to design/ What to think of ? 🌐📡🛰️

Design Elaboration:
When approaching the design of revolutionizing emergency communication systems for disaster response, it is important to consider various aspects and components that can contribute to an effective and innovative solution. Here are some areas to focus on during the design process:
  1. Resilience: Develop a communication system that can withstand and adapt to challenging environments commonly encountered during disaster situations. It should be resilient to power outages, network disruptions, and physical damage, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity and communication capabilities.
  2. Scalability: Design a solution that can scale seamlessly to accommodate a wide range of users, from individual responders to large-scale disaster management organizations. Consider the ability to handle high volumes of communication traffic, allocate resources efficiently, and integrate with existing infrastructure or technologies already in place.
  3. Accessibility: Prioritize accessibility features that cater to diverse user groups, including individuals with disabilities or language barriers. Ensure that the communication system supports multiple languages, provides visual and audio cues, and accommodates different devices or assistive technologies to facilitate effective communication for all users.
  4. Rapid Information Exchange: Enable quick and efficient exchange of critical information between emergency responders, command centers, and affected communities. Consider incorporating features such as real-time messaging, location tracking, multimedia sharing, and data visualization to enhance situational awareness and decision-making processes.
  5. Interoperability: Design the communication system to be interoperable with other existing emergency response technologies and platforms. This allows seamless integration and data exchange with other systems used by different response agencies, facilitating better coordination and collaboration during disaster scenarios.
  6. User Experience: Prioritize user-centered design principles to ensure that the communication system is intuitive, user-friendly, and easy to navigate, even in high-stress situations. Conduct user testing and gather feedback to refine and optimize the user experience.
  7. Security and Privacy: Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive information and ensure secure communication channels. Consider encryption techniques, user authentication mechanisms, and privacy controls to safeguard data and maintain confidentiality.
Remember, this design serves as a starting point to inspire your creative thinking and problem-solving skills. Feel free to explore innovative technologies, software applications, hardware devices, or even hybrid solutions that can contribute to revolutionizing emergency communication systems for more effective disaster response.

2023.06.06 17:24 RemainInBliss Here are the major Supreme Court decisions we're still waiting for this term.
Affirmative Action Students for Fair Admission v. Harvard and Students for Fair Admission v. University of North Carolina
At issue are affirmative action programs at the the University of North Carolina, which until the 1950s did not admit Black students, and Harvard University, which was the model for the Supreme Court's 1978 decision declaring that colleges and universities may consider race as one of many factors, from the applicant's geographical and family background, to their special talents in science, math, athletics, and even whether the applicant is the child of the school's alumni.
The two cases overlap. Because UNC is a state school, the question is whether its affirmative-action program violates the 14th Amendment's guarantee to equal protection of the law. And even though Harvard is a private institution, it still is covered by federal anti-discrimination laws because it accepts federal money for a wide variety of programs. The cases were argued last October.
Voting Rights Act Merrill v. Milligan
At issue in Alabama's congressional redistricting plan adopted by the Republican state legislature after the 2020 census. More than a quarter of the state's population is African American, but in only 1 of 7 districts do minority voters have a realistic chance of electing the candidate of their choice. Black voters are either concentrated in that district so they are a supermajority there or spread out across the remaining six districts so that their voting power is diluted. It's a practice known as packing and cracking.
In January 2022, a three-judge federal court panel ruled unanimously that Alabama could and should have created two compact congressional districts with a majority, or close to a majority, of Black voters: two districts instead of just one. Two of the judges on the panel were Trump appointees, the third a Clinton appointee.
The state appealed to the Supreme Court, which by a 5-4 vote blocked the lower court ruling, which ordered a new map for the 2022 election, then nine months away. That was too much for Chief Justice John Roberts, a longtime critic of the Voting Rights Act, but who this time dissented along with the court's three liberals. He said he could find "no apparent errors" in the way the lower court applied existing precedents. What he didn't say was whether the court should revisit some of those precedents. The case was argued in October.
Indian Child Welfare Act
Haaland v. Brackeen
The case pitted several prospective adoptive parents and the state of Texas against the Indian Child Welfare Act — a federal law aimed at preventing Native American children from being separated from their extended families and their tribes.
Texas and several families who are adopting American Indian children challenged the law in court. They contended it amounts to an unconstitutional racial preference, and that the federal law impermissibly intrudes on state autonomy. The case was argued in November.
LGBTQ rights 303 Creative v. Elenis
The case pits two constitutional principles against each other. On one side are laws that guarantee same-sex couples equal access to all businesses that offer their services to the public. On the other are business owners who see themselves as artists and don't want to use their talents to express a message that they don't believe in.
The plaintiff in the case is a Colorado web designer who argues that Colorado's public accommodations law prevents her from doing what she wants to do most — custom web designs for weddings. The reason: She believes that marriage should only be between a man and a woman. The case was argued Dec. 6.
Independent state legislature theory Moore v. Harper
At issue is the so-called independent state legislature theory, put forth in this case by the North Carolina Republican State Legislature. If adopted, it would give state legislatures the power to put in place all manner of election laws and rules without any review by the state courts. At its most extreme, the theory could eliminate not just state judicial power over elections, but governor's vetoes. And it might allow state legislatures to certify presidential electors who were not approved by the voters - an idea that Donald Trump tried unsuccessfully to put forth in 2020.
In the particular case before the justices, the North Carolina Supreme Court ruled that the Republican-dominated state Legislature, in drawing new congressional districts after the 2020 census, violated the state constitution with an extreme partisan gerrymander.
The case was argued Dec. 7.
Sunday work at USPS Groff v. DeJoy
Case tests how far employers must go to accommodate the religious views of employees.
Forty-six years ago, the court, by a lopsided margin, ruled that an employer need not accommodate a worker's desire to avoid work on the Sabbath if that would mean operating shorthanded or regularly paying premium wages to replacement workers. The court went on to say that employers should not have to bear more than what it called, quote, "a de minimis," or trifling, cost.
The de minimis language has sparked lots of criticism over the years, but Congress has repeatedly rejected proposals to provide greater accommodation for religious observers, including those who object to working on the Sabbath. Now, however, religious groups of every kind are pressing a new and more conservative group of justices to overturn or modify the court's earlier ruling. The case was heard in April.
Student loans Biden v. Nebraska
A handful of Republican-dominated states – Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Arkansas, Kansas and South Carolina – have asked the Supreme Court to permanently block the Biden administration's student loan forgiveness program. The states contend that the president exceeded his legal authority when he implemented a program to cancel up to $20,000 in debt for people holding federal student loans.
The merits of the case are fairly straightforward. Does the 2003 law, known as the HEROES Act, give the president and his secretary of education the power to authorize federal student loan forgiveness? The case was argued in February.
True threats Counterman v. Colorado
The Supreme Court this term revisits a question the court has never answered: When is a threat a "true threat?" What does the prosecution have to prove? Does it have to show that the defendant intended to frighten his target, or is it enough to show that his words would have that effect on a reasonable person?
The case involves Coles Whalen, a singer-songwriter from Colorado, and Billy Counterman, a man convicted and sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison for "stalking" Whalen and making "true threats" against her. The case was heard in April.

2023.06.06 17:18 Plant3468 I'd like to suggest a rework of forces at El Alemain

As the title suggests, El Alemain offers a good chance at introducing alot for HLL so I'd like to cover some of those things. Italian troops and vehicles. Italy was a major force in North Africa, they were supported by a small number of German forces granted. Italy could be introduced as the opponent using some of their own unique equipment: Italy - A second Axis power adds more flavour and additional maps to the game! - L6/40 - A Small Light tank (would work similar to the PZ II - M13/40 - A Medium tank that saw extensive use in NA - P26/40 - Though a short production run (21) and too late to see action in NA, its one of the only Heavy Tanks unique to Italy, and would be very nice to see ingame.
Britian - Mainly a rework of the current British tanks (They can be map specific to El Alemain so as not to look out of place) - Cruiser MkIII or A13 (the tank simply fits the enviroment more but it the Tertrach can stay too) - Crusader - Matilda II and Churchill MkIII - Similar to the (Jumbo/Panther situation, gives Brits more variety, also how do we not have a Churchill in the game already wtf)
So what do you think? Granted, there a ton more tanks that could come. And if we double down on the option for unique tanks per map, we could see PzIII's, KV-1's, M24's the list goes on!

2023.06.06 17:04 Due_Ad_972 My random review of tears of the kingdom. MILD SPOILERS.

I am still playing tears though I have beat it at 160 hours. Its a massive game that does a lot right. It does have issues however.
I love links design
Ascend, fuse and recall are really cool fun new editions.
I love the verticality of the game, being able to go from sky to depths in a single dive is amazing and the scale is incredible.
The glider is so simple and so fun, I miss it when playing any other open world games.
The shrines are overall a big improvement, Love the proven grounds as opposed to those silly shrines of strength from breath of the wild.
The overall density of things to do in the world is massively improved, I cant walk for 30 seconds without getting distracted.
The increased difficulty is much appreciated
Some of the ultrahand stuff is amazing, its very gimicky but its a very well done gimick. I like how its not forced upon you too much and the autobuild is a godsend.
Absolutely love the addition of all the caves and wells, between depths, sky islands, main overworld, caves and wells plus your ability to glide, fly and climb it is a truly fully explorable world, you can even swim through ceilings for Gods sake.
Love how there are little rewards for doing just about anything, climb that big tree, probably at least a korok waiting for you. I love little acknowledgements of small detours while exploring. If I decide to randomly climb a big mountain or huge tower I want something to be there, the idea of simply seeing something out of place and my investigation leading to a reward is fantastic. The game is excellent at doing this though unfortunately after 100 or so koroks the diminishing returns for rewards really sets in. Perhaps korok seeds should be used for more than inventory space only after a point to resolve this? New exclusive armor sets with interesting passives perhaps?
Tons more weapon variety, some really cool creations and being able to tailor your arsenal of weapons to your own playstyle (I focus on spears mostly) is great.
Improved rewards, Finding old maps that lead to cool treasures, new armor sets, sages wills etc. More interesting rewards in general though more could still be done here
The new enemy types added (though pretty few) are very cool and welcome additions
The overall consumables/sellables in the world is balanced very well, I find tons of little things that I actually use. Fish, bananas, apples, opals, rubys, insects, oils, monster parts, rupees, arrows, bombs keese eyes, frost fruit etc. I was always keeping myself topped up on elixers and a variety of different meals for different situations. Lighting myself up in the depths, keeping myself warm in the cold, cool in the heat, gloom resistant, attack increase food for lynels or tough silver foes etc. Tons of stuff in the game actually has use and is not just clutter. Items in shops are expensive like clothing which is great as it ment selling opals and stuff was worthwhile. They filled the world pretty well with useful consumables.
I think tears needs more enemy variety especially given the addition of sky islands and depths, so much more to explore with only about 10 new enemy types. I was so disappointed when I found just reskinned versions of all the same enemies ( and even bosses!) in the depths. (The new enemies are cool and appreciated though).
The sky islands and depths themselves could use more variety in their design especially given how much time you will spend in both (depths mainly)
The main dungeons are good and improved from BOTW but again too short and simple though the lead ups are cool. Great to have themed dungeons back at least and unique varied bosses.
The weapon durability never bothered me too much especially when you get enough slots HOWEVER as a result of the weapon durability you end up with a ton of chests that have throwaway weapons in them. That does not feel good to find. The amount of times I opened a chest only to have to discard a weapon in order to fit the chest one in was annoying. They improved rewards in tears but didn't go far enough imo. Even adding more chests with silver rupees would help a ton as economy is done well in the game, I frequently found myself wanting more money and bombs and sometimes arrows but was always full on weapons even at 15 slots. Too many chests contained weapons imo. Funny thing is in previous Zeldas I feel too many chests contained rupees lol. Here I wanted more chests with rupees.
I think weapons in general should last longer, at least another 10 to 15 hits. This way the durability remains but is not so.......extreme. (I am aware this further exacerbates my problem listed above)
The music though nice is far too ambience focused and not enough upbeat classic Zelda. Compare the overworld themes on horseback in previous zeldas to the one in tears. Good lord the one in tears is so boring in comparison.
The sages are a MASSIVE step back. Having them follow you around and you needing to run up to them to activate their abilities is a pain in the backside, so much so in fact that I dismiss them all and don't use them at all except occasionally in the depths to break rocks and save my bombs. The rito one is indeed handy but I am fed up of him blowing away all my monster part drops when I want to pick them up so he is dismissed now too. I can only imagine the sages mechanic was a last minute inclusion from Nintendo after the positive feedback of Elden Ring spirit summons and they didn't think it through correctly.
Bonus con/pet peeve I hate how some of the monster parts are strong but looks so bad, I have a ton of silver bokoblin horns and so feel I should be using them but that damn stupid santa clause style bob at the end of the weapon looks so dumb. I cant attach it to anything without it looking dumb. Some of the really powerful stuff like lynel horns look great on a ton of things though.
That's my bullet point review of tears.
Overall score 8/10. Very cool game.

2023.06.06 17:00 Neerokee Just learned about fuel efficiency

As the title says, I've learned about that as of yesterday, and it was mind blowing hahahaha I've always put fuel mapping at 6 while racing with cars clearly more powerful than what was required in some ways, in order to reduce the stops to one or a maximum of two. Yesterday, tho, I found out. The video I was watching basically said that by increasing work load at low RPMS would result in a better fuel efficiency, so I literally applied that to my car in the Sardegna WT800 race. Since I was already using a Gr.1 car, it was an easy win with one stop at lap 10 of 15, but doing that enabled me to win the race without ever stopping and with just a minor loss on top speed. Tried that with 3 different cars and it worked like a charm! It was amazing hahahahah I just wanted to share my experience here :D how many of you knew about this? Am I the only one that was unaware? Please, don't tell me I was 🤣

2023.06.06 16:55 SourcerBot Ukraine dam supplying water to Crimea, nuclear plant is breached, unleashing floods

Here is the most important information, and related articles, from this article.

Save 5 minutes of reading with this summary:
The Nova Kakhovka dam, which holds water equal to that in the Great Salt Lake in the U.S. state of Utah, supplies water to Ukraine's Crimean peninsula, annexed by Russia in 2014, and to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, also under Russian control. However, Ukraine's state atomic power agency Energoatom said the water level of the Kakhovka Reservoir was rapidly lowering, posing an "additional threat" to the facility, Europe's largest nuclear power plant. Some 22,000 people living across 14 settlements in Ukraine's southern Kherson region are at risk of flooding, Russia's RIA news agency quoted the Moscow-installed head of the region as saying. The Southern Command of Ukraine's military accused Russian forces of blowing up the Nova Kakhovka dam, which is 30 metres (yards) tall and 3.2 km (2 miles) long. Ukraine's military intelligence agency later said on Telegram that Russian forces had blown up the dam "in a panic", in what it said was "an obvious act of terrorism and a war crime, which will be evidence in an international tribunal". Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy will hold an emergency meeting over the dam blast, Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council, said on Twitter on Tuesday.

2023.06.06 16:40 leunger15 A guide to using Steam Deck for Ability Arena

There have been some recent rumblings about playing AA on the Steam Deck and I just posted a bunch of info on the Discord, but figured this might be a better place to post more info that won't get lost in the abyss.
For those who don't recognize me from certain twitch communities, I am the Turtle of Disrespect and we have probably played a pub or two together. I have logged nearly 1600 games of AA since its release. I had never played an autobattler before, but got addicted to the learning curve. This game is perfect for me as I love dota (nearly 10k hours), but as I have gotten older I have definitely gotten worse at dota and have less patience for all the 'stupidity' it involves. Enter Ability Arena. Being able to experience the dota universe, rely on brain power rather than mechanical abilities, and not have to deal with toxic teammates was the perfect switch for me. I love this game and I want it to survive. I truly believe that with the popularity of Steam Deck and other handheld consoles on the rise, AA is in a unique position where others that enjoy dota as much as I do may find great pleasure trying or even switching to AA to get that 'dota fix' in a mobile environment.
At the time of this post, the AA devs have taken steps to improve the experience for SD users. I am hoping that the summary I am about to give you will become obsolete quickly if we are able to get further SD support in a future patch.
Prior to the June 3rd patch adding 'steam deck support', AA was unplayable from a competitive sense. The game runs great, controls are great when you customize them (more on that later), but there was a major problem. The SD virtual keyboard would constantly pop up whenever you tried to view the spell deck due to AA's auto focus text input (which is great for PC users that like to quickly filter the spell deck via typing). On the SD however, you simply could not play with any knowledge of what spells were in the game. So that's how I played for about a week since I got my SD, just casually enjoying the experience and optimizing the control mapping for my own preferences along the way.
Enter June 3rd. I got excited when I saw this patch, as I had been discussing these issues over the week that I had my SD with some of the AA devs. I didn't expect to have the issues resolved so quickly. And unfortunately, they weren't resolved...entirely...
As of now, you can go into the settings tab on AA and check a box which will enable 'playing on Steam Deck'. This feature has not totally solved the virtual keyboard issue, but it has made it playable with some minor tweaking and some steady hands. You can now look at the entire spell deck as long as your cursor does not enter the area where the spell icons are. You can use the spell filters or you can use the scroll bar on the far right of the spell deck. In order to do this a little easier, I recommend a couple custom control settings:
  1. Set your 'B' button to be the Escape Key. If you accidently let your cursor enter the spell icon area, the virtual keyboard pops up on you. The 'B' key on your SD will quickly close it. By having ESC on this button as well it will allow you to spam it and close the keyboard and spell deck at the same time, avoiding getting stuck in a loop where the keyboard constantly opens.
  2. Set something on your SD to use the mouse wheel scroll up/down functions. I use the left stick up/down for this. This will allow you to place your cursor in the spell filter area or the far right scroll bar then use the up/down scrolling function to easily move through the spell deck.
If you have Plus and want to favourite spells, I have had SOME success doing this by first using the spell filter to find the spell I want and then sometimes I can approach the spell icon from the perimeter and quickly click it to favourite. This is really hit or miss and I'm not sure yet on the best way to handle this, but it seems like when there are less icons on the screen you are able to sneak your mouse in there to get what you want. This is where the 'B' button comes in handy as you will probably experience the pop ups a bunch when trying to do this.
As for the other controls, it is really up to personal preference. I will share what I use, but you should definitely play around and see what feels right to you. I have changed mine a lot and will probably continue to do so as this journey continues.
I should also mention that I have had some success with avoiding the keyboard issue entirely when launch remote play from the SD. However, if the game ever crashes a lot of weird things happen with remote play and you basically have to go finish the game on your PC. For me I think this was a resolution switching issue that could probably be worked around with more testing, but I didn't really get a SD to use remote play so I am not too interested in figuring it out.
If you have made it this far I will leave you with my wish list. I hope that the AA 'playing on steam deck' function will just completely disable text boxes in game because let's face it, I don't think anyone on SD needs or wants to search for spells by typing. I would also love it if Valve implemented the ability to just disable the damn virtual keyboard. And lastly, I hope more of you are able to find the joy in playing this game on a Steam Deck or other handheld device for whatever your personal needs may be.

2023.06.06 16:28 Teslobo Extraction - New Game Mode Concept

I am of the belief that there is currently a problem in games like Apex Legends, Overwatch and League of Legends. Games that focus on refining one official way of playing, with small team sizes and emphasis on competitive play. I believe that the insistence of this genre of repeating the same high-stress activity endlessly with little to no variation is a recipe for burnout and subsequent player lapsing.
This lapsing accumulates over time and seems to increase pressure to add a stream of content that keeps things relatively fresh. I think this is a tremendous waste of resources for no reason. Look at Team Fortress 2, a very similar game that has had no update since 2017 yet still maintains a dedicated playerbase. I think the secret to TF2's ongoing success is its casual team sizes of 12v12, which dilutes responsibility to take the pressure off individuals and mitigate burnout. Look also to planetside 2 which can have combat encounters of 80v80 and likewise does not depend upon constant updates to maintain player engagement.
Lastly, is it any coincidence that Apex's most popular mixtape mode is the one that uses the highest team size of 9v9? Apex players need a reliable way to decompress from banging their head against the battle royale wall for hours, and this is a pitch for a mode that will fulfill that niche, and mitigate the problem that plagues every game of this kind.
I don't think Apex needs something like this to succeed commercially, simply that they would succeed more with it. I also think Apex is uniquely positioned to bend their existing systems to accommodate something radically different.

High Concept

A Syndicate supply fleet was eviscerated in orbit over World's Edge, the first shot fired in an internal power struggle against De Silva. The wreckage, carrying enough guns and munitions to fund an entire war now hurtles to the planet surface, and both factions will need every gun they can get.
Under the guise of a new event in the games, the Legends are recruited by both sides of the brewing civil war to retrieve the supplies that have crash landed on the planet surface.
This is Extraction, a new mode that pits 2 teams against each other… of 30 players each.
The goal of extraction is simple. Both teams will start on opposite ends of World's Edge and debris from the orbiting fleet wreckage will periodically crash land on the map, updating that location's loot with higher tier items as well as supply cases. These cases are the main objective, and teams must collect these and drop them off at designated depositories in order to score for their team.
The winning team is the first to deposit the required number of supply cases.

Technical Information

Everything from here on out are the nitty gritty mechanics of the game mode. The goal of these technicals is to create a mode that's as relaxed and engaging as possible while also minimizing how many resources Respawn would need to commit to making it reality.

Team Sizes

A big issue new modes present is splitting the playerbase. If 60 people queue for Extraction, that's 60 people not queuing for Battle Royale, extending wait times to get into a game. However, this should not be a problem. Due to the hypercasual focus of Extraction, a game of Extraction may start with only 12 players. After that, players may come and go as they please with no penalty due to the backfill system that Respawn recently got working in team deathmatch. This will create a minimal impact on queue times.
Players will pick their Legends independently and can swap Legends at their base. There are no Legend caps, making a team of 30 Wattsons a real and terrifying prospect.

Squad Comms

Having 60 people on Comms would be a nightmare, so how do we handle that? My suggested solution isn't to split people into squads the way control does, but rather restrict Comms to a certain radius. Players can receive chat messages and pings from any allied player within 300m. If more than 5 players are in that radius, it will instead prioritize the closest 5. There's potential for these numbers to be tweaked by players in the options.
This adaptive Comms system will prioritize people on your friends list or that were in the party you queued into Extraction with.
This logic extends to pings from abilities such as scans, bamboozles or survey beacon activations.

Unlike mixtape modes, players will be knocked down in Extraction and need to be finished off. However, the bleed out timer is shorter than it is in Battle Royale, and there are no knockdown shields in this mode. The intent behind this is to create a mode that feels more like being part of a cohesive army than the mindless horde you join in shadowfall, since your life has more value than simply running at the enemy and hoping you win.
Dead players will leave behind a deathbox but they will contain no banner. This is just to limit the entities within an area as well as enabling the use of Ash's passive in this mode. Death boxes will despawn after 3-5 minutes to prevent clutter.
However, despite mostly working the same as Battle Royale, death in Extraction is not the end, as you are able to respawn at your home base upon death.

Supply Cases

When the game begins, 3 points of interest will be pelted with debris - one in a location equidistant to either team's base and one slightly closer to each base. This event is similar to Gibraltar's air strike and will endanger players caught in it, but when the bombardment subsides, the point of interest will have refreshed loot, which includes several supply cases. Similar to ring closings, the start of a new round will mark 3 new points of interest to bombard.
Far more supply cases will spawn in central areas than points of interest closer to a base, making the higher risk the higher reward.
Supply cases, like grenades, take up an entire inventory slot on their own, limiting your carrying capacity. The primary use of supply cases is to collect them and take them to your depository, scoring a point for your team. However, by holding interact for a full 5 seconds, a supply case can instead be cracked open, which produces a set of highly adaptive loot for the person that opened it, but consumes the case in the process so it cannot be scored.
To prevent griefing, only one supply case can be opened, and this permission refreshes either when you die or when you deposit a supply case.
Supply cases have a green rarity, and will make death boxes glow green. A deathbox with a supply case in it will not start its countdown to despawn so long as it contains a supply case.
Despite having a green rarity, each supply case also has a hidden rarity of blue, purple, gold or red. This hidden rarity dictates the rarity of the adaptive loot from cracking it open, similar to how the light on a cargo bot will. Loba is able to view this true rarity and her passive will trigger for high rarities.

Bases & Forward Bases

Each team starts at a base on opposite sides of The Map that serve as their starting location and respawn point. These bases are generic structures that feature a jump tower for a fast rollout, and also contain depositories for supply cases as well as shops. Similar to how the dropship can approach from a number of manually defined angles, these bases can potentially take advantage of the empty space around World's Edge to have numerous different placements for matches, and the jump tower allows designers to ignore factors like unfavorable terrain close to the base.
To prevent spawn camping, the base itself will inflict an endgame-level ring effect on enemies within it, and enemies within 200m of the base will be continuously scanned to all allies nearby.
There are also several forward bases dotted around The map - lone and unassuming buildings or small compounds that have been outfitted with a capture point like the ones in control. Capturing it will activate a new respawn point for the entire team and comes with depositories for supply cases.
Respawn Beacons are obtainable in very specific scenarios. Placing one will provide the team with a limited time respawn point, just like in control, but will expire early if used 10 times.

I opted for World's Edge as the prototype hotbed for this mode. The other maps have potential, such as the tridents offering mass moblilty in storm point, but I think the flat terrain and wide open spaces serves a 2-side warzone much better than the design of other maps. Fragment was made for this chaos.
There's also room to bring back the train to play the role of fickle troop transport.

Players will begin with a P2020 and stack of light ammo. No body shield, no helmet.
Standard ground loot rarity has generally been reduced across the board. What would be a blue body shield is now white, and what would be a purple is now blue. This will result in a general decrease in time to kill which makes sense with there being more people to kill, less punishment for death, and increased odds there will be someone to revive you.
Speaking of which, there are no Evo shields in this mode, only body shields. The aim of this mode is neither longevity nor killing, so it doesn't make sense to encourage either.
Knockdown shields are removed from the loot pool altogether to stop the tempo of combat slowing to a crawl. Survival items have also been removed for various reasons I'll get to.
When a new round begins and space debris crashes on a PoI, the loot in that PoI will be re-rolled on a much more generous table, with rare weapons, armor and attachments being more plentiful.
Supply cases spawn uncommonly even outside these hotspots, providing inexperienced players a more indirect way to contribute to the score similar to how they could kill bot enemies in Titanfall.

Obviously 60 players on a respawn timer will eat through ground loot like locusts until nothing is left. Extraction will emphasize crafting as a way to mitigate this problem.
Killing enemies and delivering supply cases will award you with crafting materials. Additionally, there is a "payday" feature where everyone will gain crafting materials every few minutes. Reaching milestones in supply case collection will increase a team's payday bonus, making crafting more viable as endgame draws closer.
While replicators will still drop around the map to help with quick resupplies, the shops you can find on Big Maud are now available in bases as well as scattered in nooks across the map. These sell varying grades of body shield and kitted weapons to very rapidly outfit a newly respawned player with money to spend.
Additionally, the map contains a handful of control points which are not supply case hotspots or forward bases, but capturing them will increase the team payday for as long as it is held. These can overlap with debris crash sites for additional chaos.

Legend Role Abilities

In Extraction mode, the Legends all have a unique part to play in securing and delivering cases, which is reflected in their passive abilities during the mode. Every role also has an exclusive item only they can craft at replicators

Legend Changes

Some Legends will need minor tweaks to accommodate to this new mode. These changes will only occur within Extraction mode.

Final Words

I think the most important thing I want to note is that something like Extraction cannot just be another mixtape mode - to have the intended effect of mitigating player burnout, it needs to have complete parity with Battle Royale. If it's not treated as "the real game" then the pressure continues to mount to go and queue for the real game.
Extraction is a mode I designed to just be wacky and crazy and relaxed while at the same time not detracting from that potential for high level play for individuals that want to always take the fight to the most hotly contested site. I think there's untapped depth and complexity to the gameplay when killing other people is only a means to an end and not the end itself, and I wanted to explore that with the supply cases.
If you read all of this, I appreciate it and I'm very open to feedback, criticism or clarifying questions. As thorough as I've been explaining the technicals, I doubt I've hit every single possible query.
