Episode 04: Finders Creepers
"Last time, on Total Drama Revenge of the Island!" Chris opened over a stock shot of the camp, the recap montage starting off with a clip of the contestants racing off towards the side of Mt. Looming Tragedy. "Twelve bumbling buffoons battled it out in a brutal buffet of bombastica," Chef was shown gleefully dropping ice blocks on the climbing campers, catching Geoff and Scott but narrowly missing Molly and almost catching Anne Maria.
"Why all the 'B' words?" B was shown demonstrating his couch invention created from junk, "Because, B proved he was a brave and brilliant improviser who scored big time for his team!" B used an ice pick to poke holes onto a shard of ice and placed it on top of the castle, directing the sun beam towards the Maggots' base and melting it effectively. "Until his bitter teammate Scott allowed brainy Molly to botch it on purpose and B got the boot," Molly threw a snowball onto the shard, melting the castle and B was shown being flung into the night.
"And now," Chris said, popping up in front of a shot of the full moon in a cloudy sky with a lit candle in his hand, marking the end of the recap montage, "tonight's challenge is about fear." He made a devilish look. "And everyone knows fear is a dish best served, in the dark!" he said in an exaggeratedly spooky manner, an eerie sound playing as he laughed evilly. "Huh?" he stopped suddenly, the camera pulling back to reveal Chef standing next to him...dressed like a showgirl with lots of peacock feathers. "Chef!" the host said in annoyance.
"Wardrobe was all out of vampire costumes," Chef explained as the series's capstone then began to play.
"It's all scary!" Chris said, walking off to the left. "Other than that," he scowled and gestured back toward his off-screen assistant. "Right here! Right now!" he resumed his usual demeanor. "On Total! Drama! Revenge, of the Island!" He adopted his spooky tone as he finished the title, and ended with another evil laugh.

Frogs and crickets chirped and croaked, joined by an owl's hoots as the episode opened on a shot of the full moon. The camera panned down to the cabins as the sound of snoring was added to the nighttime mix, and the scene cut inside to the girls' side of the Maggots' cabin where Anne Maria and Katie were sleeping peacefully in the bunk they shared. Dave and DJ were also shown sound asleep on the boys' side, and the scene cut to the Rat boys to show Geoff also sound asleep.
The camera cut next to show Sammy waking up with a yawn. She stretched her arms out for a few good seconds and fell right back to sleep...until the sudden shrill wail of a blow horn pierced the air.
"RUN! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!" Chris hollered from off-screen as the scene cut back outside, the blowhorn continuing even over the panicked shouts of the campers.
The camera briefly cut to a close-up of the blowhorn still blowing, then over to the Maggots' cabin as they ran outside fully dressed – first Katie screaming "What's happening?!"; then DJ just screaming; then Scarlett yelling out "This is unethical!"; then Anne Maria just hollering; and then finally Dave coming out, calling out "I'm wide awake!"
The Rats were shown next, Scott grunting "Me first!" as he shoved Geoff down the stairs and slid down the railing; Leshawna quickly running after him; Sammy screaming at the top of her lungs; and Trent coming out last at around the same time while screaming.
They assembled nervously in the common area between cabins, where Chris – wearing a pair of heavy earmuffs – finally eased up on the blowhorn. "Glad you all could make it," he grinned as he took off his headgear.
Molly soon arrived later. "Is there an attack or what?" she asked her teammates.
Katie shot her a quick glare. "Of course not, but why would you care about anything but yourself?"
Confessional: Molly
"Olay, yes," Molly moaned. "I left my teammates behind, but that was because I wanted to win the challenge first. I was always taught to focus on one thing before moving on to the next, and that's what I did." She grew concerned. "I don't see any problems with that."
Confessional Ends
"I hope you're all ready," Chris continued, "'cause it's challenge time!" He stepped to the side as Chef rolled up a large widescreen television on a wheeled cart. It was currently displaying an aerial map of the island with several additional colored icons – six bright green skulls scattered around the island; three yellowish envelopes over the campfire pit, the western edge of the campgrounds, and deeper into the forest; and a large purple spider in the middle of it all.
"We're gonna do a challenge?" Anne Maria wondered. "In the middle of the woods? At night?"
Confessional: Anne Maria
"Doesn't Chris know that we need our hours of sleep?" Anne Maria criticized. "I haven't even done my hair."
Confessional Ends
"Your challenge," Chris continued as though there'd been no interruption, "a scavenger hunt for three creepy souvenirs. Your locations? A haunted forest," he walked across to the other side of the television, "a scaaary pet cemetery, and an extra spooktastic cave. First team to each location gets a special clue," he said, the camera zooming in as he pointed towards the westernmost letter icon on the screen. "But watch out for booby traps," he added jovially as he moved his finger to one of the skulls, "I really went to town with them, heheh." The campers were shown watching warily.
"So move fast," the host added, "and stick together. You'll be penalized for each player you lose!"
"Umm, what's with the giant spider?" Sammy asked.
"Oh yeah," Chris answered as the shot zoomed in on the icon in question, "there's some kinda gigantic mutated spider sorta running around loose on the island."
The cast immediately started to voice their fears and protests.
"A huge, humongous spider is on the loose?!" DJ hugged Katie out of fear.
"I guess so," Katie said frightfully, but was secretly enjoying DJ hugging her.
The shot zoomed in on Dave in particular as he looked around, moaning "Oh no..." in annoyance.
Confessional: Dave
"Ever since I was a kid, I've never been a huge fan of spiders," Dave admitted. "They leave messy webs everywhere they go, and it takes me a long time to clean them up in places like my uncle's attic or my aunt's basement." A spider soon crawled down on a string. "This is gonna be unpopular, but I'm not a huge fan of Spider-Man because of my dislike of spiders." The spider hissed after hearing the criticism, making Dave flinch.
Confessional: Leshawna
"I may seem fearless on the outside, but spiders are one of the few things I'm terrified of," Leshawna said nervously. "Anything with eight legs is frightening enough."
Confessional Ends
"And since I want to keep things fair for both teams," Chris continued, "I decided to bring back an eliminated contestant for the Rats."
"It's so good to be back here!" the familiar voice of Sierra was heard, becoming more recognizable when she ran next to Chris.
"Sierra! I haven't introduced you yet!" Chris snapped at her.
"If I waited any longer, the episode would've been past the usual 22-minute runtime," Sierra explained. "I'll just go join the Toxic Rats and save you the trouble of doing so since I've rejoined."
Chris watched the fangirl run up to the contestants in annoyance. "Long story short, Sierra is the returnee." Chris regained his smile, and the dramatic and almost heroic tune started playing again. "There's nothing to fear but mortal terror itself! Talk soon," he added impishly, sounding his blowhorn once again.
The twelve campers ran off towards the woods.

The footage flashed ahead to another shot of the full moon over the forested hills of Wawanakwa, an owl hooting as the scene cut down to ground level. The logo of the Toxic Rats appeared in the corner of the screen just before the team itself did, running up and stopping in front of a tree with a loudspeaker set up in its branches.
"We're in first place! Sweet!" Geoff cheered just before the loudspeaker whined into activity.
"Welcome to the Haunted Forest!" Chris announced over it, the shot panning downward to show the six Rats gathering around a small crack in the ground. "Your clue can be found at the base of this tree!" Sierra reached into the hole...and screamed in pain as something metallic snapped inside the hole.
"Inside a bear trap," Chris finished his announcement with a laugh.
Sierra withdrew her hand from the hole, the trap clamped down firmly on her arm – though she was at least clutching a note in her hand. "Here! Read the clue," she said, passing it to a mildly shocked Sammy. Just as she was about to read it, the sound of approaching footsteps distracted her and her teammates.
"Bad news guys," Anne Maria commented from the six Maggots. "They have the clue."
"Even with a team advantage they still managed to beat us," Katie reminded them.
"We can let the opposing team have their clue," Scarlett said, looking back towards her teammates. "I have another plan," she said, running ahead with her teammates in tow.

The shot cut to the Maggots as they stopped at a clearing further along the trail. "So what's the plan?" Katie asked the girl in front.
"Find a place to hide so we can follow the Rats and their clue to our first souvenir," Scarlett answered. "Into that bush!"
The Maggots dived and painfully tried to hide in a thorn bush.
"Be quiet," Dave hissed, "They're coming."
"Inside a knot is a nest," Sammy read as the scene cut to the Rats. "Your souvenir lives with a pest. Find Polaris to travel northwest? Polaris is the North Star."
"The North Star is right there, so this way's northwest! There's a path!" Trent declared. He ran off, the rest of his teammates following suit.
"Now we follow!" Scarlett declared as the rest of her teammates came out of the bush.

The Rats' logo reappeared as the footage skipped ahead again to them running along through the woods.
"Inside a knot is a nest," Geoff muttered to himself as the shot zoomed in on him. "Hey Sammy, what was the rest of that poem again?" he called back without taking his eyes off the path ahead.
When he didn't get an answer he immediately skidded to a stop. "Sammy?!" he yelled in rising panic, and looked back to see nobody behind him.
The shot cut back to show that the rest of the Rats had stopped in their tracks. "What? Did we lose the mouse?" Scott asked.
Geoff gulped. "We get a penalty for each player we lose, right?" he asked nervously.
"And there's a spider crawling around, right?!" Leshawna said in panic. The shot cut outward as he did so, showing a large purple spider crawling down through the shadows of the forest trees.
"We're looking for a knot with a nest, right?" Scott looked off to the right; the camera quick-panned over to a large tree with a noticeable hollow knot in the trunk with the hints of a nest inside; a few green and red marks had been spray-painted on the bark under it.
"There it is!" Leshawna said, immediately rushing towards it.
"But what about Sammy?" Trent asked his team.
"We'll look for her after we get the souvenir," Sierra assured him.
Leshawna started climbing up the trunk as the rest of her team ran up to join her, and soon began to root through the tree hollow with one arm.
Suddenly, a large eye opened up inside the hollow and stared directly at Leshawna. She screamed, and several squid-like tentacles reached out of the tree's other hollows. One quickly grabbed her around the neck and held her up, while another gave her a few wet slaps then poked her in the eye.
"My eye!" Leshawna yelped in pain and terror. In response the tentacle tightened its grip, and Leshawna began to choke.
"What do we do!?" Sierra yelled in panic.
Geoff looked around, then bent down and picked up a handful of small rocks. "We can throw these stones at the octo guy!"
"Good idea!" Scott said as he and his team picked up rocks of their own and began throwing them at the creature, but they seemed to be hitting Leshawna more than the mutant squid-tree monster. Eventually, the thing just raised its captive up even higher, then slammed her down onto the ground and hissed at the others.
"RUN!" Geoff shouted, turning to flee as a tentacle shot towards them, forcing them to scatter.
Unfortunately, Trent was unable to get away in time and was lifted up by the leg. Trent cried in pain as the mutant began to punch him in the stomach with a curled-up tentacle.
The sounds of pain and wet punches caused Leshawna to get frustrated. "No way am I gonna get pushed around or let a squid attack my teammates!" she declared, getting back on her feet and climbing up the tree-squid's trunk while it was distracted. "Quit buggin' us!" she cried as she punched the mutant in the eye.
The beast bellowed in pain, dropping Trent and retracting into its tree. As soon as he got back up, a strand of spider's webbing shot down from above, sticking on to his head and pulling him away from the floor.
Leshawna reached into the knot once again, quickly and triumphantly pulling out a brass key. "And that's how I roll!" she called down to her teammates.
She dropped down to the forest floor, and landed in front of Geoff, who grinned when he saw it. "We got the key, Trent." Geoff received no response as Scott rejoined.
"Trent?!" Leshawna yelled out in concern. "Where are you?!"
As she panicked, the shot changed to a perspective further away, and the footage switched to an infrared shot of the four Rats.
"Guess he's gone," Sierra sighed sadly. "On the plus side, we found the key."
"We lost two players!" Leshawna said. "Shouldn't we go and look for them?"
"Knowing Chris, he probably has them trapped someplace else, so I'm not too worried right now," Scott brushed it off.
"You've got a point there," Geoff agreed.
Just then, the six Maggots arrived on the scene.
Scott was the first to notice them. "No luck here," he quickly said with faux disappointment, "Do you want to see if Sammy and Trent saw anything better over there?" he looked back and asked Sierra, Leshawna, and Geoff.
"Absolutely. It's not just the three of us," Sierra caught on before they turned and ran off.
"I see something!" Katie pointed off to the camera's right – the direction of the squid-tree. "Team colors!" The camera briefly cut over to the knot in question, with a focus on the marks below it in the two teams' colors.
"Excellent eye, Katie," Scarlett complimented while DJ ran to the tree.
"I'm not just a phone addict, y'know," Katie laughed a bit.
"I got the key, everyone," the camera cut to DJ who was in the tree's hollow and holding out a key. He threw the key in front of Dave and Molly.
"Way to go, DJ!" Molly said.
"Now you want to support us," Dave snarked at her. "Where was that when I was frozen?"
"Are you still mad about that?" Molly groaned.
"Of course we are," Katie snorted.
"You don't just leave your teammates behind," Dave lectured.
"Whatever happened happened," Anne Maria got in between them. "Let's focus more on the challenge and less on squabbling right now."
Confessional: Anne Maria
"I'm here to start no fights," Anne Maria confessed. "What Molly did was messed up, but they can scold her after the challenge."
Confessional: Molly
"Thank you, Anne Maria," Molly let out a sigh of relief. "Finally, someone who won't ride on me for my choices!"
Confessionals End
"You're right, Anne Maria," Dave sighed. "We shouldn't waste anymore time fighting."
As Dave bent down to pick up the key, however, a line of spider silk shot down from the treetops, wrapped around Molly, and pulled her up out of sight.
DJ regrouped with his team. "They said they saw something far away, so maybe-" he paused and looked behind his teammates. "Wait, where's Molly?"
The other four looked behind them and gasped. "Oh no, Molly's got taken by the spider!" Dave cried out.
"What do we do now?" Anne Maria griped.
Scarlett sighed. "Not to sound apathetic, but I think we're gonna have to continue on without her."
"Are you sure about that?" Katie questioned.
"I'm sure we can catch up to wherever she's being taken to," Scarlett waved off her concern.
"Well, I hope so," Katie said as she and the team exchanged nervous looks.
Confessional: Dave
"I don't see Molly in the best light right now, but that doesn't mean that I want her to be taken away," Dave began to shudder. "Especially by a spider."
Confessional Ends
"Why are we running so slow when we're in a challenge?" Geoff said as the scene moved back to him, Sierra, Scott, and Leshawna running through the forest. "We won't beat the other team at this rate."
"Relax, I know what I'm doing," Scott conversed with him.
Confessional: Scott
Scott was whittling another piece of wood with his shark tooth. "I'm heading us back into last place where we belong. Another elimination ceremony for the Rats and it's bye-bye Geoff! Or Sierra. I can't decide."
Confessional Ends
"C'mon, let's rock this! With years of exercise and partying, I've got energy to burn!" Geoff said, snatching the key from Leshawna and jogging ahead. The three followed him, but the camera kept its focus on Geoff as he passed a tree stump, then a rock; then stepped on a mysterious clump of dirt… which exploded and sent him flying.
Leshawna, Sierra, and Scott stopped immediately, the shot showing Sierra and Leshawna being shocked and Scott showing delight as Geoff got launched from one land mine to the next off-screen.
During this, however, a line of spider webbing was shot onto Sierra's leg. It quickly wrapped around it and tugged Sierra away from her team.
The camera finally cut back to Geoff, singed and groaning on the ground in an awkward but still holding the Rats' key. The Maggots approached him moments later. "Sorry that had to happen, doll!" Anne Maria comforted as she ran past Geoff.
Scott and Leshawna came to Geoff's need. "You gonna be alright?" Leshawna helped him up.
"I'll walk it off," Geoff tried to remain cool headed.
"Thanks, focus boy," Scott said.
"I don't want to strain my calves," Geoff added.
"We should leave in a few minutes just to make sure we catch up to the other team," Leshawna said. "Sierra just got captured, and I don't want us sticking around here."

The scene cut to the lantern-lit cemetery. The camera panned left across its headstones and crosses, several of which were pet-themed, to the entrance as the five remaining Mutant Maggots arrived, huffing and puffing from their run.
"Welcome to the Wawanakwa Pet Cemetery!" Chris greeted them over the loudspeaker.
"We're first. Nice!" Dave said.
"What's the clue?" Anne Maria asked Scarlett.
The camera cut in close as she opened the lid to a small coffin in an open grave, revealing a ragged piece of paper within bearing a list of numbers: 5 in the first row; 5 in the second; 5 in the third. Notably, while most of the numbers were plain black there were three 6s and the 18 were all an eye-catching red. "Three 6's is normally not a good indication of luck," Scarlett said with a nervous look.
"Let's fan out and look for numbers!" DJ said as the perspective cut back to its usual sideview.
"By ourselves?" Anne Maria asked.

"I'm in a creepy cemetery in the middle of the woods looking for three 6s. It's no big deal," Anne Maria said warily as she backed through the graveyard. "Good news is, there aren't any owls hooting around. I think I'm safe," she told herself, pausing to smile. "Now, let's see if I can find any numbers..."
She turned around and started examining the nearest headstone, and the shot cut to a view from afar, the footage switching back to infrared. The monster serving as the camera's viewpoint blinked, and when it opened its eyes it had gotten much closer to the jersey girl, and had extended four sharp limbs with tiny claws on the end towards her...
Anne Maria's scream echoed through the cemetery, quickly catching the attention of Katie, DJ, Scarlett, and Dave as they looked up in shock. "Anne Maria?" Dave asked out in concern, the footage quickly skipping ahead to show all four arriving at the location the tanned young lady had been snatched from.
"I could've sworn she was just here," Dave said in confusion.
They all gasped. "Where'd she go?" Katie asked in mild terror.
"I'm just as concerned as you all are," Scarlett started, "but like what happened with Molly, we should move along and hope to catch up with them."
"I know you're trying to be reasonable," DJ said, "but you're rubbing me off the wrong way."
"Yeah, it's like you don't care about what could happen to our teammates," Dave told her.
"I'm just used to not expressing my emotions on occasion," Scarlett told her team members. "Thank you very much."

The scene flashed to the Rats, where Scott and Leshawna were next to grimy coffins propped upright against a couple statues.
"Find the souvenir, hide the souvenir, lose the game…" Scott went in to unlock the coffin, but was interrupted by Fang bursting out of the coffin with a menacing grin.
"AAAAHHHHH!" The devious ran away screaming when Fang moved to chase after him.
Geoff was looking at a grave that was open. "This grave smells like french fries. Weird, but I'm not complaining." He got shoved in thanks to Scott running away from Fang.
The camera followed Scott as he ran past two open graves, one of which with a mound of dirt in front of it.
The mutant shark followed his quarry, but when Scott leapt over the mound of dirt, Fang tripped over it. The shark fell into the open grave and growled.
"Why does this graveyard smell like fries?" Katie wondered aloud, following a scent as she walked through the cemetery. She soon came to the pit Geoff was in. "Maybe it's coming from there."
"Hello? Anybody? I need someone to help me down here!" Geoff called out.
Katie backed away a bit. "Did that hole just talk?"
"It's me. Geoff!" Geoff tried to denounce her belief.
"Oh right," Katie sighed in relief. "You're the guy with the cowboy hat."
"That's right," Geoff confirmed her statement. "I fell down this hole, and I'm covered in grease right now."
"So that explains the smell," Katie realized.
"Can you get me out of here?" Geoff begged her. "Grease doesn't mesh well with my shirt."
"I would, but I have to help my team right now," Katie declined. "One of your teammates could get you out. Bye," she left the scene.
"This sucks," Geoff whined, unaware of four maggots coming by the grave. As soon as they saw the grease and Geoff, they jumped in and attacked him, making him howl in agony.

The scene cut to Chris, who was watching feeds of both teams on a trio of monitors and laughing hysterically. "Will anyone make it to the spooky cave?" he turned and asked the camera, holding a covered cup with a straw in it. "And if so, how can they possibly make it all the way to the finish line? Less brain, more pain, when we return!" he said, finishing with a sip of his drink.

I was at the gym the other day and was approached by someone who said that they were a model scout. I've never been approached by a scout but I have been told to give modeling a try. I never looked into it until now. We talked and turns out this person used to be a photographer for an agency and would also develop/advise the models they worked with as they went on to become more successful and that they were an independent mother agency now. We had a meeting a few days after and they explained more of the industry to me. I even took some notes on the side. They said they would have me join their mother agency It went something like I get all the money I deserve and that they take a cut of whatever the agency that I'm with (in that territory) gets. So if I get say 90% and the agency I signed with gets 10%, they get half of what goes to the agency. They also explained flat rate percentages to me, but I do need more clarification on what that means as in the contract given to me, it says 33.3%. We are extremely pleased that you have decided to engage ---- as your exclusive personal manager and
“Mother Agent” (as that term is commonly used in the industry) on the following terms and conditions:

1. Engagement; Scope of Services. You hereby engage ---- as your sole and exclusive personal manager

WORLDWIDE (the “Territory”) with respect to the development of your career in the professional modeling and
entertainment industry, including, without limitation, photography, advertising, licensing, industrial exhibition,
runway, live show, publishing, television, video, film and any other audio-visual projects, Internet, music and
theatre, social network industries (such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, blogs, etc.), and any and all
services (the “Services”) rendered by you in any such industry. You and ---- agree that the Services provided
and made available to model pursuant to this agreement may be provided by ----’s offices in Seattle. ----
agrees to act as your personal manager and Mother Agent for your Services for the Term. ----Services as
your personal manager and Mother Agent will include:

a. Advising you with respect to (i) personal appearances, composites and your portfolio; (ii) career
opportunities, photographers, licensors, advertisers and other vehicles for your talent; (ii) general practices
in the modeling, licensing, advertising, entertainment, film, video, television and music industries;
b. Arranging your schedule;
c. Supervising your publicity, public relations and advertising.
d. Aiding in the negotiation of the terms and conditions of the Services you may provide to clients; and
e. Sending invoices and statements to, and collecting compensation and expenses from, clients that engage
you to perform your Services.

1. Exclusivity. You agree not to employ any representatives, managers or agents in the Territory during the Term

other than ---- concerning any aspect of your career or the performance of Services by you without our prior
consent. Further, you shall not accept any assignments, opportunities or agreements in the Territory for the
performance of your Services except those selected by ---- and will forward to ---- all inquiries and offers
made directly to you for your Services.

1. Term. The initial term (the “Initial Term”) of this Agreement shall be for a three (3) year period commencing on

the date set forth above. The term of this Agreement shall automatically renew for successive one (1) year periods
unless you provide written notice to ---- at least ninety (90) days prior to the end of the Initial Term or any
successive period. In the event that this Agreement has been signed on your behalf by your parent and/or guardian,
you agree that the three-year term shall be automatically extended and shall run from the date of your eighteenth
(18th) birthday, unless you or your parent and/or guardian legal provide written notice to ---- within ninety (90)
days of turning eighteen. The Initial Term and any extensions thereof shall be referred to herein as the “Term”.

1. Relationship of the Parties. Your relationship with ---- is that of an independent contractor, and nothing in

this Agreement is intended to, or should be construed to, create a partnership, agency, joint venture or employment
relationship. Accordingly, you shall be responsible for (a) your own expenses (unless paid by a client of your
Services), such as travel, lodging, entertaining, wardrobe and make-up, (b) preparing and filing your personal tax
returns and paying all taxes required to be paid, and (c) complying with all the governmental laws, rules and
regulations pertaining to your performance of Services, including, without limitation, obtaining any applicable visas.
Further, you acknowledge and agree that ---- is acting solely as your personal manager and Mother Agent, that
---- is not licensed as an employment agency under the General Business Law of the State of Washington or as
an “artists manager” under the Labor Code of the State of Washington. ---- does not control the terms and
conditions of your Modeling Services regardless of whether ---- negotiates your agreements regarding such
Modeling Services. To the extent any such supervision and control exists, such supervision and control relates solely
to any relationship between you and any of your clients or customers that engage you for the Modeling Services.
---- shall provide and make available advice regarding the terms and conditions of your Modeling Services to
your clients and customers. ---- will notify you of offers for Model’s Modeling Services that come to its
attention. All of your activities will be at your own risk and you are hereby given notice of your responsibility for
arrangements to guard against physical, financial and other risks, as appropriate.

1. Authority as Exclusive Personal Manager and Mother Agent; Power of Attorney.

a. ---- is hereby authorized, as your exclusive personal manager and Mother Agent to act for you, and on
your behalf, during the Term with respect to: (i) negotiating, renegotiating, contracting and executing for
you and in your name and on your behalf any and all agreements, documents and instruments providing for
your Services to clients pursuant hereto, subject to your prior approval; (ii) approving and permitting the
use of your name, biography, image, voice, caricatures and the like for the purposes of advertising and
publicity, subject to your prior approval; (iii) invoicing, collecting and receiving sums payable to you,
endorsing your name upon and depositing in our account all checks payable to you, and retaining therefrom
all sums owing to ----; and (iv) demanding, suing for and collecting, all claims, money, interest and
other items that may be due to you or belong to you, and settling any and all such claims (which settlement
may be at par or below par).
b. You hereby authorize and appoint ---- to be your agent and attorney-in-fact for the purpose of set forth
in subparagraph (a) above. This appointment of ---- as your attorney-in-fact shall be irrevocable during
the Term and thereafter until you have rendered all Services contracted for during the Term and have
collected full payment for such Services.
c. Without limitation to any other rights grated to ---- hereunder, ---- shall have the right and license
to use your name, likeness, voice and any other personal attributes in and connection with the advertising,
promotion, and marketing of your Services, talents and activities related to your work, in any and all media
now and hereafter known.

a. Except as set forth in subparagraphs (b and c) below, you agree to pay to ---- a fee (the “Regular Fee”)
equal to twenty percent (20%) of your Gross Compensation earned for (i) any Services performed by you
during the Term; or (ii) any Services performed by you after the expiration or termination of this
Agreement if such Services were performed pursuant to any booking, engagement, license, or similar
agreement negotiated, solicited and/or accepted during the Term or pursuant to a renewal, option or
renegotiation (each, a “Renewal”) of any booking, engagement, license, or similar agreement initially
negotiated, solicited and/or accepted during the Term. “Gross Compensation” shall include compensation
from all sources, including salaries, license fees, other fees, earnings, royalties, residuals, proceeds,
buyouts, bonuses, prizes or other compensation received at any time pursuant to the performance of
Services by you. You hereby understand and agree that since ---- is you Mother Agent, it shall be
entitled to receive a fee for its Services as your mother agency, which fee shall be payable by other model
management or agency companies that you engage throughout the world at ----’s direction.
b. You agree to pay ---- thirty three point thirty three percent (33.33%) on all flat rate jobs where the
client’s agency commission is included in the model quote.
c. You agree to pay to ----, a franchised agent of SAG and AFTRA, a fee (the “Union Fee”, and, together
with the Regular Fee, the “Fee”) equal to ten percent (10%) of all Gross Compensation earned for the
performance of Services by you that are subject to the jurisdiction of the Screen Actors Guild (“SAG”), the
American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (“AFTRA”).
d. You understand that ---- is entitled to receive from any and all clients that engage your Services a
service charge, agency fee or other compensation (the “Client Fee”) over and above the fees set forth in
subparagraphs (a) and (b) above. You acknowledge that the Client Fee is an additional inducement for
---- to act on your behalf and you shall not have the right to, or interest in, the Client Fee. Further, you
understand that ---- maintains a network of relationships with agencies worldwide, including, without
limitation, with your mother agent. You acknowledge that, from time to time, ---- may be required to
pay such other agencies (including, without limitation, your Mother Agent) a commission and that ----
and such agencies may agree to divide the compensation
e. that you are required to pay ---- and such other agencies.
f. In consideration for the Services rendered by---- during the Term to develop and promote your career,
you agree that in the event you wish to cease being represented by ---- prior to the expiration of the
Term, and ---- agrees in writing to release you from your obligations contained herein, you shall cause
your new management company to pay to ---- an amount (the “Post-Term Fee”) equal to ten percent
(10%) of your Gross Compensation for the balance of the Term. If you do not cause such payment to be
made by your new ---- company, you shall be obligated to pay ---- the Post-Term Fee yourself.
Such Post-Term Fee shall not be paid with respect to Renewals, for which ---- shall be paid its fee in
accordance with subparagraphs (a), (b) and (c) above.

1. Expenses; Advances. ---- may, in its sole discretion and from time to time, advance or loan money

(collectively, the “Advances”) to you in connection with your performance of Services, including, without
limitation, advances of compensation payable to you and expenses necessary to render your Services(e.g., publicity
and promotional costs, airfare and hotel expenses, rental expenses, messenger Services, language lessons and
shipping expenses). You authorize ---- to deduct any outstanding Advances from any Receivable (as defined
below) prior to remitting such amounts to you. If you receive compensation directly from a client or another source
with respect to the performance of your Services, you agree to immediately pay to ---- an amount equal to any
unpaid Advances. You agree and understand that ---- will not release any modeling materials in its possession
and you will not be permitted to commence representation by another model management company until you repay
any outstanding Advances or otherwise make provisions acceptable to ---- for the repayment of such Advances
by such new model ---- company.

1. Collections, Statements & Accounting.

a. ---- shall use commercially reasonable efforts to collect all amounts (including, without limitation,
compensation and expenses) due to you from clients with respect to the performance of Services by you
(any and all amounts actually received by ---- shall be collectively referred to herein as, the
“Receivables”) pursuant to signed vouchers submitted by you to ----. ---- may, but shall not be
obligated to, commence legal proceedings or hire a collection agency to collect amounts due to you from
clients. In the event that ---- commences such proceedings or hires a collection agency, you shall bear
any and all related expenses and such amounts shall be deemed “Advances”. As set forth above, ----
shall have full authority to settle at or below par any and all disputes with clients on your behalf.

b. ---- will periodically provide to you an amount equal to the Receivables less any amounts owed to
----, including, without limitation, any Fees owed to ----, any and all unpaid Advances; any Client
Fee paid to you, any taxes required to be deducted and any other amounts permitted to be deducted
pursuant to ----’s standard accounting procedures. In addition to such amount, ---- will provide
you with a statement of your account, including, amounts collected by ---- and any deductions
permitted pursuant to this Agreement.
c. In the event that you receive any payments directly from a client, you will remit any outstanding Fee,
Client Fee or Advance related to such client to ---- within seven (7) days of your receipt of such
payment.

1. Expiration or Termination. Upon the expiration or termination of this Agreement, you shall immediately

reimburse ---- for any outstanding Advances or other expenditures made by ---- on your behalf; you shall
immediately remit to ---- any unpaid Fee. As long as any amounts owed by you to ---- are outstanding, you
shall cause any future agency or client to pay any amounts owed to you directly to ---- in settlement of such
debts.
a. ---- may terminate this agreement immediately upon notice if such termination is “for cause”. For
purposes of this Agreement, “for cause” shall mean (i) your material breach of this agreement, (ii) material
breach of any agreement with a third part related to your work. (iii) dishonesty in dealings with ----,
and/or (iv) willful violation of any law, rule, or regulation (other than traffic violations or similar offenses)
or any final cease and desist order. Any notice of termination hereunder shall be in writing.

1. Suspension.

a. Your Services, the running of the Term and the payment of any compensation hereunder, shall be
automatically suspended without notice (and any subsequent dates herein specified thereby postponed),
upon the happening of a Default and/or Disability and defined below. Each suspension shall continue until
ended by ---- by written notice
b. to you and the Term shall resume upon delivery of such notice. No such suspension shall affect any of
----’s other rights hereunder.
c. “Default” shall mean any failure by you (other than by reason of Disability) to perform the Services.
d. “Disability” shall mean your inability to perform the Services because of your physical, mental or
emotional disability, illness, injury or death.

1. Representations and Warranties. You represent and warrant that (i) you have the full authority and power to

enter into this Agreement; (ii) you are not subject or party to any oral or written agreement that would interfere with
----’s rights pursuant to, or your ability to perform and carry out, this Agreement, including, without limitation,
any agreements for employment or ---- Services; (iii) you have, or will acquire, any and all permissions and
approvals required by law to perform the Services; and (iv) any information you provided to ---- is true, correct
and complete.

1. Indemnification. You agree to indemnify and hold ---- and its agents, employees, officer, directors,

members and representatives harmless (including attorneys’ fees) from and against any claims, liability, judgments
costs and expenses arising out of (i) your failure to fulfill your obligation hereunder or any engagements or
employment contracts obtained in connection with this Agreement; and/or (ii) any breach of any representation or
warranty
contained in this Agreement.

1. Minor Provisions. If applicable, you acknowledge that it is your sole responsibility to obtain all necessary

governmental consents, permits and approvals required by state and federal laws and regulations for the
performance of Services hereunder by minors, including, without limitation, work permits, visas, and court
approvals where necessary. At your request, ---- will guide and counsel you with respect to obtaining such
consents, permits, visas and approvals.

1. Damages, Remedies, Venue and Waivers. Your sole remedy against ---- for loss or damage arising out of

the performance or any non-performance under this Agreement shall be proven direct, actual damages. ---- shall
not be liable for any indirect, incidental, reliance, special, punitive, or consequential damages arising out of its
performance or non-performance under this Agreement, whether or not ---- had been advised of the possibility
of such damages. In the event of a breach of this Agreement, the non-breaching party shall give written notice to the
breaching party of the circumstances of the breach and shall provide, if feasible, at least 14 days within which the
alleged breaching party may cure such breach. Such notice, and any other notices pursuant to this Agreement, shall
be provided to ---- and Model at the respective addresses designated below.
a. In addition to the foregoing provisions regarding “Damages, Remedies,” either party may. at any time,
initiate a non-binding mediation procedure (of no longer than three (3) hours duration, unless agreed to the

contrary by the parties in writing), utilizing the Services of JAMS, Inc., to try to resolve any dispute
regarding the interpretation of, or the parties’ obligations under, this Agreement, it being understood and
agreed, 1) that each party shall be obligated to pay half of the mediator’s fees, 2) that both parties will pay
their own attorneys’ fees and costs, and 3) that the other provisions herein regarding “Damages/Remedies”
are not obviated by this provision allowing for mediation.
THE PARTIES HEREBY WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL IN ANY ACTION COMMENCED
RELATING TO THIS AGREEMENT, AND MODEL HEREBY WAIVES THE RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN
ANY CLASS ACTION WHICH MAY BE COMMENCED AGAINST ---- RELATING TO THIS
AGREEMENT OR ----’S SERVICESHEREUNDER.

1. Miscellaneous.

a. Further Assurances. You shall execute and deliver such additional documents, provide such additional
information and take all other actions as may reasonably be necessary or desirable to carry out the terms of
this Agreement and facilitate the rights granted to ---- herein.
b. Notices. All notices, statements and other documents required to be given pursuant to this Agreement shall
be given in writing either by personal delivery, pre-paid first class or express mail or recognized
international courier at the respective addresses of the parties set forth in this Agreement, or such other
addresses as may be designated in writing by either party.
c. Assignment. You understand that this Agreement is personal to you and shall be binding and enforceable
against you and may not be assigned by you. ---- shall not assign this Agreement to any person or
entity without your prior written approval; provided, that ---- may assign this Agreement without your
consent to (i) any person
d. or entity controlled by, controlling or under common control with ----, or (ii) in the event of a merger,
reorganization or sale of all or substantially all of such party’s assets or voting securities.
e. Amendment and Waiver; Entire Agreement; Severability. The terms and conditions of this Agreement
may not be amended, modified, superseded or waived except in writing signed by you and ----. This
Agreement confirms the parties’ full understanding as to the subject matter hereof there are no other
expressed or implied promises or representations being offered. If any part of this Agreement is or becomes
invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the validity, legality and enforceability of the remainder of this Agreement
shall not be affected.
f. Governing Law; Jurisdiction. This Agreement will be governed by the laws of the State of Washington
exclusive of conflicts of law principles. Any action commenced relating to this Agreement shall be
commenced in the Federal or state courts of Washington, as appropriate, in King County. ---- has
advised you that this is an important legal document, and ---- has encouraged you to seek advice or
counsel from an advisor of your choice, including an attorney and/or tax professional, with respect to the
terms and conditions herein. ---- has provided you with enough time to review this Agreement prior to
executing it and to consult an advisor(s) of Model’s choice with respect to its terms and conditions.]

My problem here is the part about social media. Regarding anything I do in entertainment such as instagram, tumblr etc. Also the fees as the wording is a little tough. I'm getting this contract reviewed by others but my mom thinks this is some sort of "Slave Drive Contract" which is used in the K-pop industry. I'm also 21 years old and being asked to model isn't new to me. The person who gave this to me does have a legitimate background in the modelling industry. They do seem new to being an independent manageagent but have shown me some proof of success.

A dark planet turned slowly in the void bathed in the light of an old yellow star far past its prime. The planet was old, unlike the countless beings that scurried across its blasted surface. From the vantage point of space far above, the gigantic craters that covered its surface were painfully apparent. Some terrible bombardment had nearly torn the planet in two sometime in its ancient history.
These were the thoughts foremost on the mind of the vast entity that observed the world from the depths of a large misshapen ship of truly gargantuan proportions. The ship orbited the planet far enough away to be unseen, a truly difficult task due to its almost moon-like size.
Deep in the ship’s core, a consciousness woke fully. This being had slumbered for millennia as they waited for the ship’s more automated systems to bring them to something interesting. As they awoke this entity checked the ships logs, two thousand years of reports were absorbed and compiled in mere millincrements such was the being’s incredible processing power.
They stretched mentally, running their consciousness throughout every lesser ten of the ship's millions of greater tens of circuits and wires. It had been centuries since they had last woken for more than a few increments, it was a good feeling.
The ship’s computer communicated with them. “Master Neel, It is good to have you with us.” the computer said nonverbally. The communication happening instead as a base impression across his many connections to the system all at once.
Neel observed the planet remotely using some of the vast worldship's many external sensors. After a few moments of observation Neel inquired the computer. “Have we traveled to this planet before?”
The computer replied quickly “I do not believe so, it bears passing resemblance to a planet we visited in the far past. But it can't be the same planet.” the computer concluded.
Neel frowned and then decided to exit his stasis chamber. The heavily shielded inner sanctum of the ship was a mess of electrical conduits and databanks that held his vast intellect when the ship was underway. Using faster than light means of propulsion could damage many of the curiosities in his vast collection and so for many tens of millions of greater increments he had traveled the cosmos slower than the speed of light.
While slow it was a deliberate action to protect him from the watchful eyes of the obliterators. The destroyers commonly kept watch over the cosmos and were known to eliminate those they could not contain or control. Neel had no wish to be destroyed and so took their time getting around for the sake of stealth. Even the destroyers would be unlikely to detect a single ship not breaking the natural laws in a vast and ever expanding universe.
Disengaging their mental locks, Neel disconnected from the artificial sanctuary and into their physical vessel. Their vessel was an artificial body of sorts, fashioned in a form that Neel found pleasing.
Their vessel was very tall with six manipulating tentacle-like metal arms and a multitude of pointed insect-like legs. Their face was a mess of tubes and wires with no discernible features other than the five bright green glowing eyes that stared out at the world around them intensely.
Neel’s consciousness settled down into the large body like it was a comfortable bed, an electronic sigh passing through them as they disconnected from the ship.
Neel started their vessel’s internal vacuum generators. Devices of their own design that drew electrical power directly from the quantum fluctuations of the universe. Quite a simple thing really, they must seem remarkable to those not nearly as versed as them in the nature of the universe. But Neel was well versed indeed, they knew the purpose of it all, and the dark knowledge often made them wish they had never discovered it.
Turning their attention back to their muted surroundings Neel activated the bridge’s lights with a thought. The ship was a part of them, though simultaneously separate. Together they made a complete entity, though Neel admitted that it was sometimes less distracting to be on their own instead of bonded to the Preserver. That was the name he had chosen for his worldship upon its completion. He had no memories of the event, or of how it had been built. Neither did the Preserver, instead Neel’s earliest coherent memory was that of light. Blinding light.
A star exploding and the ship jumping into emergency compression drive to escape the blast. They had arrived many light years away damaged and broken from the violent energies that had lashed the ship. But they had survived.
Neel scuttled across the deck and to one of the automated steering consoles. They double checked the ship’s course for accuracy and were satisfied to see no inherent issues.
Next they walked though the ship for a time to get to the records hall. They could have zipped there almost instantly with a thought, but they had always enjoyed the action of taking their time. They had a nearly infinite amount of it after all.
The Preserver chimed at them as they walked. “If you are going to the records hall to check the data I can give you access here and save you the trouble Master Neel.” The disembodied voice said in a modulated tone and frequency.
Neel waved a series of arms towards one of the many wall mounted sensors that the ship used to see and replied “Why? What would be the purpose of walking if not to enjoy the walk. I know you could have forwarded the data to me directly on the bridge, but there is a simplistic pleasure to taking one’s time. How many times have I told you that old friend.”
The ship was silent for a few increments as Neel scuttled down dimly lit metal passageways and through dusty hatches. They shook their head in a strange yet familiar motion as they took in the state of the ship. It was dirty, grimy almost.
Neel paused by a strange bundle of filaments and tested them with a single flexible manipulator digit. Plucking them curiously Neel found they seemed to be organic. In fact as they touched them they noticed a small and curious creature skuttle out of the dark in the direction of the disturbance. Delighted at this new and fascinating discovery they coaxed the small creature out into the light.
They observed it closely, zooming in on its features while scanning it in multiple electromagnetic spectrums. Neel found that the creature seemed to fluoresce in the ultraviolet spectrum, its small body covered in swirling organic patterns. It must be able to see into the ultraviolet spectrum Neel mused, otherwise what possible purpose could such patterning serve?
Reaching into a recess in their body they produced a specimen stasis capsule. Carefully scooping up the creature, they activated the micro stasis field generator and the small curiosity seemed to freeze in place. Replacing the container they then turned and continued along the corridor making a mental note to return and analyze the filaments more closely at a future time.
It took a little longer than Neel remembered to reach the great library, which made sense as the Preserver was constantly in flux. They entered the room and slowed to a halt. It always hit them when they entered into the massive space for the first time after a lengthy hibernation. The room was lit with bright yellowish lights high in the cavernous ceiling. The walls were covered in shelves and databanks, not a single square length was bare of some form of data storage medium.
Neel walked in amongst the towering shelves and ran their fingers along the uncountable thousands of books, manuscripts, scrolls and data crystals stored within small stasis cabinets. Hidden inside this sanctum was Neel’s life’s work, the compiled data of tens of thousands of worlds, millions of species and a billion years of searching the universe for something more.
Sometimes when the ship was traveling the void between stars Neel would come and spend years here, just absorbing the ancient knowledge. But today they were looking for something specific. Moving along to one of the many wall mounted dataports, they inserted a spike like digit from the end of a flexible tendril. The full enormity of the vast library exploded into their conscious mind, only their prodigious intelligence keeping them from being overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of data.
Searching for a while they found the folder they were looking for and accessed its location. Neel was in luck, it was remote accessible meaning they wouldn't have to traverse kilometers of this labyrinth to find the data. While that was usually an enjoyable experience, Neel found that their curiosity was overwhelming their patience.
The data filled their mind and Neel saw a planet spinning tranquilly in their mind's eye. The planet that bore a striking similarity to the one they now orbited, in fact, comparing the star logs and accounting for drift, the constellations were the same too. That proved it, they were in fact in the orbit of Ixninth, the evolutionary homeworld of the peaceful humbub.
Neel cocked their head, that was odd. The last time they had been in contact with the humbub their planet was nearing a full scale type one civilization. Full planetary control was theirs and they had taken the first tentative steps out into their solar system with a few far flung colonies and outposts in the orbit of the outer planets.
Now there was nothing, no evidence of the star realm they had once ruled. Something must have happened while Neel had been traveling through the cosmos. Something no doubt related to the strange crater-like formations on the planet’s surface.
Neel scanned the other planets in the system and found that most bore evidence of similar impacts, a few of the smaller moons seemed to have been obliterated entirely. Just the drifting charred remains in orbit of their scarred planets.
They addressed the computer once more verbally. “Preserver, we have indeed visited this system before. It is the humbub’s home system.”
The ship spoke through their implant, the disembodied voice cool and calm while it discussed topics of annihilation. “It would seem some sort of natural cataclysm must have befallen them then. There is evidence of incredible kinetic bombardment. Perhaps a rogue black hole disrupted the outer debris fields?’ the computer speculated blandly.
Neel looked back to the images of the systems battered planets. “I believe something terrible has happened here, are you sure there is no evidence of foul play? No signs of void conflict?”
They began to walk out of the library and towards the main atrium. The Preserver asked “Are you telling me to scan for debris or asking if I had already done so?”
Neel paused and apologised “Yes, I am sorry old friend. You have of course anticipated my question and scanned the area for wreckage. I can postulate based on your silence that you did not find any evidence to support the claim?”
Neel started walking again as the ship confirmed their observation. “I will of course continue to scan the area in case of potential hostile threats, but I do not expect to find anything of note. It looks like the act of a hostile universe, not the acts of barbaric lifeforms.”
Neel nodded again, this time entirely for their own benefit. That is about what they had been expecting anyways, if the growing theory in their mind was correct then they would likely find no evidence of foul play at all. At least, not in the conventional sense.
Perking up a little their green eyes shone bright as a new idea struck them. “Preserver, scan the main planet. Look for any signs of technology or ruins of technology. I will get to the bottom of this situation one way or another.”
The computer replied “Already started when it became clear to me you were set on this investigative action. I can report with ninety five percent certainty that there are no technological ruins on the planet. There is a large and well preserved ruin in the upper hemisphere. Would you like a scope on it?”
Neel waved at the air and replied “Yes, yes of course. Let me see what you have found.”
In their mind they saw the feed from one of the massive ship’s many outward facing telescopes. On the current one they saw it swivel towards the planet. Enhancing the image it zoomed in until Neel could almost count each blade of grass on the ground. In front of their very eyes was a large collection of half buried structures. While they did not look technological in origin, any clue to a history undiscovered was a good clue.
“Good work my friend, I will have to make sure we pull a flyby on a blue hypergiant giant so you can recharge your entanglement drives. You earned it.” They spoke to the Preserver in fondness.
The ship answered in a much more subdued manner “That would be appreciated Neel. My compression generators have been a bit chilly of late. I assume you will want to venture to the surface personally? May I suggest an assortment of weapons?”
Neel waved a hand as they entered the vast and colorful main atrium. It was only a few kilometers from the bridge, but it was a sight well worth the walk. That coupled with the fact that it connected directly to the small hangar bay where the many parasite ships were stored.
Neel walked across the room to the hangar and entered one of the small single occupant shuttles. The Preserver spoke once more in their mind. “If you are intent on going down to the surface would you at least let me launch an orbital observation platform to assist you?”
Neel paused at the controls and then said “Yes, might as well. You never know what’s going to happen in the future, that's what makes living in the present so exciting.”

Jrax woke with a satisfied stretch, today was the day. He had been busy excavating the ruins of the forbidden zone in secret for almost a full year now. Only Zieve knew he was here, and the young man was unlikely to turn him in as he was just as interested in the mysteries of the ancients as he was.
Jrax stood to his feet and twisted at the waist in a futile attempt to crack his lower back. Unsuccessful he looked around, he couldn't see Zieve anywhere, usually the young man was out here before he had even had a chance for his morning zalv. The comforting warmth of a fresh cup of the dark orange liquid was a better wake up than anything else he had yet to discover. He had shown the benefits of drinking fresh zalv to a few of his colleges but it had yet to fully take off. Something about the dried and powdered fruit gave him a zest for life and alertness that was addictive in its effectiveness, and a little addictive in general.
But that was not the important reason he was here. He put a small pot of the mixture on the boil as he pulled his notebook out of his waist pouch. The small leather bound manuscript contained everything he knew of the ancients and their strange ways of life.
According to the few tablets and inscriptions he had so far recovered, the ancients lived in the void and traveled this strange realm of nonexistence in vast ships of solid metal. Why they would have needed to be made of metal made no sense to him. Surely wood would have been much lighter and cheaper? Maybe it was a style thing, from what he could gather the ancients made almost everything out of metal. Such was their vast power and wealth they were able to extract metal from the void itself.
This had always sat ill with him, everyone knew of the void, the space outside of reality. But surely they couldn't do such things as the void was empty, wasn't it? Perhaps the great teachings warning of the demons that lurked in the void were false after all. It was said that the void used to be full of life, an infinite world to build upon. One day the demons had come from beyond the realms of the humbub and devoured all that existed without till at last they rained fire and death upon Ixninth. The celestial realms of the humbub had been reduced to ashes and the survivors fled their metal cities in terror as they were consumed by the angry earth.
He shook his head. The mythos of their people was a fractured thing, handed down largely through word of mouth by millennia of terrified priests who had no real understanding of what they should be so afraid of.
He knew, it had been a hard truth to swallow but in his studies of the forbidden ruins he had made discoveries. Discoveries like the identity of their ancient destroyers.
They were not demons at all, they just looked like them, their bodies twisted and monstrous, their hunger for destruction nearly insatiable. They killed for fun and destroyed the remains, the fact that they hadn't killed all of the ancients was a miracle likely attributed to the paranoia of certain individuals. Places like these ruins had been ancient refuges to them, structures buried far into the guts of the mother earth called bunkers. An affront on nature, but necessary for the survival of their race.
It had taken thousands of years from what he had been able to gather before the planet was once more survivable on the surface. They left their ancient bunkers and found that all that once had been was no more. They had begun again.
Jrax was happy to be alive, especially knowing some of the struggle that his ancestors must have gone through just to survive. He put thoughts of such things out of mind and busied himself combing his fur. It wouldn't do to get mangey knots from a lack of self attention, he was a respectable scholar afterall.
His snout crinkled in a small snarl as he thought of Primo Haxix, the premiere leader of the Church of Brox in his home city of Broxix. The man was a devout follower of Brox’s teachings, and his most severe hurtle to spreading the truth of things. The closeminded man refused to see reason.
Done with his morning grooming he pulled on his open fronted work shirt, the rough fabric a little itchy against his fur but necessary to protect him from biting insects and the sun. It was hot near the ruins, the lack of vegetation one of the reasons the Primo called the land cursed. From what he had found it was no more cursed than any other piece of land, it had something to do with things called water concentrators he had discovered. He didn't understand the concept fully, but it seemed that the area was perpetually dry like the Neeix Desert to the south. A strange concept but it certainly explained why nothing would grow there.
Putting on his sandals and grabbing his excavation kit he slung the bag over his shoulder and started out of camp. He dodged around and through a thick copse of trees, his camp hidden from view in order to protect it from fanatics and the church’s spies. The area around the ruins was constantly under surveillance, he had been spotted a few times and chased but luckily his identity had never been uncovered.
He checked that the coast was clear and then made a quick transition to the bushes a few dozen feet away. Sighing as he didnt hear the telltale sounds of pursuit he continued on. The pack was heavy but he was undeterred.
Normally traveling alone into the wilderness would be tantamount to suicide, the many ferocious predators of their homeworld converging on a lone individual, but he was unafraid. The ruins protected him, some sort of aura seemed to surround the area that deterred the predators from approaching. He had read of it on the inscriptions, it was called a protection grid in the ancient texts that adorned the walls of the ruin, but he had yet to truly parse what it meant.
Whatever it was he was grateful for it as it allowed him to work in peace without constantly having to watch his back against attack from the abominations the demons had left behind.
He walked along the narrow and hidden path he had forged through the dense undergrowth towards the ruins. He shook his furred head, Zeive was probably already there. The young man was always excited to help him make some new discovery or ancient find. Yes, there was nothing to worry about.
Almost as soon as he told himself that he had nothing to worry about he tripped and landed hard on the soft sandy soil. Crawling to his feet he heard the unmistakable sounds of clanking armour plates and was soon surrounded by church soldiers. Resplendent in their brown leather greatcoats and shining steel breastplates.
“Oh..” Was all he said, a plethora of steel spear points at his throat.
Another sound met his ears and he looked behind him. From the path he watched a magnificently maned man stroll towards him, crimson cloak over his brushed leather overcoat covered in fine gold buckles. It was Primo Haxix, his biggest detractor and the most powerful person in all of Broxix.
Primo Haxix strode to him and laughed, a thoroughly nasty sound, devoid of mirth or joy. “Wow, I knew it had to have been an ignorant son of a demon to have crossed into the forbidden zone. But you? You have got to be the dumbest intellectual I have ever met. Clap him in irons, bring him to the fortress of Brox.” The ostentatious humbub then strode away regally as if they cared no more for his welfare, and they likely didn't. Jrax heard the unmistakable sound of a frourn drawn carriage, likely to carry the Primo’s lazy ass back to the capital.
One of the soldiers produced a set of iron clamps which they applied to his wrists, the metal pinching his arm hair painfully and he chirped in discomfort.
“Follow me or I will make you follow.” The man said gruffly.
Jrax did as he was told. No reason to get a beating on top of his arrest.
The soldiers led him through the brush and out to the main roadway. The road was simple hard packed earth, but it served its purpose. Leading right to the edge of the forbidden zone.
He snorted as they led him back along the road towards Broxix. It was a large city, almost fifty thousand inhabitants lived and died within an afternoon’s hike of the ruins and yet they knew nothing of their own history. The Church taught that the demons had destroyed their ancestors and all they had built before Brox took them into the belly of Ixninth for their protection. But that wasn't entirely true. It wasn't the whole truth in any event, and in Jrax’s opinion that was tantamount to lying.
They marched for an hour before the leader of the troop called a halt near a small roadside inn that catered to pilgrims. He looked at Jrax and said gruffly “We are stooping for refreshment, would you like some water?”
Jrax nodded suspiciously and the man gestured to a few of the others to go into the building.
Jrax watched as the trio of so-called holy soldiers kicked the door open and rushed in, swords drawn. Screaming and the sound of crashing furniture could be heard and Jrax chirped angrily but was kept from remarking by a threatening glare from the troop leader.
After a few more minutes of this the sounds ceased and the three soldiers exited carrying food and wine as well as a small bladder of water.
The wine and dried meat morsels were shared about as the troop leader approached with the water and stopped. Staring at Jrax, the man proceeded to unstop the bladder and pour its contents into the dirt as his feet.
When the skin had been completely emptied the troop leader laughed curly and gestured at the small mud puddle. There you go blasphemer, drink up.
A chorus of nasty chuckles sounded from all about as Jrax just stood his ground.
The leader stopped laughing, his face turning from savage mirth to rage as he drew his sword and pointed it at Jrax’s throat.
“I said drink! Do it now or so help me Brox I’ll…” the large armoured man started to say but Jrax cut him off smugly.
“Or you will what? You can’t kill me or you would have already. No, Primo Haxix wants my punishment to be public.” Jrax spat. “He wouldn't let a little pissant like you take his triumph away from him, so no. I will not drink, nor will I eat unless it is something tasty and nutritious. I would rather starve than allow such ignorant fools to debase me.” he said with a smug chortle.
The now enraged troop leader drew his sword in a threatening manner and Jrax felt his knees shake slightly in fear. But he stood tall and firm, not allowing his terror to show on his face. He would show these zealous assholes what it meant to truly serve a higher purpose, even if it meant he would die anyways.
The leader lowered his weapon and sneered. “Let's see how smug you are when we take you to the chamber of repentance. We will see who gets the last laugh.” the man said angrily. “Okay, form up and move out you lazy sons of snurlg. We need to reach the Fortress of Broxix by mid afternoon.”
Jrax was shoved by one of the soldiers behind him who growled “Get moving scum.”
He shook his head sadly, the road was long and the sun was high. But he would walk with shoulders straight and head held high, for he knew his cause was just.

At the start of the year we moved to a house that has a log cabin / garden office in it that looks remarkably similar to this one.
The tongue & groove beams are 48mm deep, double glazing windows, with 2"x4" support beams running from front to back for the roofing planks to lay on, with roofing felt on top.
Now we have some sun beating down onto the roof it's making the room unbearable to work in. What's the best way of blocking the heat being transmitted into the room?

We have hikers in SoCal, the Sierra, NorCal, and even some in Washington :) I hope everyone is having fun out there (Type 1 & 2), wherever you may be!
General PSA: I have noticed that some people are signing up to be included on this list because they are hiking the trail this year. That's great! However, if you did not provide any social media links for me to follow you (public or private), you will not be included in weekly updates because I have no way of knowing where you are. Think less "Trail Register" and more "Observe and Report." Happy trails nonetheless!!

It had been a long day, and I settled into the bed uneasily. It was softer than I had expected, to the point that it almost felt like floating directly in a sea of cotton. Contrasted against the rough edges of the hammock I'd been sleeping on for the last few weeks, it was almost impossible to fade into what passed for sleep these days. The Soul Dream had begun, and I wouldn't be able to rest easily again until I found my soulmate. After a few more minutes of tossing and turning, I managed to get into an angle that didn't offend my subconscious, and my thoughts eased into dreams.
I'd seen the beach many times. Littered with bodies and wooden shrapnel, I had deduced that the site was one of a shipwreck, and not a particularly pleasant one. I wandered the site, rain pouring from the heavens as though the gods themselves were bailing out their own sinking ship. The clap of thunder rang out, and despite knowing in the back of my mind that the sound wasn't actually real, my ears still ached. Though the thunder only struck on occasion, the howling shriek of the wind and the pounding of the rain was constant.
I wandered the beach, noting boxes and chests that could potentially hold treasure, but they were for another day. Right now I was looking for a person, among the dozens of bodies scattered in the surf and on the beach. There she was, I'd recognize that frock of blonde hair anywhere. The young woman was hunched over a piece of wreckage, coughing as I approached. I heard that loud shriek tear through the wind, and saw the massive tentacled creature rise from the inky black water in the distance, directly under the shimmering full moon that shone through a part in the clouds.
Then I woke up. As was the case with the Soul Dream, you never got to see your soulmate's face, nor to exchange any word with them. That was for the actual meeting, the dream just gave you the directions to get there, and these directions didn't exactly make me excited for that meeting. Still, I was awake, and needed to face the day. The full moon was tonight, and I was damn sure that whatever came after I made eye contact with my soulmate was something I'd need to prepare for.
The meeting was going to be tricky enough on its own, so I needed to be in top shape. I checked my face in the mirror. Nope, that cut on my face was still there, and it was definitely going to leave a scar. One of my legs was still stiff from the sprain I'd gotten, though the injury itself was dealt with. I dearly hoped that I'd still be able to run away in time, fleeing a massive monster with another person in tow would be enough of a feat without a twisted ankle.
Still, I donned my doublet and trousers, affixed the scabbard with my sword, and checked my pistol. Six rounds, same as ever, fully loaded. As I headed down to the tavern, the innkeeper greeted me.
"Captain! Lovely to see you, up and about!" she said. "Awful late, ain't it? I thought you were heading out to meet your bride-to-be, not a lady of the night!"
"Perhaps, but romance doesn't set just because the sun has," I said. "Speaking of, where is my no good crew?"
I stomped along the hall, pounding on the doors of the rooms my crewmen had occupied.
"Up, you scurvy dogs! We've got a schedule to keep!" I shouted.
"Oh come now, lad! You seem like the rowdy sort, but I doubt you'll need a whole crew to win over your destined lover!" the inkeeper said.
I kept pounding on doors, until my first mate and several of my crewmen exited their quarters.
"We're up, Captain..." First Mate Leslie said.
"Good, grab your gear, the rain's bound to start any second," I said.
"Well, since you're up, make sure to grab some dinner before you go. My wife worked hard on it, so be sure to be appreciative!" the innkeeper said.
Almost the moment she stopped speaking, the pitter-patter of rain started battering the roof of the inn.
"No time, Ma'am. If we're still alive in an hour, we'll join you then!" I said.
Leslie and the crewmen followed me outside, and we ran to the hill outside of town. We'd hauled our ship onto the shore to keep it out of danger during the storm, and moved the cannons and mortars here to prepare for the fight we were confident would be coming. I hoped we wouldn't have to fight, but I wasn't dumb enough to count on that.
The rain poured down like hailstones, drenching and battering my crewmen. After half an hour, Leslie turned to me.
"Captain, are you sure this is the right place? And the right time? I'm not seeing any blonde women out here," she said.
"Definitely the right place. Right time... I can't be too sure, but if it's coming soon it would be tonight," I said. "Well, speak of the devil..."
A massive chunk of a lavishly large sailing vessel came flying through the sky, shattering to timbers in the rocky bay. Bodies, containers, and wreckage quickly began to wash up on the shore.
"Stay back and wait for my signal," I said, cocking back the hammer on my pistol. I ran down to the shore, and began checking the bodies. No, no... Ah, there she was. A crack of thunder broke my concentration momentarily, but I quickly identified her again.
I ran over to the blonde woman as the shrieking wind howled overhead, and noticed the large creature rising from the sea. Then I saw something else, a humanoid form drifting across the surface of the water. While that was not remarkable in itself given the circumstances, it was rather unusual that they appeared to be walking atop the water, as opposed to floating facedown like a piece of flotsam. Their eyes glowed like the lightning that traced across the sky, and I began to notice that the shrieking wasn't actually the wind, it seemed to be coming from them.
Still, I couldn't get distracted. I dragged the blonde woman out of the water, and very quickly realized that I had been running on some very inaccurate assumptions. Firstly, despite the soft, wavy hair and thin frame, this person was not a woman, but a man with a well manicured mustache and beard who I had only seen lying face down before. While that wasn't necessarily a deal breaker in itself, soulmates came in many forms, there was also the matter of the jagged pieces of wood sticking out of his throat and chest. This man didn't need a lover, he needed a mortician, and the apparent coughing I'd thought I'd seen was just movement from the waves.
I balked in confusion for a moment, before realizing that there was one face I'd never been allowed to see in the dreams, and it was now sprinting toward me across the surface of the water. The woman who emerged from the rain was... beautiful was the wrong word. Seawater had worn down her clothes to little more than rags, and the harsh salty air made her hair and face look somewhat more haggard than it probably should have. Still, there was an elegance to her, the way she glided across sea and sand, and a definite strength to her despite her willowy frame.
"You there, fancy man. The destined day of my arrival has come! Let all know that these are the waters of Agatha the sea witch, and I shall share them with nobody, be they merchant, cleric, or king!" she said.
"I think you're mistaken, miss. You stand before Captain Potter, and this is my sea," I said.
While I had been expecting a sneer, instead she responded with a smirk and raised her hand to the sky.
"You and what army?" she asked, snapping her fingers. There was another clap of thunder, so loud it left my ears ringing, and the great leviathan in the distance began approaching the shore with worrying speed.
I drew my sword and pistol, and Agatha snapped her wrist at the ground, causing a glass blade to emerge from the sand and float to her hand. I fired my pistol into the sky, and the artillery began to sing.
Agatha was visibly exhausted, though anyone would be after fighting for nearly an hour. The monster she'd brought to bear had several terrible grievous wounds from the cannon shot, and had fled. My crew were also scattered, no doubt hiding in the nearby forest and hills for the battle to be over.
"You are bold, Captain, I'll give you that," she said, panting as she spoke. "But I have dozen more Krakens, and hundreds more younglings to fill the ranks when the great ones fall. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of merfolk at my beck and call. Do you truly think your realm can stand up to my power?"
"Stand up to you? Ma'am, I think there may have been a misunderstanding," I said, dropping to one knee. It wasn't difficult, as my leg had nearly given out on me several times during the fight.
"Surrendering? A wise choice," Agatha said, stepping toward me.
However, before she got any closer, I pulled out the gold ring I'd saved from our last plunder and held it out toward her. The woman slowed down in front of me, staring in confusion.
Finally, I said, "Agatha, I have a fleet of ships myself with hundreds of guns, but that was never the point of coming here. You've seen me fight, you know of my goals, and you seem like a fine woman. Would you take my hand in marriage, so we can rule this sea together?"
And that, in short, is the story of how I met your mother.

To protect the Tri-Cities, three guilds have formed, who are always eager to add more adventurers to their ranks.
