2023.03.24 05:58 loglogz Kia Sorento reliably and lifetime mileage?
Curious if anyone here can tell me what to expect from a new Sorento? I know the warranty is great, but I’ve heard dealers often try to avoid coverage.
We’re very interested in the Sorento LX, but i’m a bit hesitant of the vehicle’s longevity. Is it realistic to expect 200k miles on this with proper care and non abusive driving? This will be the family car so a few multi state road trips (CO to Az, or CO to MO) and to work 8 miles round trip.
Or the other option is a rav4 or spending the cash for a highlander. We already have a Tacoma and I’ve personally only purchased Toyota in the past, but the new Kia’s seem legit. Just wondering if anyone has any recs.
Thanks!

2023.03.24 03:09 SapphireKSG I need some help
I’m having to sell my ‘01 2WD SR5. She needs a new transmission and I don’t have the time or money to have it replaced. I was going to donate her the the trade school here because I know she won’t be used for parts there but a really good friend of mine’s husband wants to take a look at her and possibly buy her from me as something to work on. The only reason I’m willing to sell to him is because he absolutely loves Toyotas and I know he’d fall in love with her like I did and never sell her. The sentimental value of this car makes this incredibly hard as it’s the car I grew up in and is the first car my dad ever bought brand new. I wouldn’t sell her for a million dollars honestly but this is someone I trust with my Betsy. Because of the attachment to her I really don’t know what to ask him for her that would be a fair price and what she’s worth.
She’s been through a couple deer, one fender bender, and has dents from 23 years of some tough love (she was bought in 2000), the interior is clean but not as clean as it could be (stains and rips) seeing as at one point all but one of my siblings and I drove her before she was put in my name. The only problem is she burns a little bit of oil and needs a new transmission. I was wondering just based on that if y’all had any good ideas what a good price might be for her. Carmax told me $2200 which I just don’t trust at all. She’s worth so much more than that to me.

2023.03.24 02:47 irishkateart Help sourcing a shop for mods
I recently bought my first taco, a 2022 and I’m still on cloud 9. I have a handful of mods I want to implement but I cannot find anyone near me to do them. I’m in AZ, and looking to do a grille, dash cams, front bumper and possibly some bed storage. More will be done later. I’ve called custom shops who don’t seem too knowledgeable about Tacomas. Toyota dealerships that won’t do any mods, I called their recommended third party they use for body work, that too won’t do these. What kind of shops should I be looking for? Do I have to use multiple? Is that a bad idea? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

2023.03.24 02:43 Pimpjuice2 I'm absolutely in love with the Tan 2016-2020 Tacoma but wasn't expecting to pay 30k+ used...Will the market ever return to normal or is there a year range that is better bang for buck?
2023.03.24 02:39 chazbot7 Had one last great weekend with the guys in the San Juans and said goodbye to the Taco, onto a full size RAM. Until next time r/ToyotaTacoma!

2023.03.24 01:16 philodendron305 2013 Tacoma Trd Sport or something more fuel efficient like a Subaru?
Currently drive an old Mazda 3. It’s been a good car to me but looking to get something bigger before a cross-country move I’m doing this year. I have some potential buyers that are looking to pay around 5k for it.
I’m looking for something more suited for snow, dispersed camping, and some light off road. I go on camping trips most weekends in the summer and would be driving in the snow regularly to snowboard in winter. I work from home right now and don’t expect my commute to be more than 20 minutes if that ends.
I have the opportunity to buy a 2013 Toyota Tacoma Trd Sport from a family member for 14k with around 110k miles on it. It’s fully speced with a factory installed supercharger, 4x4, leather seats, extended bed, and has been meticulously maintained by them. The only downside is it requires premium fuel and averages around 17mpg.
The truck would be nice for my needs for outdoors activities and honestly don’t mind the way it’s drives. I would put a cap on the back for camping. Though the gas bill will be rough, especially if prices spike again.
The other alternative is a Subaru Outback or something of the like, but prices are around the same and I don’t have the comfort of knowing the true maintenance history of the vehicle like I do with the truck.
Does it seem reasonable to buy the Tacoma or should I keeping looking for something with better fuel economy?

2023.03.23 23:40 BesetByTiredness225 Food for thought: Are people actually ok with SUVs and trucks getting bigger and bigger? How does the Ford F-150 remain the best selling car in America?
I'm really curious to know if there have been any official studies conducted regarding public opinion on cars getting bigger. Because bigger cars demand more car-centric infrastructure and turn America into even more of a car-centric hellhole than it already has. I presume that people living in cities would have a far more negative opinion on this than people living in suburbs and rural areas, but beyond that assumption, I don't have much insight. If anyone has studies on whether people actually like SUVs & trucks getting bigger and bigger, or whether people actually like having to drive everywhere, I'd love to see them.
And on the topic of the Ford F-150, which is the poster child for disgustingly enormous and dangerous vehicle design, why is this car still the best selling vehicle in America? Actually, according to
this article by Car and Driver, the top 3 spots are taken up by the Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, and Dodge RAM. This is something I have trouble understanding. Trucks seem like more of a niche than your standard SUV, sedan, and hatchback. Is it because there is simply less competition in the truck space? Outside of the American Big 3, you have the Toyota Tacoma and... that's it. But sedans and hatchbacks occupy the same space of 4-door 5-seat passenger vehicles, so each individual model might sell less but as a collective, they probably outnumber the truck market. Nonetheless, SUVs are a different story. SUVs made up over
80% of new car sales in 2021. This is despite rising gas prices. I can only think that people are gravitating toward SUVs because they perceive SUVs as being "safer". Not Just Bikes' most recent video (which has 1.4m views as of now) touches on this, where the presence of bigger vehicles on the road creates a sort of arms race for people to get their own bigger vehicles to feel "safer", even though SUVs make roads less safe overall. And this is exacerbated by the fact that car companies market the hell out of SUVs to consumers, which creates the perception that SUVs are the only real option out there.
All in all, I just think we could be doing so much better with regards to vehicular choice. Regulate the maximum size these cancerous behemoths can actually be. Enforce emissions standards on those vehicles like what is already placed on sedans, hatchbacks, and coupes. I'm saying all of this as a person who fucking LOVES cars. I'm a car enthusiast from day one. Thing is, I grew up on JDM and Initial D. Out of principle and enjoyment, I choose to stick with my Honda Civic Sport hatchback - such a fun car to drive. I would never go for bloated SUV garbage.

2023.03.23 21:27 AFvetWithPain Getting a new (used) truck; opinions?
Hey all. I am in the market for an older Toyota truck. I am very familiar with Toyota's and buying used vehicles, so my only questions are about these two in comparison.
I am currently looking at a 2006 Limited Tundra, and 2014 TRD OR Tacoma; both seem to be in pretty great shape and have just around 100k miles (tundra right below, taco right over). Tundra is $20k, which is way overpriced according to KBB; Tacoma is $23k, which is spot on if not under KBB. My goal for a new truck is to have this as absolutely long as possible, take road/camping trips, and more or less be a daily (I also have a `99 4Runner which I will be keeping). Ideally, I would counteroffer both sellers and pay it off all in cash. Issues/"things to look out for"/etc aside, which one might you choose?
Thank you.

2023.03.23 18:55 Mountain_20200 Weird Revving Sound during Idle and increasing RPM's
Hi guys, First time posting in this subreddit. Thank you in advance for taking a look (Or more so "Listen").
Vehicle: 2008, Toyota, Tacoma. 2.7 L engine. 186K miles. Manual Transmission. Well taken care for.
I'm posting a couple of video's below, and it's a similar issue. I've been having a weird sound coming off my engine when I increase and decrease the RPM's during neutral and when in gear. It's a "revving", rhythmic sound. No "slippage" occurs with clutch use, and gear shirting is normal. It's only during changing of speeds and RPM's of the engine. There's not too much to add to this description. Overall, does not appear to be effecting the drive performance of the truck, but this sound has really "ticked up" in the past 1000 miles or so. Again, Thank you for your honest advice.

2023.03.23 01:34 RanchNWrite What Would You Do in My Situation?
Okay, so I purchased a truck (2014 Toyota Tacoma) and paid for it in full using our business account because we can deduct it on our taxes. I was supposed to pick it up in Daly City on Friday (two days from today) and like a real rookie I bought non-refundable plane tickets as that's 200 miles away from where I live. SO, today I get an email saying that there was a transportation delay and it won't be available for another month!
I think I'm going to go ahead and fly down there and just take a little vacation, but I want your advice for whatever comes next. The stories on here are kind of freaking me out and I already feel exposed for spending so much money on a truck I haven't even seen or had checked out.
Given your experiences, what would you do in my situation?
