Unfortunately, God did not bless me with strength or athletic prowess. I knew I’d never be a good soldier. Instead I attended the Royal University, and graduated at the top of my class. I would become an engineer, and develop siege weapons for the King’s Army, so I could kill indirectly.
When I was summoned before the King’s Council, I knew they were going to make me a Royal Engineer for the Army. My dream was about to come true.
Instead, the Council assigned me, “a much more important role.”
Royal Engineer in Charge of Sewage.
Villages were having trouble digging latrines, and a few of their fancier Inns needed Outhouses constructed. It was my job, as ordered by the King, to help the common folk shit and piss without fear of disease.
What did I do to offend God so?
I would have refused, but defying the King was unwise (he’d behead you).
Begrudgingly, I accepted the position, and journeyed to the first village in need of my help.
Every member of this village was either inbred, drunk, or a fool. When I met the owner of the Inn, I found him to be all three.
He met me outside the Inn with a shit-eating grin, and politely greeted me as, “His Majesty’s Shit Shoveler.”
He walked me through the Inn, introducing me to every customer.
“The Royal Shit Shoveler has come to visit!” He said. “This man works for the King! Best Shit Shoveler in all the land!”
Every. Single. Person. Laughed.
One man laughed so hard he couldn’t breath and fell over and hit his head, which made everyone else laugh even harder. Everybody thought the Innkeeper was fucking hilarious.
I’d show them.
I gathered my materials and built an Outhouse for the Innkeeper, but I made sure to carve numerous holes in the ceiling.
When the Innkeeper inquired about the holes, I said they were for ventilation, so it wouldn’t stink in there.

Hey folks. I am here looking for some advice. I am a high school social studies teacher in the DC area who is super excited to be teaching a philosophy elective next year. I also run my schools TTRPG club, and as I was searching for curriculum resources for next year, I came across a full course plan that uses a D&D style narrative structure to teach philosophy. Students will be placed into adventuring parties and, over the course of the semester, go on adventures as they search for the meaning of life
Obviously, I am all in. This is my wheelhouse to meld these two content areas, so I am going above and beyond. This is an excuse to put together some garb for the first day of school that really sets the tone for the students. But I do not have the best idea of how to go about this.
There are tons of crafters on Etsy that seem to be selling nice stuff at all kinds of price points. It's a bit overwhelming, to be honest. So I am going to the reddit hive mind to help guide my search. I have a rough sketch of a charecter that I am using to inspire the look.
Mr. E is a former bard who spent many years as an adventurer but has now retired from active campaigns. Instead, he works as a "quest consultant" who helps other kingdoms and adventurers get the most possible out of their quests.
He has been quite successful, so his base clothes are of fine quality but not ostentatious. He still goes out into the field to monitor and support his clients so over top of the base garb is a few pieces of leather armor, like 1 full arm with a pauldron or a half chest piece, a bracers for the other arm. A belt with lots of pockets for the bits and bobs of bardic magic. I would love to have a tome that hangs at my side. There is no need for a weapon since I am wearing it in school.
General color scheme blue and green with gold and brown accents.
The budget for the project is $500 to $800 (I am spending my club pay on this). I am located in the DC region and will be attending awesomecon next month, so I will be shopping there. In general, I want this to be something that I could wear to ren and cons and add to from year to year.
Are there good local places to source from? If not where should I be looking online? I do have some costume crafting experience and a sewing machine. I can make stuff from a pattern but it doesn't look that great.
If this is the wrong place to consult, are there other subreddits you would recommend?

In my country, some magicians cast spells through amulets, then hide them somewhere difficult to find. This could include under ponds/lakes, on top of trees etc.
So there have been cases of many happy lives getting destroyed, some slowly over the years while the victim has no clue that he's been affected. Many of such cases include the aforesaid amulet casting.
Some of these spells are very powerful in effecting the victim & many people recommend finding the amulet through a Jinn in order to destroy it. This is haram as far as I know because even the Prophet (PBUH) once deliberately let go off a Jinn once because of Sulayman (AS)'s du'a.
Now if the amulet was to be found & destroyed, it's obvious that the magic would be neutralized but if one is unable to find such amulets despite being aware that he's a victim, and he isn't supposed to summon a Jinn to find the amulet, what can he do to eliminate the effect of magic?
So the question is: Is it enough for the victim to undergo Ruqyah recommended in Shariah while the amulet isn't found/destroyed and is still there somewhere? Will the effects start to appear again if one stops Ruqyah while the amulet is still intact?

We are in a rough spot financially and my TBM spouse suggested we ask the bishop for help. I know a lot probably depends on bishops roulette but I feel like ours is a good guy who would try to help us out. He knows I’m out of the church but I’m just worried the help might come with strings attached. While I don’t want to seem ungrateful for the help I also don’t want to have to clean the building, have anyone dig through our finances, or have to take a class on the ‘blessings of tithing’. The way I see it this is just one way of getting some tithing money back and I don’t want be made to feel like the church has any more power over me. earlier i got into a fight with my parents, especially with my dad. i was in my parents’ room kasi because i wanted to hang out and bond with them (and i also had nothing else to do). i thought it was the least thing i could do before they sleep and i can lock the doors afterwards. while i was in their room, they were watching tv kasi. my dad went on youtube and he was talking about how reliable this one youtube channel is because sa youtuber na yun, dun nanggagaling yung mga celebrity chismis, etc, kahit most (if not all) of it is based sa opinion lang (kasi nga chismis).
etong dad ko, he was looking for a video to watch dun sa dami ng mga celebrity chismis youtube channel sa homepage niya kasi. bakit daw namatay si coco martin ganon blah blah or bakit daw makukulong si ganito ganun kahit walang actual news outlets na nagre-release ng ganung balita. sa akin lang naman, it’s okay to watch those… pero watch with caution. i then told my dad that as a lighthearted advice and he took it differently. he started saying na “reliable” naman daw si [youtuber na may chismis content] kasi sa kanya mismo raw nanggagaling yung chismis, and may contact daw siya sa mga celebrities na yun. sabi ko na that’s his opinion and i respect it, and dinidiin talaga ng dad ko na hindi siya opinion, but facts kahit chismis siya?

I prioritize speed and safety, so I am thinking about the Vsett 8+ right now. It was either that or a Varla Pegasus that went off sale. I see a lot of different beliefs here like some people say pneumatic tires are bad because you always have to replace them which is hard. Then people say solid tires are bad because you don't have good traction and they will slip. Should I be worried with the Vsett 8+? It seems like there are problems with all the scooters I look at. Good day to everyone. I’ll try not to be too long winded with this.
Been gardening for several years, mostly grow food producers. Have grown zinnias for two seasons already and starting a third.
Anywho, I recently started working as “shop/event muscle” and doing minor creative stuff for a local florist and event decorator. And in talking bout gardening stuff one day, the conversation may have moved towards a few varieties of zin I’m doing this year and their interest in buying some of mine.
Fast forward a lil and I’m finally clearing out my germination/grow closet that has fifteen hours a day on average of artificial light with around 40 minutes of direct sunlight as well. And with the last of my ‘23 peppers and tomatoes transitioning outside I have the room and already budget for the electricity. So I am going to see if I can’t just consistently grow a few tiny beds worth of zinnia in there for commercial harvest.
Has anyone here had any success with zinnia growing indoors? If so, any advice?
Are you a veteran zinnia gardener? If so, what are some bits of herb lore that are good for me to know?
Any tips or suggestions will be appreciated.

After 10 episodes of deep investigating, we have finally found Hannah...but now what? I wish there was an epilogue. That ending left me with a really hollow feeling.
My favorite thing about the game was definitely the romance with Jake. His protectiveness and his tendency to always be self sacrificial to the player as a plan B are super sweet. It really feels like you make a good investigative duo. Plus, i have never loved the '':)'' emote so much X-X
What are your expectations for Moonvale?
I am personally excited to get into a new mystery, but i would be a bit disappointed if Jake isn't involved beyond the sidestory. He is a good sidekick, who can offer investigative resources behind the scenes that no one else can, and i think it would be nice for the romance storylines to continue on, especially for the people who picked Jessy too, even if there are new characters and such. I think i'll probably skip the multimedia pack if he's not back.
