2023.03.24 07:18 Pooja-12 7 Amazing Benefits Of Data Science For Digital Marketing

Data Science leads to a process that works with enormous amounts of data to extract data and essential information using different research approaches and algorithms. With the emergence of this interdisciplinary field in contemporary life, data can be sophisticatedly structured and applied to various application fields.

Power of Data Science

The ability of data science has grown dramatically over the last few years, making it possible to keep customer cooperation and more effectively interact with the target audience. For digital marketers, data science plays a role that is nothing short of a blessing. (Know what tools are used in digital marketing by joining the best data science courses in India).
A significant amount of knowledge is required to recognize your audience's behavior and interests, which can assist you in changing your marketing strategies. As a result, in the current and anticipated scenario, providing digital marketing without data science would hardly be a serious error.
But how can this data science knowledge assist digital marketers in carrying out their daily tasks? How does data science fit into the world of digital marketing?
What is the goal of data science, what does a data scientist do, and how can digital marketers use data science to design their digital marketing strategy to increase sales and profits? In order to better understand how several positions will complement one another to advance a business's foundation, let's first look at some of their particulars.

Use of Data Science in Online Marketing

Data science is essential to digital marketing processes. It offers information about the preferences and requirements of customers. The client base is recognized by the gathered data, which motivates one to customize ads based on consumer spending, behaviors, and preferences. Some of the most popular advantages of incorporating data science into digital marketing have been outlined below. With this helpful information, you can improve the campaigns' effectiveness and attract more customers.
The first benefit of using data science in marketing is the ability to organize commercial campaigns more effectively and efficiently. The data obtained from the website, ongoing business activities, or social media platforms will show when, why, and how customers interact with the brand.
It appears that you will compile client information in bulk and track the results of each campaign. Yet, you can base your existing or planned digital marketing activities on real-time data, signaling you won't investigate the behavior of faraway ex-lovers but instead concentrate on business operations and selling patterns.
This is a brand-new area of digital marketing to work in, and the data science that is currently in use can tell you everything about market trends, timing effectiveness, as well as consumer behavior, and buying habits.
It is imperative to stay ahead of your competitors and see the newest prospects and spending patterns. Also, you'll be prepared to reach out to devoted customers and deliver the best material to them at the ideal moment.
In the end, a high-quality customer experience and a delighted client base start off with returning local customers. Do a local marketing campaign to learn where, why, and how people buy so you can meet their needs.
Give customers a truly personalized experience by implying that they must feel valued to contemplate purchasing your goods. Your customers won't just be happy when they leave the store; you'll also witness increased customer loyalty.

Advantages of Data Science in Digital Marketing

Despite the two characters' seemingly unorthodox personalities, their skill sets can work incredibly effectively together to sell a brand's support line. The use of data is changing how sales and marketing are done.
The amount of data people create today is enormous, as a greater proportion of the population works online. You can customize your operations to match each consumer's spending and action patterns by using the accumulated data.
Here are a few ways expert digital marketers can implement data science into their operations to gain advantages.
  1. Budgeting for optimization in marketing
Budget restrictions apply to digital marketers. Each marketer strives to maximize their ROI from the budget they have been given. Usually, it is difficult to accomplish this. Effective budget utilization is not always achieved, and figures don't always match the plan.
A data scientist can develop a spending plan that more effectively uses the budget by looking at a digital marketer's asset data and spending patterns. Many experienced digital marketers would profit from using this strategy to distribute their budget among various initiatives, channels, tools, and processes to maximize key performance indicators. For a detailed explanation of these demanding tools, refer to the domain-specialized data science course in Bangalore, developed by industrial experts.
  1. Identifying the Right Channels
Data science could be utilized to identify the channels giving digital marketers enough revenue. By utilizing a time series approach, a data scientist can analyze, study, and identify the different lifts observed across multiple channels.
Also, this may be quite advantageous as it shows the digital marketer exactly whichever channel or sign generates accurate and suitable income.
  1. Boost traffic using a tool for Search Engine Optimization
One approach to increasing website traffic is through search engine optimization (SEO), and data science is quickly transforming how people increase website traffic. Data scientists use search engines' capabilities to gather, analyze, and provide feedback on data. Data science is being used in this SEO to eliminate speculation.
Data experts theorize what's giving them the desired outcomes and how they may conceal their success, in addition to speculating how things work and how a specific activity influences the company's goals.
  1. Making Customers and Marketing Policy Compatible
Digital marketers must meet their customers appropriately to get the most out of their online marketing operations. In order to do this, they can develop a model for estimating the lifetime value of a consumer that can categorize consumers according to their presence.
These models can be used for a certain type of its use crisis by digital marketers. For instance, they may provide discount coupons and even referral cards to their most valuable customers while enacting retention strategies for those likely to depart their clientele.
  1. Outstanding Lead Scoring
Not every lead a marketer obtains converts into a paying client. The sales traffic and ultimately the department's performance will improve if a digital marketer can segment their customers according to their needs.
Marketers may create a scary lead score system using data science. This system uses an algorithm capable of estimating the probability of transformation and appropriately segmenting the lead account.
  1. Sentiment Analysis
To execute sentiment analysis, digital marketers can use data science's assistance. They will have more trustworthy information on their clients' beliefs, concepts, and opinions as a result. Additionally, they may track whether customers are sticking with their brand and how they react to marketing campaigns.
  1. Extending Beyond Those Word Clouds
Marketers frequently use word clouds to analyze social communications. Nonetheless, word clouds were helpful when there was a lot of social action.
Marketers frequently stop utilizing unsuitable keywords when there is a lower degree of social activity. They can overcome those word clouds by using data science, which includes
natural language processing techniques.
This can be accomplished by contextualizing the use of language and redistributing relevant content to draw in customers.

Conclusion

As soon as digital marketing is successful and digitalization continues to rise, data science will become increasingly valuable.
If you want to keep one stage ahead of your competition and profit, combining machine learning and digital marketing will be essential in the future.
Those were some of the fascinating ways that data science approaches may be incorporated into digital marketing strategies to increase sales and the bottom line for the company. With data science's pervasiveness, amazing digital marketing strategies are possible. Because of this, a firm knowledgeable in data science will be able to take advantage of the best chances and lead a healthy lifestyle in the digital age. 2023.03.24 06:41 MoreHalf9588 My dad is dying and I have no idea how to cope

On January 19, my (26f) dad (62) came over to help me hang my tv. He called me after with a heavy slur and telling me he was having a really hard time talking. I called my mom who took him to the ER, feeling pretty confident he just had a mini stroke. All signs pointed to a mini stroke. I so badly. so. badly. wish it was a mini stroke.
They did an MRI, then a contrast MRI, then a CT. They sent him home after a day saying that his symptoms say a stroke but his scans say otherwise. They scheduled some more tests and set him up with a neuro-oncologist for over a month out.
It became a waiting game. His speech would go in and out, some days he was fine, other days he sounded like he was drunk. My dad was convinced it was nothing and he was fine but we all knew it was going to be something.
After his appointment with the neuro oncologist, she said this was a case unlike she’s ever seen and she brought it to the state board for review. A brain biopsy was scheduled to find out more.
March 15th, we finally had answers. Stage 4 glioblastoma. A fast moving, aggressive brain tumor that creates legions and spreads rapidly. Typically treatment entails removing as much of these lesions as possible and doing radiation/chemo to slow the growth, but it will never fully go. Most people make it 12-18 months most with the treatment, and that’s if the tumor responds, which it often doesn’t. The physicians assistant giving these results sounded more positive than what was probably truthful. “We treat this all the time,” she said, “he’s in good hands and his symptoms will be mild with this type of radiation and chemo.
By the time we finally got these answers, his speech was slurry more often than not and he was losing his ability to use his right hand. They scheduled radiation and chemo to begin April 4. Three more weeks of regressing before treatment starts. Three fucking weeks.
My parents decided to get a second opinion at a brain cancer specialty clinic, praying they might have more answers or other treatment options. The neurologist here finally gave some honesty. He told us to enjoy as much time as we can with him. Do all the things he enjoys and take in every moment. He said to get our affairs in order. He said to just be present and love. He said this all through tears, unable to promise a time frame.
Earlier my dad fell when taking out the recycling. He wasn’t able to move his right leg. He was at the house alone, stuck for some time before he could get back inside. He said he was trying to write a message in the rocks because he thought that would be it. Thankfully it wasn’t.
Tonight, he made the decision that he no longer wants to do treatment. He doesn’t want to deal with burns on his scalp and the nausea and exhaustion. He doesn’t want more time if his time is left with half of his body working. He wants to ride out the time he has.
With no treatment, they said most people make it 4-6 months from the first sight of symptoms. We are in month 2 and he has already declined so so much. 2 months ago he was hanging a tv. Playing golf. Hosting parties. Today he can hardly walk.
I am so angry and so sad and feel so hopeless right now. If these doctors knew so early that this was something serious, why the fuck has it taken this long? Why the fuck are we just learning the reality? Why would they schedule radiation 3 weeks out after watching the lesions go from 4cm to 26 in 4 weeks? Why is this happening to my dad? How am I supposed to cope with the fact that I have no idea how much time I have left with him, not to mention how much time it will actually BE him.
My dad will probably not see me get my masters degree in two months. Or pass my boards. Or meet the person I fall in love with. Or walk me down the isle. He won’t meet his future grandkids.
He won’t be there to answer my dumb questions about what tools to use to fix my breaking furniture. He won’t be there with his truck to help me move. He won’t be there to tell me what the sounds my car makes means. He won’t be there to give me hugs and tell me he’s proud of me and make me breakfast when I’m sick. I just bought that online storytelling guide that puts all of his memories into a book at the end of the year. But it’s pointless because he won’t even be here by the end of the year, or even the summer.
I need to get this out because I’m not good at taking the love from the people that care about me even though I have so many that do. I have no idea how to let them love me. I’ve only told maybe 6 people, one of which was my boss. I feel like crawling out of my skin and running away when I’m faced with talking about it. I am devastated and lost as I try to prepare for a world without the man who gave me unconditional love my whole life. The only who ran out of the hospital room when I was born right after I was clean, before my mom even got to hold me. and my mom… how is she supposed to go another 20 years without her person? How is she supposed to live in her home alone when 3 months ago they were traveling and living their best lives together?
I hate what the universe has given to my family. I have no ability to be excited for any of my or my family’s upcoming milestones because I feel hallow and powerless and lonely. So, all I can do is share all of this here, to a group of strangers so I don’t have to make my reality aware of how fucking angry and sad and hopeless I really am.

2023.03.24 06:40 MoreHalf9588 My dad is dying and I have no idea how to cope

2023.03.24 06:40 IntentionalFuturist The NEM 3 Solar Worker's Guide

With NEM 3 coming to California, many people in the solar industry have asked me what they should look for in their companies and how to navigate this less pleasant side of the "solar-coaster."
Here are my general, not company-specific, tips on how to know if your company stands a good chance of surviving NEM 3 and what to do if they don't.
Take a hard look at your operations
Ops teams are the unsung heroes of the solar industry. They are the people who fight with obtuse permitting departments, handle city inspections, and ultimately get glass on roofs and permission to operate granted.
Take a close look at your ops team.
Do you have visibility into accounts with a good CRM? A lack of visibility kills momentum and makes it incredibly hard to do business for sales, ops, and administration. If your ops team is forced to run solely off spreadsheets or email chains, run!
Another significant point is how well your company has adapted to NEM 2 ending. For example, when is the cutoff for selling NEM 2 deals? Was it March 14th? Early April? Right up until a few days before the deadline?
How well your company has managed to reorient ops around the temporary processes required for NEM 2 grandfathering by the deadline is very telling about the company's health. Plus, the later the cutoff for sales locking in NEM 2 deals, the more business the company can secure to get through the lean times coming ahead.
Are they being proactive about training on batteries, understanding NEM 3, and how you can prepare for the coming industry changes? What your company focuses on in training reveals a lot about the values and strategy of leadership.
Next, how quickly can your company get a simple solar deal (no roof, electrical, batteries, etc.) through to install? Is it weeks or months? If even the most basic deals take 3-6 months to be installed, not to mention PTO'd, the company can be susceptible to cash flow problems.
Companies that take forever to complete deals (and ultimately pay their salespeople) also suffer from the issue of part-time sales teams where everyone has to have a steady day job and do solar on the side. If most of the sales team are part-timers, then you are in a terrible situation where the entire sales organization could collapse when sales slow down after April 14th and you can't make substantial commission checks for a few hours a month of work.
How are the finances?
As sales, ops, or admin people, you might not get to see the books for your company, especially if it is privately held and not subject to public financial disclosures. But there are signs you can look for to see if there are any major red flags.
Have you suddenly lost access to a tool or platform unexpectedly? While outages happen, they are usually announced on the responsible company's website or social media channels. And sometimes it is an honest mistake.
But suppose there is a pattern of temporarily losing access to software-as-a-service platforms such as design tools like Aurora or Solo, communication tools like Slack or Gmail, your CRM, or other paid-for tools. That is a big red flag in that things are not alright on the company's financial side.
And if your company misses a payday, it is time to start polishing your resume immediately.
High-level departures or changes
Pay attention to high-level departures from your company. A certain degree of job hopping is to be expected. If someone exits the company to take another job with a pay and/or title bump, good for them!
But if you notice that multiple people at the management level are leaving all at once, they likely know something you don't, and they have lost faith in the company. A growing, expanding, healthy company does not typically start losing leaders with little notice and in quick succession.
Also, be sure to scrutinize high-level hires in leadership and management roles. Of course, then there is the honeymoon period, but pay attention to how these leadership hires can change the company culture for better or worse. How do they treat people inside or outside of their department? Do they act ethically? Do they lift up the people around them or blame others for the mistakes of their department?
What about vision, perks, or loyalty programs?
It is easy to have vision in solar. It is a revolutionary technology that democratizes access to power, strengthens the grid (when the utilities cooperate), saves people money, and helps the environment. But don't let a mission statement you wholeheartedly agree with get in the way of making smart financial and career decisions for yourself and your family.
The perks are great but also just fluff. Easy to implement, the first things to go when things get tough, and not a good reason to stay anywhere.
And as someone who was part of two different solar company loyalty programs that involved long-term payouts on commission or company options (only available in the event of a sale), let me be the first to tell you to take cash upfront. Don't let companies underpay you because you MIGHT get a bigger long-term payout later. It is not worth it.
If they allow you to earn stock shares that survive you leaving the company, great. But if the program involves you staying at the company to realize the benefit of a company sale or continuing to get residual commission payments, it is a scam to keep costs low. They are taking a zero-interest loan off your earnings and can keep it if you leave. You are better off with better pay or lower baselines now.
What if my company goes under and I don't get paid?
Suppose you are a W2 employee or a commissioned salesperson working for a California-based solar company that has gone out of business and have not been paid your final paycheck. In that case, there are several steps you can take to recover your unpaid wages.
First, you should file a claim with the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE). The DLSE is the state agency responsible for enforcing California's labor laws, including wage and hour laws. You can file a wage claim with the DLSE by filling out the appropriate form and providing documentation of your unpaid wages. The DLSE will investigate your claim and if it finds that your employer owes you unpaid wages, it will issue an order requiring your employer to pay you.
Secondly, you may also be able to file a claim with the bankruptcy court if your former employer has filed for bankruptcy. If your former employer has filed for bankruptcy, you may be considered a creditor and can file a claim in bankruptcy court to recover your unpaid wages. However, bankruptcy proceedings can be complex and time-consuming, and you may want to consult with an attorney before pursuing this option.
Thirdly, you can also file a complaint with the California Labor Commissioner's Office. The Labor Commissioner's Office is responsible for investigating and enforcing California's labor laws, including wage and hour laws. If you file a complaint with the Labor Commissioner's Office, it will investigate your claim and may take legal action against your former employer to recover your unpaid wages.
It is important to note that California law provides penalties and interest for employers who fail to pay their employees on time. Therefore, if your former employer fails to pay you on time, you may be entitled to additional penalties and interest on top of your unpaid wages.
And for W2 workers, file for unemployment quickly as you search for another position.
Finally, if you are a commissioned salesperson, you should review your contract with your former company to determine whether you are entitled to any unpaid commissions. California law requires employers to pay commissions to their employees on a regular basis. If your former employer failed to pay you the commissions you earned, you might also be entitled to recover those commissions.
Green flags
Good reputation: The company and its leadership should have an excellent reputation among customers, employees, and sales reps. Look at online reviews and ideally talk to people who work there about their experience. Get into the details and not just the mission or vibe of the place. As I said, the mission is easy, and perks are fantastic. But it's about the everyday experience and trajectory of the company that is important.
Strong operations: A solid and well-organized operations team is critical for a successful solar company. You want things to run well and have the resources to quickly and effectively take care of customers. No matter your position in the company, a good ops team will make your job much better.
A good CRM: A Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) is the backbone of a solar company. It provides a single source of truth for every deal so that sales, ops, admin, payroll, and leadership can see everything going on with each account. The CRM allows everyone to do their part to move accounts forward, providing transparency and accountability.
A focus on training and professional development: The solar industry changes quickly. In the past year, we have had the Inflation Reduction Act pass, NEM 3 pass in California, tech improvement, and new brands breaking into the industry while others leave. A company focus on training and professional development is critical to long-term success in a changing and evolving industry.
And finally, for sales reps, you should be able to comfortably sell solar at $3.30 per watt or less to be competitive in a NEM 3 environment. Make sure that your company offers a baseline that makes that possible for you.
Conclusion
Solar will continue to grow and thrive in California, even if we have a period of slower adoption. Utility rates are expensive, and battery technology is improving to the point where net metering policies will not matter soon. Between better and cheaper home batteries and Vehicle-2-Grid technology, all power will be economically generated, stored, and consumed on-site.
Large, strategic companies will buy up smaller, distressed companies for their personnel thanks to installer, electrician, and admin staff shortages. Plus, solar companies can never have enough salespeople.
If you are inclined to move, there will also be opportunities in other states and territories. With energy prices rising nationwide, residential solar is becoming economically viable in more and more areas.
All of these massive industry changes in California may be stressful. However, I hope these tips and tricks help you make better decisions about where you are now and where you may end up. With the right mindset and knowledge, you can make informed decisions about your current situation and future opportunities.

INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS
Nothing particularly notable, just a bunch of politicians from across the country that they invited. See debates if you want details.
PRESENTING PETITIONS
Betty Nippi-Albright (NDP) 1:42:00
Presents a petition signed by residents of Saskatoon that calls for duty-to-consult legislation to be enacted. The petitioners are concerned that without this legislation in place, the government is responsible for recognizing when the duty-to-consult is triggered, which has resulted in a lack of engagement with Indigenous communities and lost court battles. The petitioners request that the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan call on the Government of Saskatchewan to immediately stop the sale of Crown lands and enact meaningful duty-to-consult legislation. 90% of crown land has already been sold.
Terry Dennis (SaskParty) 1:43:17
The federal government is infringing on their rights. Wants the Sask First policies.
*NOTE: This is the daily unfounded constitutional challenge that they bring.
Vicki Mowatt (NDP) 1:44:28
Ms. Mowat presents a petition signed by residents of Wilkie that calls for the Government of Saskatchewan to fix the rural health care staffing crisis. The petitioners are concerned about the recruitment and retention of health care professionals in Saskatchewan's rural health care facilities, which has led to disruptions in emergency room, acute, lab, and X-ray services. The petitioners request that the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan call on the Government of Saskatchewan to address the staffing crisis.
STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS
Vicki Mowatt (NDP) 1:48:39
Bringing awareness to multiple myeloma.
Alana Ross (SaskParty) 1:46:59
Tribute to Himboldt Broncos and an intro to a local from her riding. He presented the team and and ems/first responders last year.
Nathaniel Teed (NDP) 1:48:26
Speaks about dedication and passion of the Ukrainian Museum of Canada and its staff, volunteers, and community members. He highlights the importance of the museum's artifacts and how they remain relevant today. Mr. Teed was invited to give remarks at the opening of a new exhibit at the museum, which remembers the discriminatory reality of Canada's detainment policies during World War I. He mentions that thousands of Ukrainians were among those held in internment camps across Canada and forced to work in a country they did not know. He also connects current events, such as Putin's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
Terry Jenson (SaskParty) 1:49:40
Talks about 5000 people in Warman joining for a cheerleading event.
Gary Grewal (SaskParty) 1:51:15
Talks about his visit to the Regina Trades and Skills last fall.
Fred Bradshaw (SaskParty) 1:52:47
Talks about some people joining the winter games this past winter.
Muhammad Fiaz (SaskParty) 1:54:01
Starts by saying “Members opposite won’t want to hear it, but we have good news from our economy”. He says that urban starts in Saskatchewan for Feb 2023 are up 76% from last year, and claims that the best in the country. He also says more people are choosing to move here because we are the most stable on the planet.
*NOTE: I didn’t bother fact checking this, but a year ago were pandemic measures, short supply of building materials etc. It’s a dishonest metric from the start. And to start out inflammatory… strange. His entire speech is ridiculous, especially when you consider our worst in country outmigration and migration retention rates.
QUESTION PERIOD
Health Care Staffing and Provision of Emergency Care 1:55:30
Vicki Mowatt, Nathaniel Teed (NDP) vs Paul Merriman (SaskParty)
Mowat accuses the government of failing on the economy and health care, citing the closure of the emergency room at Regina General Hospital in Regina. She questions whether the people of Regina should expect such failures when it comes to their emergency care.
Merriman’s excuse is there are always ebbs and flows within the health care system and that officials have told him the pressure at the Regina General has been alleviated. He also cites that Saskatoon emergency was shut down over the weekend as well.
He also mentions that the government is working on a human resource plan to ensure that people in Saskatchewan receive the health care they deserve. Mowat argues that health care workers are sounding the alarm and that the disaster at the Regina General should never have happened, and quotes the president of the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) as saying that there is not enough time, capability, or staff to provide safe patient care in most facilities in the province.
Mowat questions the Minister of Health's responsibility for the state of health care and demands that he take action to ensure that such incidents never happen again. The Minister responds by stating that he met with SUN and other stakeholders to discuss the government's four-point plan to address the issue. He also cites the government's efforts to hire more doctors and nurses and to expand the scope of health care providers in the system. Mowat insists that the government's HR plan is not enough and that it is not working. She criticises the government's 15-year record and accuses it of refusing to take responsibility for its failures.
She also questions why the Minister of Health is not listening to nurses and local voices in health care and demands that he work to find real solutions to the crisis in emergency rooms. She says that he shut down a request for a task force to address these issues. The Minister responds by stating that he meets with unions and other groups regularly to incorporate their ideas into the government's plan. He emphasises that the government is working to meet the needs of people in Saskatchewan and will never take their health care for granted.
Teed describes a retired nurse from his riding who had to lay on the floor having a medical emergency. She couldn’t get an ambulance and called family to say goodbye. Merriman responds by he has met with the ambulance providers and went for coffee with them. Teed fires back saying no one should wait an hour for an ambulance, and people are getting hurt.
\NOTE: The tomorrow measures Merriman cites have been deemed not enough by the provincial auditor. They use the same excuse week after week, but the results appears to get work, considering that ERs are closed in our largest cities. He mentions this 4 point plan, and cites the number of nurses and doctors that he’s bring in, but it’s all bandaids, and it’s fewer than we should have previously had. The plan is very late.*
Jennifer Bowes, Matt Love (NDP) vs Dustin Duncan (SaskParty)
Access to childcare spaces
Bowes expresses concern about the crisis in the healthcare system and the rushed announcement of a $10-a-day childcare policy, and didn’t take the time to get things right to get headlines. She argues that parents who rely on part-time care should not be collateral damage in the minister's desire to score a great headline. Bowes questions whether the Duncan will work with childcare workers to ensure that no one loses their space as a result of the announcement. Duncan responds by assuring that no spaces will be cut, and he emphasizes that he got this deal done 3 years early. Bowes continues to press for answers, stating that the government needs to listen to parents and childcare providers who stand to lose access to their spots. She argues that a one-size-fits-all approach does not work for working moms in Saskatoon and Whitewood. Duncan questions the opposition's inconsistent stance on the policy and its impact on the economy.
\NOTE Duncan’s comment about the NDP being inconsistent is nothing but absurd. He is still positioning this as his achievement, but reality is he accepted the $10 a day, he didn’t work for it at all. I also didn’t fact check school funding numbers.. It’s clearly underfunded regardless.*
Funding for education
Matt Love (NDP) vs Dustin Duncan (SaskParty)
Love chimes up that Prairie Valley School division has now started a charity to continue to keep their school running. Duncan insists that he has foundations in place to keep the schools going, and his side of the isle laughs out loud at Love, then he claims Saskatchewan is the highest spending on education in the country. Love returns back that he asked about this funding in 2020, and Duncan told him “We are not going to rely on bake sales to ensure that we have a continuation of a safe return to work” and asks how bottle drives compare as a funding method. Duncan again insists that they’re giving a lot of money to schools, and asks if Love doesn’t want people with a lot of money to help fund the schools, and cites the Brownlee family (may be spelled wrong, I don’t know who they are.)
Government Support for Harm Reduction 2:18:15
Vicki Mowatt (NDP) vs Everette Hindley (SaskParty)
Latest overdose numbers, 103 deaths in two months this year, same as all of 2016. This conversation happens daily. Hindley says that they have a going forward plan of additional funding. Mowatt continues to press for immediate action, Hindley justifies the money that has been spent but doesn’t address the current record, but has a going forward plan.
ORDERS OF THE DAY
Bill No. 109 — The Trespass to Property Amendment Act, 2022 2:22:00
Nicole Sarauer (NDP)
Says that they have put very serious concerns on the record about the bill, how it would affect stakeholders. She brings up the premiers tweet about federal workers going on to private property and calls it a redundant bill since people already need to abide by these laws. Cites concerns from Saskel, SaskEnergy and highways workers who are concerns about the rhetoric and their safety.
Bill No. 116 — The Plant Health Act 2:25:06
Vicki Mowatt (NDP)
Notes importance of pest control in agriculture. She is leaving more questions to their critic.
Bill No. 117 — The Saskatchewan Firearms Act 2:27:45
Betty Nippi-Albright (NDP)
Cites her experience of her husband being shot by an illegal firearm, as well as being an indigenous person who relies on firearms for their way of life. She shares the concerns of FSIN regarding lack of consultation. She wants more consultation with impact communities.
Bill No. 118 — The Warrant Compliance Act 2:34:32
Vicki Mowatt (NDP)
She agrees with powers to the police to help find violent reoffenders. Again raises concerns about who is a repeat violent offender, there are definitions missing, and she is concerned about unintended consequence for families, especially kids.
Bill No. 122 — The Saskatchewan Revenue Agency Act 2:37:56
Doyle Vermette (NDP)
Asks why they are doing this, he’s been asking every reading but isn’t getting an answer. Says there was no consultation, and now business will need to file two taxes, one provincial one federal. No answers provided. He cites the cost of a new crown, and says that he has heard ministers in the Saskparty say that they can raise taxes, and they’ll still get voted in. And when the result is negative, they’ll say something about the liberal ndp federal government and put their hand out begging for federal dollars.
Bill No. 124 — The Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Amendment Act 2:45:38
Jennifer Bowes (NDP)
Cites once again there are mixed responses from stakeholders, and wants the government to consult.
Bill No. 126 — The Summary Offences Procedure Amendment Act, 2022 2:52:58
Nathanial Teed (NDP)
He’s happy about allowing first nations to enforce their own laws, bylaws, summar offense tickets, time limits. He’s in favour.

He also connects current events, such as Putin's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.

2023.03.24 06:21 Significant-Notice- Do Americans want to ban TikTok?

A Washington Post poll finds that 41 percent of Americans support a federal ban of the popular short-video app, while 25 percent say they oppose it. And 71 percent are concerned that TikTok’s parent company is based in China, including 36 percent who say they are “very concerned.”
Here is the WaPo article. A single poll on this issue is not dispositive, but still it suggests to me that if our politicians force the sale of TikTok to an American company that would not be an electorally unpopular move.
You can see the broader pattern here:
  1. Change starts with the states, many of which have been restricting the use of TikTok on government phones. Then the momentum spreads to the federal government.
  2. American companies end up heavily favored (yes the competitors gain, as a side issue who will Elizabeth Warren allow to buy TikTok? Certainly not Meta.) Market concentration rises.
  3. National security considerations, or ostensible national security considerations, win out.
  4. For all the talk of polarization and gridlock, both parties get on board.
  5. TikTok is the Girardian sacrifice to the American national vision, which in any case proceeds with rampant surveillance.
  6. We then move on to the next thing.
Welcome to American history people!
As you may recall, I do not favor a ban on TikTok, but a forced sale, at the very least, now seems likely.

2023.03.24 06:18 Far-Spread8795 World Cup Palaio Faliro RG Results

The first world cup of the year ended last week, where we saw in total of 13 different medalists on the apparatuses and AA podiums, which was pretty cool. I really enjoyed watching the finals, I especially liked Raffaeli's ball and ribbon, Nikolova's ball, Kolosov and Taniyeva's clubs, and Vedeneeva's ribbon.
The organisers were pretty bad ngl, they didn't stream most of qualifications and they even messed up the flags on one of the final's result list.
I also wonder what happened to Milena Baldassarri (ITA) during the break, her results from this competition were not competitive at all, despite hitting all 4 of her routines!?!
Despite all of that it was a great start of the season and I can't wait for the next world cup which will be on 31st March - 2nd April in Sofia, Bulgaria!

2023.03.24 06:15 MoreHalf9588 My dad is dying and I have no idea how to cope

2023.03.24 06:11 Jr-Seeger Psychological Aspects of Survival: Understanding and Managing Stress in a Survival Situation

Psychology of Survival
It takes much more than the konwledge and skills to build shelters, get food, make fires, and travel without the aid of standard navigational devices to live successfuly through a survival situation. Some people with little or no survival people with survival training have not used their skills and died. A key ingredient in any survival situation is the mental attitude of the individual involved. Having survival skills is important; having the will to survive is essential. Without a desk to survive, acquired skills serve little purpose and invaluable knowledge goes to waste. There is a psychology to survival. The soldier in a survival environment faces many stresses that ultimately impact on his mind. These stresses can produce thoughts and emotions that, if poorly understood, can transform a confident, well-trained soldier into an indecisive, ineffective individual with questionable ability to survive. Thus, every soldier must be aware of and be able to recognize those stresses commonly associated with survival. Additionally, it is stresses associated with survival.
A Look at Stress
Before we can understand our psychological reactions in a survival setting, it is helpful to first know a little bit about stress. Stress is not a disease that you cure and eliminate. Instead, it is a condition we all experience. Stress can be described as our reaction to pressure. It is the name given to the experience we have as we physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually respond to life’s tensions.
Need for Stress
We need stress because it has many positive benefits. Stress provides us with challenges; it gives us chances to learn about our values and strengths. Stress can show our ability to handle pressure without breaking; it tests our adaptability and flexibility; it can stimulate us to do our best. Because we usually do not consider unimportant events stressful, stress can also be an excellent indicator of the significance we attach to an event—in other words, it highlights what is important to us. We need to have some stress in our lives, but too much of anything can be bad. The goal is to have stress, but not an excess of it. Too much stress can take its toll on people and organizations. Too much stress leads to distress. Distress causes an uncomfortable tension that we try to escape and, preferably, avoid. Listed below are a few of the common signs of distress you may find in your fellow soldiers or yourself when faced with to much stress:

As you can see, stress can be constructive or destructive. It can encourage or discourage, move us along or stop us dead in our tracks, and make life meaningful or seemingly meaningless. Stress can inspire you to operate successfully and perform at your maximum efficiency in a survival situation. It can also cause you to panic and forget all your training. Key to your survival is your ability to manage the inevitable stresses you will encounter. The survivor is the soldier who works witht his stresses instread of letting his stresses work on him. Any event can lead to stress and, as everyone has experienced, events don’t always come one at a time. Often, stressfl events occur simultaneously. These events are not stress, but they produce it and are called “stressors.” Stressors are the obvious cause while stress is the response. Once the body recognizes the presence of a stressor, it then begins to act to protect itself. In response to a stressor, the body prepares either to “fight or flee.” This prepation involves an internal SOS sent throughout the body. As the body responds to this SOS, several actions take place. The body releases stored fuels (sugar and fats) to provide quick energy; breathing rate increases to supply more oxygen to the blood; muscşe tension increases to prepare for action; blood clotting mechanisms are activated to reduce bleeding from cuts; senses become more acute (hearing becomes more sensitive, eyes become big, smell becomes sharper) so that you are more aware of your surrounding and heart rate and blood pressure rise to provide more blood to the muscles. This protective posture lets a person cope with potential dangers; however, a person connot maintain such a level of alertness indefinitely. Stressors are not courteous; one stressor does not leave because another one arrives. Stressors add up. The cumulative effect of minor stressors can be a major distress if they all happen too close together. As the body’s resistance to stress wears down and the sources of stress continue (or increase), eventually a state of exhaustion arrives. At this point, the ability to resist stress or use it in a positive way gives out and signs of distress appear. Anticipating stressors and developing strategies to cope with them are two ingredients in the effective management of stress. It is therefore essential that the soldier in a survival setting be aware of the types of stressors he will encounter. Let’s take a look at a few of these.
Injury, Illness, or Death Injury, illness, and death are real possibilities a survivor has to face. Perhaps nothing is more stressful than being alone in an unfamiliar environment where you could die from hostile action, an accident, or from eating something lethal. Illness and injury can also add to stress by limiting your ability to maneuver, get food and drink, find shelter, and defend yourself. Even if illness and injury don’t lead to death, they add to stress through the pain and discomfort they generate. It is only by con-trolling the stress associated with the vulnerability to injury, illness, and death that a soldier can have the courage to take the risks associated with survival tasks.
Uncertainly and Lack of Control
Some people have trouble operating in settings where everything is not clear-cut. The only guarantee in survival situation is that nothing is guaranteed. It can be extremely stressful operating on limited information in a setting where you have limited control of your surroundings. This uncertainty and lack of control also add to the stress of being ill, injured, or killed.
Environment
Even under the most ideal circumstances, nature is quite formidable. In survival, a soldier will have to contend with the stressors of weather, terrain, and the variety of creatures inhabiting an are. Heat, cold, rain, winds, mountains, swamps, deserts, insects, dangerous reptiles, and other animals are just a few of the challenges awaiting the soldier working to survive. Depending on how a soldier handles the stress of his environment, his surroundings can be either a source of food and protection or can be a cause of extreme discomfort leading to injury, illness, or death.
Hunger and Thirst
Without food and water a person will weaken and eventually die. Thus, getting and preserving food and water takes on increasing importance as the lenght of time in a survival setting increases. For a soldier used to having his provisions issued, foraging can be a big source of stress. Forcing yourself to continue surviving is not easy as you grow more tired. It is possible to become so fatigued that the act of just staying awake is stressful in itself.
Isolation
There are some advantages to facing adversity with other. As soldiers we learn individual skills, but we train to function as part of a team. Although we, as soldiers, complain about higher headquarters, we become used to the information and guidance it provides, expecially during times of confusion. Being in contanct with others also provides a greater sens of security and a feeling someone is available to help if problems occur. A significant stressor in survival situations is that often a person or team has to rely solely on its own resources. Remember, what is stressful to one person may not be stressful to another. Your experiences, training, personal outlook on life, physical and mental conditioning, and level of self-confidence contribute to what you will find stressful in a survival environment. The object is not to avoid stress, but rather to manage the stressors of survival and make them work for you.
